A Perfect Honeymoon Stay – Exceptional in Every Way We had the absolute pleasure of staying at La Vecchia Fonti hotel in the Presidential Suite for two nights as part of our 14-night honeymoon in Sardinia — and it was, without doubt, one of the standout highlights of our entire trip. The hotel is ideally located right on the Palau harbour, offering the perfect base for exploring the stunning La Maddalena archipelago. But beyond the prime location, what truly set this stay apart was the impeccable service and attention to detail from the moment we arrived. Check-in was warm and seamless, and we were made to feel welcome from the first moment. The staff were outstanding — consistently friendly, helpful, and genuinely thoughtful throughout our stay. They are a real credit to the hotel. A beautiful touch awaited us in our suite: a bottle of sparkling wine, a handwritten welcome note, and a delicious platter of fresh fruit — all of which made us feel truly celebrated and cared for as honeymooners. The Presidential Suite itself was simply stunning — stylish, spacious, and immaculately maintained. It had everything we could have possibly needed and more, including a private gym! But the true showstopper was the private terrace with breathtaking panoramic views over the harbour. Complete with sun loungers, a dining table and chairs, and our own private hot tub, it was the ultimate spot to relax in privacy and comfort. The view was so spectacular we chose to dine on our terrace in the evening, as nowhere else could have compared to that setting. In every aspect — from the luxury of the suite to the professionalism and warmth of the team — this hotel exceeded our expectations. It was romantic, peaceful, and effortlessly elegant. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, and we would return in a heartbeat. A truly unforgettable stay.

The rooms were super clean and comfortable. The reception was super friendly and gave us some infos about parking which were very useful. The location is perfect for staying in town and there is a public parking, cheap, just few meters away.

It’s a bit noisy if your room is facing the nearby bar with music up to 1am. The breakfast is disappointing in offering. We had expected a lot more for a 4*superior boutique hotel. The coffee machine wasn’t working properly and the staff was reluctant to just make coffee at the machine at the bar. Breakfast needs improving.

Beautiful antique style hotel, in a good location on the harbour, close to walk to bars, restaurants and a beach. Good transport links, bus terminal and Ferry port to La Maddelina island, both 5min walk away. Provides good toiletries in room (shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion, helpful when travelling light). Very helpful staff. Delicious breakfast with lots of options.

Bed springs were a bit squeaky (not in a rude way, just turning over! 😂)

Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was great, we had a balcony with a view on to the harbour. The location was central and easy to find. Parking was €12 per night in the car park opposite the hotel. We would definitely return to this hotel.

The breakfast option was basic but okay. It didn't worry us during our stay but just to note there is a live music stage nearby that plays music past midnight at the weekend.

Location was fabulous, right in front of the harbour, night life and great restaurants. The room was huge and the bed was very comfortable. Having the air-con on before we arrived was wonderful. Allowed the room to be nice and cool on our arrival. Staff were very accommodating and helpful. Breakfast was great too, lots of variety. Would definitely recommend staying here.

We had the royal spa suite, it was great fun to sit in the hot tub and look at the marina and the stars, and bears rock. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Nice big fluffy bathrobes, slippers and spare towels for the jacuzzi. Parking was easy, there is a public car park in front of the hotel (paid hours are 08.00-20.00 and it is 1 euro per hour). This is a great place to stay in Palau, especially if you are taking the ferry to La Maddalena.

Great staff, everyone friendly and helpful. Good size room, comfortable bed.. Night market right outside, but this did not disturb us.

Bar next door has a music licence until 1.00am. Very loud, we could not sleep. Green train has not run for years. Breakfast disappointing, not many healthy choices. Lots of sweet things.

Breakfast was good. The coffee from the automatic machine (something that seems to be ever more common these days) is comme ci comme ca. I learned that you can ask for a cappuccino from the espresso machine - a much better cup of coffee..

It is a good little boutique hotel - no complaints. There is a nice little bar/cafe at the front of the hotel that makes it even more attractive. We were there before peak season - there was no need to pay for hotel parking. Getting clarity on rules for public parking throughout Sardinia took some effort. The tourism bureau could up their game by providing tourists with clear info on parking.

We loved the extra detail that was thru out the hotel. Great location, no problem parking. The parking lot is in front of the hotel, some might not liKe this but we thought it was great. The Marina and restaurants were right there. All in all we felt we made a great decision to stay their.

Most centric hotel in town surrounded by restaurants. Peculiar stylish hotel, nice view of the port. Staff helpful and nice. Staying in Palau is a great option if you rent a car and are planing to move around.

The parking costs 19€ a day and the city tax 5€ per day (nothing to do with the hotel)...overpriced. The facilities are not great; no simming pool, no gym, poor conection to wifi.. The breakfast ok.
