The location is fantastic and close to the main square, shops and restaurants. The hotel has just been renovated beautifully.

It felt like we were the first guests in the newly decorated room. Many things missing such as an extra chair for clothes, in the bathroom no hooks to hang or where one could place anything. No safety box in the room as the receptionist said they havnt arrived yet.The worst part was that the water of the shower runs right out to the front door and shower handle came off. All is brand new but unfortunately bad workmanship! Aircon doesn’t function and when we reported the problem they acknowledged to fix it but it still wasn’t working by the evening. The next day same thing! It was a good thing the temperatures weren’t freezing. A pity I would recommend but the hotel still needs the finishing touches …

very well located right in the middle of the old centre. Hotel nicely refurbished with style. Staff friendly and hospitable. Quality of beds reasonably good. Nice breakfast which is served from a menu, at the table. This avoids a lot of waste food and walking around, therefore breakfast is much more relaxed. You can also eat outside in front of the hotel (it's a pedestrian area).

getting there by car is relatively easy but you need to park it just around the corner where 3 spots marked yellow are located for the hotel. However when we arrived all 3 spots were taken, and 3 hours later when we passed that place we saw that 2 of those still had the same cars occupying them. We parked it 'illegally' at the opposite side of the road with 3 wheels on the pavement to unpack. Furthermore the hotel had only 1 working elevator during our stay, which is tiny and takes long. Last but not least the airco in the rooms could only be put "on" or "off" by calling reception, which is annoying. Reception did put it on or off in each of our rooms right away, so no complaints about that.

Excellent, excellent location. In the hub, on the canals & easy accessible to restaurants, markets, shops & tours pick up points. Reception team very friendly & extremely helpful. Enjoyed a lovely meal in the hotel restaurant, with helpful guide to select right wine.

!Room 503! Had read a review where previous guests had requested a room change. We booked 5 nights & arrived late after 8 hrs travel & unpacked before realising.The hotel features stating would have canal or city views. However absolutely no views at all. The access door opened onto area surrounded by black colour bond fence (due to air conditioners being on other side), plus had large skylight for lower floors. Ugly area which was unusable unless a smoker. Weather lovely & very warm while there. Due to black enclosed fence the air conditioner could not cool adequately even at night.

Loved the location in a pedestrian street. Central for what we wanted. Travelled that day from UK via plane to Venice airport. Then shuttle bus & train to Trieste rail station- worked very well. We then walked slowly due to the heat, about 15/20 minutes to the hotel. Next day about 10/15 mins walk to port to pick up a cruise ship. Short walk to a square where we found food & drink in several lovely bars. Spacious quiet city to walk around- quiet as it was a Sunday so not all places open. Looking forward to returning when a little cooler so easier to explore. Storage for luggage whilst we explored. Spacious rooms, good showers, comfortable bed. Perfect for us & would return. Breakfast, very tasty from attentive staff. Good selection from menu. Happy to return to this hotel next time we visit, also recommend to others.

Can't think of anything. No views as central in town, but that's the way it is, not a complaint.

Location was brilliant for the local amenities and sights Gentle music playing in the restaurant and bar was just the right volume and mood The decor in the restaurant and bar area were lovely All of the staff were very helpful and pleasant

The service in the bar in the evenings left a lot to be desired. There was not a member of staff on the bar during the evening and we had to wait for a member of staff to pop out of the restaurant to see if we wanted a drink. On a couple of occasions we had to ask Reception to call someone or we popped into the restaurant to ask for service. This was the case even when the restaurant was closed.

Everything was wonderful. We had such a great time. The room was beautiful. The bathroom amazing. Soap smells great. The waterpressure was perfect. The temperature in the room was perfect. The lightning was very cosy. The beds were very comfortable. If you want, they bring bring coffee up to your room in the morning. There is a great minibar. There is a valet that parks your car for you. You just drop the key at the reception. And when you need it again, you call them 30 min in advance. We were really in love with this hotel.

Tip: Don't take the option 'breakfast included'. The breakfast is not very good and overpriced (16 euro a person). The coffee and frech orange juice are good though.

We were upgraded to a larger room which was great with no extra cost. The wine bar and service was great in the hotel.

No face cloths , too much light in room and street noise but this did not impact our stay as we used earplugs for the noise and an eye mask and the bed was very comfy and noise inside the hotel was minimal. We also didn't like the fact dogs were in the hotel and barking away on our first night.

We stayed at the Modernist Hotel since there were ongoing renovations at Hotel Continentale. Location is central (just round the corner of Hotel Continentale) and the room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was also very good.

Hotel Continentale changed our accommodation to the Modernist Hotel due to ongoing renovations. the Modernist Hotel was good and comfortable, therefore this has nothing to do with the Modernist Hotel per se. Nevertheless, we would have appreciated if communication about the change in our accommodation was done before our free cancellation deadline and not exactly the day after this deadline had passed (even more so when renovations had been ongoing for a while). Thankfully we liked the new hotel, but if we didn't we were given a Hobson's choice since we couldn't cancel it for free anymore even though we had paid a premium to have the free cancellation option.

The location, staff, my room was cleaned every day without me requesting it. Everything was amazing.

You need to order breakfast every morning from the same staff member. Imagine doing that every morning for a couple of days. One time, there was a mistake with my order. I would really enjoy it more if there was a buffet breakfast instead.

This hotel is the best. They really know what quality and good service are. They are so friendly. They go out of there way. The facilities are great. They really take good care of you. You can check out until 12. There is a valet that parks your car for you. They bring coffee up to your room. The room is beautiful. Bathroom is perfect.
