We really liked the location, and our room was extremely cool and unique, as it was inside a cave. The bathroom/shower was very modern, as was the bathtub. The staff was extremely courteous and the owners were very responsive via texts/WhatsApp. They also helped us arrange our valet (taxi) to and from our private parking lot, which was very helpful. The breakfast that was served in the morning was excellent with tons of variety and extremely fresh.

The only thing we didn’t love were the beds were not comfortable, and the pillows were also very thin. It was OK, as we only stayed one night, but it would have been a problem for 3-4 nights.

We had a wonderful stay. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and the layout worked perfectly for our group of three. I shared a bed with a friend while the other stayed in the single bed, and the setup allowed us to enjoy our time comfortably. The bathroom being upstairs gave us extra privacy, and the air conditioning kept the space at a perfect temperature. One of the highlights was having a balcony right in front of the room with a stunning view over the Sassi of Matera — truly unforgettable. Breakfast was generous and well served, and the team was incredibly helpful and kind throughout our stay. Although we didn’t have time to use the spa facilities, it’s a great feature to have and certainly a plus for those who can enjoy it. All in all, a great experience that I would definitely recommend.

This is very beautiful hotel and place to spend the night (or several) in the thick of the Sassi di Matera. The hotel is situated in the perfect location and has the absolute most beautiful views from the terrace. The design of the lobby and the rooms is striking, utilizing the natural stone that the hotel was carved into. The rock features in the rooms themselves make this a very unique place to stay but had all the comforts you'd want, including a sizeable shower. I'd recommend parking (if driving) at the recommended lot called "Parking Nicoletti". Its $20 for 24 hours and the garage must partner with the hotel. If you make a reservation at the parking garage ahead of time, the attendants at the garage knew already of my arrival, were familiar right away with "La Dimora" and valet parked my car. As an added bonus, there was a $10 shuttle that dropped us off right in front of the hotel. Overall very convenient, comfortable, unique, beautiful, and well located hotel for exploration of the Sassi. Very good breakfast as well!

The only downside is that the spa had particular hours that it was open (was closed until 3PM). It could have been because we were there in May, the early season, but would have been nice to use some of those facilities on our stay.

This was the second time we stayed at the hotel. We booked again the large suite which is beautiful decorated. Enormous bath in the room. Nice outdoor seating area. Right in the middle of the sassi. Nice little restaurant with good food downstairs.

I remember from the last time that the breakfast was fabulous. This time it was ok, was expecting a bit more. The wellness was closed. You can park your car in a garage nearby and take a shuttle, well organised but it will add another 80 euros for 2 nights which were already expensive.

The location was beautiful and had great views

It was difficult to get to and the instructions provided were not clear or detailed enough. The property manager did not put themselves in the shoes of the traveler and was not really interested in helping us out. To get back out of the place it was very difficult to get a taxi as no one would pick us up, and the property manager was not around, not answering their phone and not helpful

Beautifully designed modern apartment inside a cave with amazing views of the city inside Matera town.

VERY RUDE HOST. Had to park the car about 15 min drive away and then figure out how to get a shuttle to the actual apartment then climb all these stairs with no offer to help with our suitcases. Then she gave me an attitude about any questions we had. VERY UNACCOMMODATING. Then she basically kicked us out of the apartment rushing us to leave and yelling at us to pay right away rolling her eyes and saying nasty comments.

As a cave B&B, it fully met our expectations, and it was very atmospheric. It was pricey but then to stay in an authentic cave house, you have to pay up. We enjoyed our stay and Matera was the highlight of our trip to that part of Italy.

We had the least spacious room with the bathroom up some stairs and the lighting wasn't brilliant, but apart from that it was fine.

Great location in the Sassi. The room we booked was basically a cave with high quality finish internally with modern glass and ceramics - stunning. We believe only one of the rooms is like this. Outside semi-private terrace with great views of the Sassi for evening drinks and breakfast.

Breakfast selection was poor, no hot food and barely enough for the guests. No bread at all on our first day, as a couple we never managed to even get a whole croissant each, had to share. Ate cornflakes from a teacup as no cereal bowls in property. Breakfast is seriously lacking.

Breakfast was excellent, cold cuts fresh pastries great coffee great clean designer setting, location was perfect with a number of amazing restaurants at your door or 2 mins away, The room & the building/cave was like a designer had fitted it out, it was impressive felt very luxurious modern well appointed fittings, it was the best stay staff couldn't do more & location was in the best possible position.. highly recommend this property.

It was simply amazing! We fell in love with this Sassi! We booked a normal room, nevertheless the staff offered us the suit for no difference in the price. It was the best stay we ever had - so authentic to the city and in the same time comfy! After a long day of experiencing Matera (lots of walking and climbing) we were able to enjoy the bathtub and had a great rest! The breakfast was also very delicious. We recommend this property with both hands! ❤️
