The property was really good, the view from the room was really good too, you can see from the left Lake Kawaguchiko and on the right Mount Fuji. The onsen and provided breakfast were really good too. Nice and quiet place.

Didn’t like the property where they don’t check their emails regularly and communication has been poor. The guy’s name Kajiwara at front reception has particularly rude to non Japanese speaking guest, there was a confusion with the booking.com for the number of people booked for the night and he didn’t offer any help to resolve the issue until one of his colleagues took over and help me dial the phone number to booking.com in Japan. Booking.com understood the problem and rectified it with the hotel and we managed to check in after 2 hours at the reception.

Beautiful surroundings comfortable and clean .

Make sure you book dinner in advance as they don’t accept same day reservations. The wait staff can be intimidating watching you eat . Kind of far walking distance from restaurants .

The hotel was right on Lake Kawaguchiko. We jogged along the lakeside walking path at sunrise and found some beautiful views of Fuji-San as the day began. The room was well equipped and the Futons were comfortable and the staff was courteous.

Our bathroom drain was somewhat plugged. The tub drained very slowly and backed up into the floor drain of the bathroom. Onsen on the premises not available for us as we both have small tattoos. The hope the Japanese hospitality industry evolves away from this custom of excluding tattooed guests

The onsen was tattoo friendly. The outdoor onsen was also gorgeous. Our room had a view of Mount Fuji and the lake. Room was very clean and spacious. Four of us were comfortable and enjoyed the toilet and shower area that were also separate from the sleeping area. The yukata robes were very nice too. Walking distance to lots of great restaurants and a convenience store. Ample parking. Nice little gift shop too. Breakfast was a different variety of small dishes each morning. Delicious!

The toilet room was very small. Dinner was expensive; we went elsewhere and saved money.

A basic Japanese room with an excellent view. The restaurant needs to be booked up front so we didn't try it.

A pickup and drop from the station is included, but available only during certain times of day.

The onsen looked exactly like the pictures. We were hoping for more facilities. They only had and one outdoor and one indoor onsen. For the price we were hoping for more amenities. The room itself was great, traditional Japanese styled room. The location was right on the lake which is great but it was a bit of a walk. Buses were available if you have a bus pass. Also it was great they were tattoo friendly and no need to cover up!

Didnt like the they asked 24 hours before if we wanted to have dinner. I felt like that should be sorted when booking. I didnt have wifi and was trying to navigate so it was a lot and we were unable to do the dinner experience. The also sent the email in japanese which is fine but google translate made it seem like dinner was included so the miscommunication was there. If its listed in the booking to include dinner or not that would have been easier.

My husband and I loved our stay at the Royal Hotel. From the time we arrived, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We booked the dinner and breakfast package, and were so impressed with the quality and quantity of the food. We enjoyed the experience of eating traditional Japanese food in a traditional way. The onsen was so beautiful and relaxing, and the yukata a really nice touch! We enjoyed being close to the lake and got some really nice pictures of Mt. Fuji, when the clouds cooperated. Would definitely recommend this place!

Exceptional staff service. We had a Japanese style room & only spent one night. It was only a short walk to the touristy area but far enough to have a quiet walk on the lake (lake shores). I do smoke when on holiday & the area provided was not put in a scrapy corner like others I have seen. We had views of the lake which were wonderful & I can imagine that the view of Mt Fuji would be just as good on the other side of the hotel. Some good value souvenirs in reception also.

To be honest, I cannot think of anything. We do not go to 5 star hotels.

Room was very spacious. Facilities were excellent. The futon beds were very comfortable. Great location on the lake with an excellent view of Mt Fuji, weather permitting!

Lack of onsite dining and distance from the centre of town with other dining options. The challenge of getting into and out of low set futon beds for older, unfit and unflexible westerners!

Amazing hotel with onsen facility. Good location at Kawaguchiko 1.3 km from train station however the hotel arranges for shuttle service to pick up and drop (check the timings ), good restaurants around. The hotel offers such amazing fine Japanese style breakfast and dinner ( need to book 1 day in advance ) but I must say it was top notch. Loved my stay here

Since the location is 1.3 km away from train station it’s difficult to leave before 8:30 am that’s the first shuttle as you need to walk a lot and it’s difficult
