The English proficiency of the staff, particularly Edwin, and their kindness when our luggage was lost by the luggage forwarding company was very appreciated as we were stressed and frustrated. Staff were all very knowledgable about the area. Hotel facilities were clean and neat. Ver effective use of the small size of the room and ample storage space provided as well. The onsen kits provided by the hotel on request were convenient and enhanced our experience of Beppu. The breakfast buffet was delicious and I especially enjoyed the yuzu ponzu provided as an addition to the miso soup.

Beppu is a great place! We did not have a car so hotel’s proximity to train station and buses was great! I worried being so close to the station and tracks would mean a noisy room but it was not a problem at all. The free coffee machine in the lobby was a bonus and the coffee there was as good as any from nearby coffee shops. The lovely fresh flower displays in lobby were also a nice surprise.

The bed and pillows were a bit hard. But, ability to pick extra softer pillows from hallway supplies rack made it better.

The hotel is a few hundred meters from the station, which is both a good and bad thing. It was great because we didn't need to drag our bags very far once we got off the train, but we could hear the trains at night. It was actually not that bad, and I'm a light sleeper. The bed was very comfy and the room was comfy too. The staff were a little testy with us when we had a request about how to get to the Beppu Hells, and only one (a very nice lady from India) speaks English fluently - she was very helpful and we enjoyed talking to her. There are a lot of very interesting cafes and restaurants around, and the hotel is very close to some onsens and shopping districts, and 10 minutes from Beppu beach.

The air conditioner unit was right over our heads as we slept. It was a very strange design choice, and had it been on I think it would have been a bit uncomfortable for us to sleep. This is a very minor thing though.

The breakfast was phenomenal. I loved the chicken tempura and the mabo tofu the best. Staff was always very friendly and helpful in answering questions. Room was very comfortable. We parked our rental car here too. It's the station parking, underneath the tracks across from the hotel. When you park, you take a ticket and pay (500 yen per day I think?) at the front desk. They give you a special yellow ticket. When you leave you insert the original ticket given, then the ticket the hotel gave you.

The rooms were a little small, but that's typical for Japan. Also no onsen in the hotel :( but I was told that there is a very cheap one nearby

It was a very nice stay. The hotel is super close to the train station, so very practical for day trips, arrival and leave. But the double windows blocked the train sounds very good, I had no trouble sleeping. It is also quite close to the sea, so you can do seaside strolls or go to the shopping/ restaurant street near by. Obviously also a lot of Onsen near by. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.

The windows were milk glass and could only be opened a bit, so no view to the outside, sadly. Still a lot of day light came in.

Really close to the train station, very friendly staff and a very clean and tidy room. If you announce at the front counter that you are going to visit a nearby onsen they will supply you with a towel and some shampoo and soap.1

The shower is one of the old ones where you need to find the right temperature with the hot and cold faucets and it's pretty hard to find the right combination.

Great location. Good room size for its price.

I had to leave early but I wasn't able to purchase the breakfast for 7am when I checked in because too many guests had booked this timeslot whereas all the places (except convenience stores) where you can get food in the surrounding area open quite late, i.e. at 8am or later. The earliest breakfast time I could have got at the hotel was also 8 am. I was clearly and repeatedly told there was nothing she could do and to come at 8 tomorrow morning.

location staff everything that was written about the hotel we arrived early room wasn't ready but when we returned room was ready and our luggage had been taken to our room Umbrellas supplied due to wet weather breakfast was great location to railway station was wonderful this is a great place to stay close to all amenities and the best supermarket in Japan and not expensive could have spent a week here forget the big cities give these places a go .

nothing to dislike

It is a small restaurant for providing breakfast for a large number of guests. To avoid crowdedness, guests are asked about the time they prefer to have breakfast. The food is tasty and the service is excellent. Also the staff at the front desk are friendly and fluent in English (one of them could be a native English speaker, I guess) so you won't have any problems while checking-in or out.

No view for my room as it faces a residential building. Or you may face the railway tracks, then it may be noisy.

The room is really spacious more than expected. The hotel is near to the Beppu station for 5-min walk, also the bus stop for Yufuin and Beppu Jigoku. There is free brewed coffee service 2 times (morning and evening). The staff really friendly, helpful and mind their customer.

The toilet on the first floor has only 1 room for both men and women. Sometime the queue is too long lol
