Very friendly and helpful staff. Very good breakfast. Spacious and comfortable room. Walking to the main bus/train station is managable. Not far from the Ropeway which is a great way to view Mt Fuji and the Kawaguchi Lake. A wonderful restaurant right downstairs. A lovely bakery next to the hotel. A bus stop right next to the hotel (though the bus is not as frequent/punctual as we wanted). Could miss the hotel easily when one tries to look for it for the first time. The sign is small with just the Japanese name of the hotel. The entrance is seen only after walking up a flight of stairs towards the side of the building. So, please note that it is right opposite a huge hotel and that may help to find it.

Nothing.

Spacious room, friendly staff and refreshing onsen. Amazing location 15 minutes walk from Kawaguchiko station and right on the shore of the lake. Our room did not have views of Mt Fuji but one can easily see the mountain after a very short walk in most directions!

The room doesn't have a shower - this wasn't a big problem as the onsen was accessible most of the day.

I had an amazing experience staying at this Japanese motel. From the moment we arrived, he fatch us from the station to the motel with his car ,making me feel right at home. The room was impeccably clean, with a cozy and minimalist design. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. No lift however the kind helpful man carry up to our 3 Rd floor. I’m sorry for our the big heavy luggage’s. The motel was near beautiful lakeside.

The traditional Japan bathing was first time to experience lol. 😁.. but nice 😊 bathroom with high-quality toiletries and a refreshing onsen (hot spring) experience. The peaceful atmosphere made it a perfect retreat from the busy city life. And additional massage chair. ( old but still functional)

We made a last minute booking for one night because our day trip Mt. Fuji plan (from Tokyo) didn’t work out. We paid ¥30,400 for one night April 16th, 2025. Everything was at least good. The location is great, very close to restaurants and the rope line. We contacted the owner via Booking.com and he picked us up at Kawaguchiko Station. Everything was clean. The staff was very kind. Non-Japanese speakers, be prepared to translate. Shoe removal upon entry to the building is requested.

We don’t like the Japanese style room bedding so that’s why our comfort rating was low. Tbh though, my husband slept very well. We did not use the bath.

Amazing onsen and japanesse nightgown available at the property. Near the station and the lake. Great breakfast.

No english spoken, which is fair enough. But no communication either. I got there when we were expecting a typhoon, just some communication about the situation would have been nice. They don’t seem to like non japanesse guest that much.

We were staying in the Mt Fuji area for one quick night. Accidentally left some souvenirs at a restaurant in town, communicated this to the staff so they could help us arrange a taxi to collect the lost items, and they actually offered to drive us directly to the restaurant themselves. Did us a big favour and expected nothing in return! Generally, staff were friendly and helpful. Onsen was lovely and location not too distant from restaurants in town or train stations for attractions. Great value for money. Would happily stay again!!

It was reasonably priced for peak season and I was lucky to get a room at the last minute. It had a clean and comfortable Japanese style room and a hot spring. It was a short walk to restaurants etc. there was a lively restaurant on the first floor.

The hot spring was a bit run down but still clean and comfortable. Probably in its prime they served Japanese food but it didn’t seem as though they did that anymore. But having the restaurant below and bakery next door was all we needed.

This is a wonderful guest house and the team here have exceptional service. Whilst they have little English this was no barrier to them assisting us (through goggle translate) and make us feel incredibly welcome. On our day of the departure they even drive us to the bus station rather than calling us a taxi. It is perfectly located to everything and it's easy to walk, ride a bike or catch the local tourist bus all around the lake. We loved our stay here. Quite, comfortable and traditional.

There needs to be some signage to know that you are at the right place. Even if it was in Japanese as it took us a moment to sort it out - not a major but would be helpful.

I loved this property. I have been travelling to Japan for four weeks and this was my favourite place I stayed. I loved how traditional my room was with sliding doors, tatami flooring and the simplicity. I have not stayed anywhere quite like this in Japan and it is my last location before I return home, so this was amazing. The location speaks for itself, right next to Lake Kawaguchi. The whole property was spotless and clean and the staff were very helpful with how to get around, helped me book taxis too. No complaints whatsoever.

It seemed like every hotel in Kawaguchiko was booked solid over the winter holidays, so I was nervous about Wakamizuso. But it was fine! Everyone in those booked-up hotels must have been staying inside because nothing was crowded, except for the ropeway up Kachi Kachi mountain, which we climbed on foot. The Wakamizuso man rented bikes to the four of us, and we really really enjoyed circling the lake. No need for the electric bikes, as the course is flat unless you make some side excursion. We ate lunch at Ofukuro Udon in Nagahama and loved the old lady and her ferments. Too late a friend recommended the Itchiku Kubota Art Museum, which we unknowingly cycled right past. Next time! Back to Wakamizuso, I enjoyed the onsen bath. One simple hot pool and a small cold one. No view. But still great and I often had it to myself. We had the breakfast one day (upstairs, not in restaurant) and it was good, with the old lady cook eager for us to eat it while it was hot. But there is also a bakery next door. Also Fukurokujyu kaiseki restaurant was worth the walk in the dark! The room for the four of us was pleasant, with the great smell of tatami. Free WiFi.

There is actually a sign saying that if you don't speak some Japanese then this is the wrong place for you. We speak some Japanese, but you could probably get by with patience and sensitivity. Restaurant Coolio was ok.
