Very good hotel with loads of charm. The location of the hotel is excellent. It’s in the old town overlooking the sea and you are right in the thick of it, without it feeling too busy. The hotel has its own golf cart that will pick you up outside of the old down and take you in with your cases. The pool is small but so is the hotel, so it’s never busy and sometimes it was only us in there. The rooftop area is a real feature of the hotel and you can chose to sunbathe, sit and have a drink or eat at the restaurant which is very good. Strong seafood bias as you would expect and done to a high standard. Breakfast was average.

The aircon in our room wasn’t great and the WiFi was patchy. They gave my partner the WiFi code for the staff network in the end and the guest one wouldn’t work for her. The hotel arranged a taxi for us to a wine tasting in Polignano and we also went to a restaurant in Polignano - the cost of the taxis are crazy. €120 round trip for the wine tasting and €140 for the restaurant - Polignano is the next town along the coast and there is no way those prices can be justified. Next time we would try Uber.

Beautiful location, wonderful staff, great breakfast.

The room was horribly small, two people couldn’t pass each other, about 8” from the side of the bed to the wall. The bathroom was tiny as well, no place big enough to open a suitcase except on the bed. Would never have stayed if we realized how small the room was, or would have happily upgraded. Avoid the room with the Juliet Balcony, it shouldn’t be allowed to be a hotel room. And the smoke alarm was taped over.

The location was wonderful as was the view from our suite. The bed was extremely comfortable. The men who take you to and from your car and help with luggage were outstanding.

Some of the staff were unfriendly, there was no mention of the extraordinary number of stairs to get to our suite and the terrace, there were wires hanging out of bathroom walls, the Turkish bath is just steam in your regular shower that must be turned on in the office ( no spontaneity possible), there was a huge stain on the walls from a leak, the internet kept going out. At $700/ night, I expected more.

First off, the location was great. We loved being on the water but with access to the historic center (everything was walkable). The hotel office staff were very communicative and helped us figure out the free parking situation. They have a golf cart they use to shuttle guests and luggage to and from nearby parking spots located just outside the old town center. The size, cleanliness, and comfort of the bedroom and bathroom scored high for us. The bed (a true king) was very comfortable, and the double sinks in the bathroom were a big bonus. The amenities in the room, like water, slippers, bathrobes, and even scale were also really appreciated. The breakfast was perhaps the most special, with warm/friendly restaurant staff and homemade cakes, savory dishes, and delicious coffee. We were lucky to get the window seat that looked out onto the ocean all the mornings of our visit. I should note that, due to the time of year, their rooftop restaurant was closed and the outdoor pool, while filled, didn't appeal for obvious reasons. However, I can imagine these facilities being a special part of a visit at another time.

Not much, really. There was a slight sewer smell in the room which I think had to do with the seaside plumbing or infrastructure for the larger block and not necessarily the hotel itself. But we went nose blind to it pretty quickly.

A charming hotel centrally located in Monopoli old town but in a quiet area so there were no disturbances at night. The hotel is well equipped and nicely decorated. Good breakfast. Although the pool is small it’s fine for a cooling dip. The rooftop restaurant and lounge area is lovely. The staff couldn’t have been nicer or friendlier - they really went out of their way to be helpful. The hotel has a subscription to the Sabbiadoro Beach resort with a free shuttle to and from there (but you must pay for the facilities, of course) - a lovely day out.

Not applicable in my case, but some guests were not too happy that the hotel is not one central block but has annexes at some remove from the main building. Being in an old renovated building, there are no lifts and it’s a steep climb to some rooms and to the rooftop restaurant and terrace, so not really suitable for people with mobility problems.

The Don Ferrante is a truly unique property, inhabiting 3 or 4 small buildings in the Centro Storico of Monopoli. We stayed in the Madia Suite, which to our surprise was a 3-story townhouse off one of the winding streets, about 2 blocks from the main hotel. Initially, we were put off by this. But we soon came to love our location, privacy and the sense of living in a neighborhood among the local Italians. An extensive complimentary breakfast was available every day in a charming cantina in the hotel. We also had 2 amazing dinners at the hotel's beautiful rooftop terrace restaurant--something not to be missed. The food and service were incredible!

My only caution about this property might be to older travelers who have difficulty with stairs. Most of the rooms here, including our suite and access to the terrace restaurant, involve climbing a number of narrow or winding stairs.

We loved our stay at Don Ferrante. It was exceptionally clean, so many amenities like towels, gowns, slippers, beach towels.. the list goes on. Every day our place was cleaned and we loved how nice and accomodating the staff were. The suite was beautiful and we loved it. We had a private transfer to and from the station, where they met us with umbrellas and helped with our luggage. The receptionist walked us to our room and explained everything.. showed us how everything worked and offered to help with reservations and tours. They gave us a map of Monopoli as it was our first time visiting, and circled restaurants, landmarks and places to go, such as beaches. Our breakfast buffet was beautiful and always greeted and enjoyed every moment. I recommend this hotel to everyone and will definitely be back again. The location was better than we even expected. Excellent walking area to food and shops. Beautiful view of the sea from a gorgeous and impeccably clean room. The stay in Monopoli was also perfect for traveling around Puglia and we visited a town a day from there. The breakfast was fantastic each morning and the service was top tier. We would absolutely stay there again and recommend to everyone we know

Room in the separate building. Cannot fault it. They thought of everything.

It’s a little tricky getting to the hotel because of the narrow crowded streets and no available parking. However the hotel has a golf cart shuttle to fetch you from your car. If you then want to use your car you need to arrange a shuttle. Not really a problem but just an extra step.

We loved our stay at this hotel. All of the rooms are different and we enjoyed ours which had a front room to it with the bed in an attached room. The whole room was very charming. From the moment we arrived the staff were so helpful and they continued to be helpful with restaurant suggestions and places to visit. Breakfast was very good too.
