We booked this hotel as a bit of a splurge having read the excellent reviews and the inclusion of a private outdoor onsen as part of the room. Rooms were beautifully appointed (modern, high end, traditional) with everything you could need. Loved the delineation of outside shoes and inside footwear and the provision of yukata's for dining. The food is traditional Japanese and we enjoyed the hotel dinner one night which was 8 courses of incredibly unique and delicious dishes (with a significant proportion of seafood.) The service was impeccable, friendly and polite, you are escorted to breakfast and dinner to your dedicated eating space. Lounge access is open for tea, coffee and juice throughout the day. But truly the best part was, after a day of cycling around the lakes or hiking, to be able to sink into 41 degree water in your own private onsen... bliss!

Everything was excellent. The staff were friendly. The check-in process was quick and they arranged a taxi for us at checkout. It was also an excellent location. The room exceeded our expectations with 2 large tvs, heated floors, large private onsen. Very clean, well maintained, and comfy. We had a great a great time.

We had no complaints and plan to return. I would highly recommend this onsen.

The hotel's interior design and touches are beautiful. The room was very clean and comfortable with Japanese style futon beds. We enjoyed the outside onsen and bathroom products. Breakfast was a Japanese feast, with an incredible amount of tastes and courses. The staff were very kind and helpful.

We stayed for 4 nights at the end of a long trip to treat ourselves and would have liked some flexibility in the breakfast to have less. We were collected for breakfast from our room at a specified time which was fine but just something to get used to. The hotel is on a busy road with no views but it is a short walk to the lake.

This was literally the best hotel I’ve been to my whole life The staff was so considerate and helpful they helped with the luggages and booked a cab for us and we were supposed to go to a different hotel at first but they canceled us for some reason so we booked last minute they didn’t had the small room that we booked so they upgraded us on the house to the gigantic suite and we are very grateful Breakfast was huge with a lot of different things in a private traditional theme and the room we got had a wonderful private onsen andddd a second floor with a clear mount fuji view

Literally nothing it was the best

Everything about Fuji Onsenji Yumedono is wonderful. It is located on a very busy street in Fujikawaguchiko, however once you arrive at the property you are transported to a quiet oasis of calm and beauty. The property is refined and beautiful complete with delightful koi pond. Our room with the private onsen was perfect and clean. We ordered dinner and are very glad we did as it was exceptional! One of the best meals we had in Japan (and we dined at some of the finest restaurants in Tokyo and Kyoto) The food was delicious and the presentation extraordinary. I took photos of the food which I do not typically do, see attached. I did not get great photos of the property that do it justice. The staff is professional and attentive. The gentleman that tended to us the most was so very lovely and even shared his recommendations for the best place to view Mt Fuji. You can walk right up to the top of the street for a great sighting!

Very small request. I wish coffee in the lounge areas was available earlier than 7:30 a.m. in the morning.

We stayed at the Aoinoma suite which was very spacious with two separate toilets. The kaiseki breakfast and dinner at the accommodation was amazing, highly recommend at least trying it once. The aircon was great, wifi was great, and private onsen was great too, except we didn't use it much as we were visiting in summer and it was too hot even at night. It would be great for autumn/winter seasons. The lounge which is open from 8am-6pm has complimentary drinks including starbucks coffee machine, coke, tea, orange juice and white and red wine. All the staff were very friendly and attentive, however, limited in English, hence being able to speak a bit of Japanese would be handy.

If we are to nitpick, the pillows were quite soft for our liking and the fridge was quite small, whereby the freezer compartment was tiny and did not work very well.

Teishoku style breakfasts were excellent and included with the stay. We were placed on an upstairs area for our checkout day breakfast with a perfect view of Mt Fuji. Room was comfortable in all aspects. Noise from the surrounding roads was mysteriously blocked out very well. Some nice complimentary drinks. Staff were very professional and always trying to make your stay more convenient/comfortable in some way. Shuttle provided to Kawaguchiko station.

The common/lounging areas closed quite early so we couldn't take advantage of the complimentary drinks much. No laundry option of any kind, but there are laundromats a ~10 min walk away. No snacks on-site, only drinks (stock more of those rice crackers you provide a free sample of!)

I really liked the room with the private onsen. My partner and I shied away from public onsens due to tattoos and other reasons but after a week exploring Japan hiking up and down stairs and long distances I really thought we could use a relaxing night. When I saw that there was one one room left in a town nearby with a beautiful room with a private terrace and onsen I went for it and I was not disappointed. The staff was so friendly and handled luggage and prepared a very specialized breakfast for us. They saw we bought some champagne and ran over with an ice bucket and glasses even through we were fully ready just to use the cups that were in the room. They made it very special.

I have no real complaints it really was truly amazing. I'm definitely not used to a full service hotel but that's a me issue.

A Truly Special Traditional Ryokan Experience at Fuji Onsenji Yumedono We stayed at Fuji Onsenji Yumedono, a beautiful traditional Japanese ryokan located near Lake Kawaguchiko, and it was a truly special experience. We booked two rooms — one was a newer, modern villa-style suite in a separate area, which was absolutely lovely. The other room, for three adults, was located in the main building and was more traditional and a bit older in style. Each room includes a private onsen, which was a real highlight. Soaking in the hot spring bath after a long day of exploring was incredibly relaxing and luxurious. The main building has a cozy lounge with complimentary hot and cold drinks, available throughout the day — a very nice touch. The staff were exceptionally kind and attentive, offering some of the best service we encountered in Japan. Breakfast was served in a traditional Japanese-style dining room. Since we don’t eat fish, the staff kindly arranged a Western-style breakfast for us the next morning without any issue. Overall, this was a unique and memorable experience, blending warm hospitality, traditional charm, and modern comfort. Highly recommended for those seeking a peaceful and authentic stay near Mount Fuji.

The only thing we found slightly uncomfortable was the pillows, which were quite firm and not to our personal preference.

We enjoyed the private onsen in our apartment and the zen environment of the property. I appreciate the service crew’s extra mile of services and helpfulness. It was great to have onsite parking facilities too.

We found a cockroach in our apartment. However, given that it’s a landed property facility, we have decided to overlook this as pests tend to appear for ground floor properties. The traditional Japanese breakfast set is filled with different fish dishes and preserved vegetables. Although it can be challenging for foreigners to accept, we felt that it’s a good way for us to experience the local culture.
