This is a very simple hotel but is great value for money: I paid barely S$45 for a night. The breakfast may seem limited to others (coz is not buffet but a traditional Japanese set). The fish given was a huge piece, the other condiments were good. My room has a window looking out to the train station & surround which I find it far more pleasant and of great value compared to the ‘sister” hotel which I stayed for a night and paid S$105. The reception staff were extremely polite and helpful too.

Location was fantastic, it was merely a minute walk from JR Beppu Station. There was no hot bath (sauna) at the hotel, but the receptionist will give you a coupon to their sister hotel which is about 2-3 minutes walk away. If you are going to the Beppu ropeway or the famous “Hells of Jigoku”, there’s bus right in front of the hotel side that will go directly to the said places. Yufuin Flora Village and Kinrin Lake was also about an hour train ride away. Think there’s was a bus heading there too but I didn’t take as I was taking Yufuin no Mori (one of the sightseeing train). There’s also a supermarket, FamilyMart, bookstores and restaurants at the station. I was staying at a tatami room that was meant for 3 persons, so the room was quite spacious was me.

Bathroom was abit too small even for a petite person like me, but overall was good as I went to the sister hotel for the hot spring bath =)

Check-in lobby and dinning room is on second floor. Hotel is right in front of Beppu Station. Free access to onsen at the sister hotel (Sea Wave) on the opposite of the Station. Family Mart and supermarket also at the Station. Strong WiFi signal. Good water pressure in shower. We stayed 3 nights comfortably in a twin room on the fourth floor. Although the exterior looks old fashioned, the interior has been renovated. No cigarette odor except on third floor where smoking room is located. Clean environment inside hotel room. We purchased breakfast for 900 yen per person. Meal is typical Japanese set breakfast with rice, grilled fish, natto, seaweed, miso soup and pickles. Will stay again if visiting Beppu area.

There was miscommunication about where the laundromat is located, but the staff took the effort to show me that the laundromat is located at the building next door to the beauty salon.

Free onsen at sister property 2 mins walk away which I take advantage of daily! Housekeeping and new towels provided everyday. Right by the railway station but I didn’t hear any train sound whatsoever. I had a problem with the bidet on the first day and the staff took action to make sure it works immediately, really grateful for that.

The loud beeping sound when someone is getting tea or coffee or water from the coffee/tea machine.

I enjoyed my stay at Business Hotel Star. The hotel location is great, the personnel are polite, and all the amenities have been provided. Price/Quality ratio met my expectations. I marked comfort level as good due to the fact the room is a standard small one suitable for 1 or 2 travelers. Nice choice for those who want to save some money and have a pleasant stay in Beppu. Breakfast was simple yet good!

None! Everything met my expectations.

One minute walk from the railway station. The room is small but enough to open my suitcase. The bed is good for a budget hotel. The staff cannot speak English well but did whatever they can help. There are plants of charging places in the room, which is unusual for this kid of old hotels.

The toilet is a bit too small for me. It is suggested that the bathtubs can be replaced by a pure shower place during next renovation.

1 minute walk from room to train platform, that's how close this hotel to the station. I really appreciate the coffee/tea/water dispenser on the 5th floor.

You can hear sounds of people in the corridor, cars on the streets, & the trains. The problem is that some guests make noises in the corridor at night,

close to train station, supermarket, restaurants, convenient location. Room was spacious, clean & value for money. Free parking. Like the option to pay at hotel.

have to cross the train station & road to another hotel for free onsen. Laundry area closed at 9pm. It will be better if open for 24 hours.

Very worth the price ; location, room, facility and staffs - Room is very clean, big and i think the bathroom renovated not long ago - No drinking water provided in the room but there is water machine at 5fl.

The location is brilliant. If you trip as you go out you fall in Beppu station. So any requirements you have are dealt with easily. Very good breakfast. Friendly staff. And free parking at the centre is the cherry on the cake.
