We were pleasantly surprised by our room which was spotlessly clean, and recently refurbished (as almost all the rooms have been now). It had everything you needed including soap, shower gel, a fridge, air conditioning and a small safe for valuables. There were rolling shutters which blacked out the room and it was quiet (we were facing into the inner courtyard). The staff were welcoming and helpful. It was a few steps away from the station and 5-10 minutes walk to the centre.

Nothing - it was all good.

Very big and comfortable bed, spacious bathroom and cleaned. Room service impeccable. Nice location attached to the train station, not too far away by walk from the city centre as well. So it is recommended for travellers.

Walls to thin so you hear literally everything and I have been woken up in the middle of the night by other people who arrived in the room next to mine one. I didn’t like also the fact that you were given a unique code to join the free WiFi, which last just 24 hours. So, every day, you have to go at the reception and ask for a new code.

The hotel was a stones throw from Pavia station and a few minutes walk into the main centre. Close to shops, restaurants, and cafes. Also, beautiful patisserie opposite and a laundrette. The hotel and the room were spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

There was no kettle in the room, really needed on cold days/nights. There was a strong smell of sewage sometimes.

Quite basic hotel for reasonable money. I spend a week in this hotel in Jan-2024 most of the time outside of the hotel and used it just to take a shower, change dress and sleep. Reception recommended me a very nice restaurant in Pavia. Location is perfect - just 50 steps from the Pavia train station.

The furniture is a bit old and worn out, at least in the Single room I stayed. Water pressure in the shower was very low but still tolerable.

Nice hotel. Quite good location - needs some walking to get to the center. The staff were helpful. The room was comfortable, except the bathroom, with very good air-condition. There is a large garage for card and bike, though we couldn't charge our ebikes there.

The bathroom was on the small side, and the water stream wasn't great.

Hotel Excelsior is quite well located, right in front of Pavia Train Station and close to several restaurants, cafes and supermarkets. Very friendly staff!

Breakfast is good, but as far as I observed, fruits are not part of the breakfast. The wifi connection is good, however the hotel uses a system of "wifi code" for each device, this code allows one to be connected for 24 hours and then it is necessary to require a new code in the reception. I had to require a new code precisely when I was during a zoom meeting and my connection was over. Nothing really serious, but having a wifi connection without any interruption is desirable.

Conveniently situated near the railway station. Smallish bathroom but adequate. Fresh towels each day. Good breakfast - same each day.

Strange arrangement of rooms . We were on 5th floor via a separate lift. No water left in the room. No parking available. We had to search in the crowded streets each evening.

For a 3-star, the room really looked like a 4-star!

Shampoo was not provided. Maybe it was a mistake? I forgot to ask. The location is not great, it's right next to the train station where there might be sketchy people at night. I wasn't allowed to access the car park; instead, the staff asked me to hand over the car keys and park my car in their garage. No problem in my case, but it might take some freedom / flexibility away from you as you need to contact the staff every time you need your car.

When you consider the price/performance ratio, the breakfast seemed good enough but could be improved. For example, a few types of cheese, scrambled eggs and some vegetables such as tomatoes can be added.

Lovely central hotel, you have everything within walking distance, staff very friendly and spoke good English, breakfast with lots of choices to choose from, highly recommended hotel, I hope to come back soon.
