Everything about this hotel from start to finish was wonderful. I arrived right at 3pm for check-in. The staff was welcoming. I put my shoes in the shoe locker and walked on tatami mats throughout the hotel in the Japanese socks they provided. My room was absolutely spotless, well-equipped with standard Japanese hotel room items and included a towel rack which was helpful after going to the onsens and it also had a great view. I put on my loungewear and headed to the onsens. Both group and 7 private onsens were varied with open-air and white water and different sizes. A few massage chairs were also available and free snacks were provided throughout the day. The location of this hotel is perfect. It's a two-minute walk from Beppu train station. There were plenty of cute restaurants, shops, bars, convenience stores and even a movie theatre in the immediate area. My bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. The next morning was an incredible breakfast buffet. There was an unbelievable variety it was delicious. The hotel appears to be new. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here if you are coming to Beppu. Location, cleanliness, delicious food, lovely onsens, and comfortable bed. Everything was fabulous. I would gladly stay there again.

Comfortable but with very tiny rooms. Unusual experience {which we liked} for a big hotel is that you must not wear shoes at any place in the hotel. All floors are carpeted with tatami mats, which are beautiful, but since this hotel caters a lot to tour groups, the front doors become jammed when a bus comes in and people must remove their shoes. Tour groups also bottleneck at the elevators and restaurant. Breakfasts looked great, but we wouldn't go when tours were lined up. Excellent coffee always available. Outdoor onsen was tiny (maybe 3 meters by 3 meters). Indoor onsen was large enough, but not hot enough. Great location with lots of restaurants nearby. Fantastic English-speaking staff. Dormy's HR Dept know their stuff. We'd stay again, despite the small rooms and small onsen. Visit the very old downtown onsen, Takegawara, , a must, and the seafront walk, Good bakery (Mermaid) at the train station. Liveely downtown area.

Don't like their room motion-sensitive lights. Should be able to disable at night.

Convenient location just 3 minutes walk from Beppu station, the hotel gives a unique Japanese vibe. It has 7 private onsen (hot spring bath) besides 2 public onsen for men and women. Hotel offers free coffee, latte, matcha latte (hot, cold), free udon at night, ice cream outside the onsen baths. Excellent sunrise view from the lounge outside of onsen baths.

Could use lotion, hair toner... in the private onsen baths. Instead, guests have to go to the public onsen prep area to use those if they want to. No drinking water dispenser in the lounge outside of the onsen, only ice machine. Again, need to go back to the public onsen area to get water from the drinking fountain.

I really enjoy the facilities in the Hotel. You can experience 8 different kinds of Onsen in beppu in this hotel.

Since the private Onsen doesn't take reservation, so you have to wait at the spot. Your chance of getting the free room is totally spontaneous

Very clean, comfortable beds, simple but nice japonese rooms, great onsen with 7 private baths! Location is perfect, close to restaurants and bus and train station. Friendly staff. What was surprising for us initially, the hotel is shoe free. You leave them in the lobby locked up, and walk barefoot or they give you cute socks… we ended up liking it a lot!!

A quite complicated check in at 3 pm…. So everybody arrives then, and rushes to the onsen on the roof, as it opens at 3pm…. So crowded. Same for check out, 12 pm… and no possibility to use the onsen in the afternoon, which was a pity.

New and nice onsen Free ramen at night (22:00 to 23:00), free popsicle at night and free yakult in the morning was great! They have private onsen that is first come first serve.

Too crowded and lots of tour groups

Where do I start? OnsenS on site? Public and family baths on site? A lounge with massage chairs FREE popsicles! No shoes property from the moment you walk in! It’s all about relaxation since you set your feet in. I don’t give it a complete perfect score because for me, I need complete darkness to sleep. The room was too bright at night but went to youme town round the corner and got heated eye mask the next night and I was completely relaxed. The private baths were absolute cute and my kids loved it. Totally recommend this place.

The room windows didn’t allow for compete dark room. I have. A hard time sleeping in a bright room.

Hotel was in a great location just a few steps away from the JR station and in the middle of town so easy to get around. There were shops, restaurants, convenience stores located nearby. I really liked the traditional look of the hotel and it was impeccably presented - it really made it feel like a great experience. The hotel has tatami throughout - you remove your shoes when you arrive at the hotel. Check-in was straightforward and efficient. My room was really comfortable and a good size with plenty of space for luggage. Yukata is provided which you can wear throughout the hotel. The highlight was the onsens on the top floor - the large public bath is great and I tried one of the private ones which was really nice too. The hotel has laundry facilities which were useful and worked well. Breakfast was good (although busy) and had lots of dishes including local specialities from the area, primarily focused on Japanese food but with some Western choices. The staff were friendly and efficient. It was a really nice stay in the heart of Beppu and it was a really nice, semi-traditional experience for not much more money than a standard hotel room.

The private onsens were (unsurprisingly) in high demand and worked on a first-come-first-served basis which meant it was difficult to get a spot. You could monitor the status on the TV in your room. I ended up getting up at 3am to try one.

Definitely the private onsens! Each onsen has an unique theme, and friendly for couples, individuals, foreigners with tatoos, and family group. For 45 mins you can have your private onsen, all other customers were following this rule during our stay which was fantastic. The private onsens were really relaxing, and clean. Great facilities: Free ice-cream and drinks on the onsen floor. Paid Karaoke rooms. Manga reading room, massage chairs. The staff gave us 2 free noodles because of my birthday. Next to train station and bus stop, very convenient location.

The staff needs to be more informational and welcoming when they seeing new customers enter. We were a bit confused what to do when we first arrived, as there were several tasks you need to do. Like cleaning the luggage wheels, take off your shoes and put into the lockers and etc. Need some chairs for sitting around the shoe locker area.
