The breakfast was good, with the price we pay, we got a lot of variety, typical Japanese breakfast. Very impressed by the little plates they used for each dish. Our favourite is the omelette dish, after you consumed the food, the reflection of the Mt. Fuji dramatically appeared in the plate. Service was excellent, appreciated the kindness and thoughtfulness of the owner, he did everything by himself. The dining area was spacious and we always meet different international travellers in the breakfast room, a lot of interesting conversations. Good onsen, and you can see Mt. Fuji on the toproof if weather permits. It is the Japanese style tatami, an unique experience.

You have to walk outside your room to use the toilet, otherwise, it is a great ryokan experience.

Low key ryokan. It was in a pretty nice area right by the lake that was easy to get to. The sight seeing bus stop was only about a 5 min walk away. There's a grocery store around a 15 min walk away and I also found a nice Izakaya restaurant that was also around 15 min away. There was also an onsen on site which was nice to use. Of the few times I went, I was the only one so I had it all to myself. I was lucky because I stayed in the middle of the week so there was maybe only 1 or 2 other patrons. On a nice day you can see Mount Fuji right from the rooftop terrace (it was the only place I ended up seeing Mount Fuji in my trip in June). The owner also let me know you can also get a nice view of mount fuji from the bridge nearby. Would highly recommend if you want to experience a ryokan instead of a hotel. It wasn't the most fancy place but it was exactly as described and expected. I found the room quite large for Japanese standards. I'd definitely stay there again if I ever went back to the area.

This property is a hidden gem. Myself and my partner loved this place so much. If you are after the traditional Japanese Ryokan experience then this is the perfect spot. The owners are lovely and unbelievably hospitable. Our room was fitted with traditional Tatami flooring and were provided with comfortable Yukata’s to wear around the communal space. The futon beds are a perfect end to the night and are very warm. The Onsen bath was the perfect final activity after a long day exploring also. I recommend heading to their rooftop area either for morning coffee or an afternoon drink to soak up Mt.Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko. The free shuttle in the morning to the station is an added bonus as it is the owner taking you himself! Please if you stay be respectful to the property/owners and make the most of your time as i wish we stayed longer. 10/10 will recommend to anyone that is in the area.

Firstly, the owner was quick to respond to any queries sent to them. There was also transport arranged from Kawaguchiko station to the Ryokan. At the end of the stay, there was also transport from the Ryokan back to the station. The room was extremely spacious for 1 person. It could easily fit up to 3 comfortably. The room also had a direct view of Mount Fuji. There was also a roof viewing area for an even better viewing of Fuji. The bath was decorated beautifully and included an indoor onsen for guests. The breakfast was value for money and really delicious. There was a wide variety of food such as fresh tuna sashimi, nabe, fried salmon, salad, fruits etc.

It is a 30 minute walk to Kawaguchiko station where most of the food and shopping are. This means that going for dinner would require half an hour at least.

This is a Japanese-style hotel on the bank of Lake Kawaguchi. We had a very traditional room, you should stay in this hotel if you want to experience true authentic Japanese lifestyle. When we entered our room there was only a low table and nothing else. You need to set up your own sleeping place by finding the futons, duvets and pillows from the cupboard. There was no shower in our room and we needed to go to onsen to take a bath and shower. Toilets are also public on the floor. Breakfast was exceptional, the best one we had during our trip to Japan. The hotel has a nice observation deck with a Fuji view.

We loved staying at Akaishi Ryokan! Watanabe-san was the kindest host. He picked us up from the station and helped us with any questions we had. The onsen was so nice and everything was perfectly clean! We loved our first Ryokan experience, and really enjoyed the yukatas. The heating in the room was very nice and the futons were thick and comfortable. The breakfast was amazing! Even so much good food that we could barely finish it. Would definitely book again!

Akaishi has a wonderful location right on Lake Kawaguchi. It is not too far from the train station and close to a good bike rental spot, so if you are planning to bike around Kawaguchiko, this is a great base. Breakfast is delicious and I would highly recommend adding it. The rooftop offers a direct view of Mt. Fuji when it is out, so we would wake up on a cloudy morning, eat, and then head to the roof when the clouds had cleared enough to see it. You can book some private onsen time if you want it for an additional fee, just talk to the owners! They are so nice.

The location is a little far from dinner spots (10+ minute walk), so plan accordingly.

The experience we had here was memorable. Comfortable rooms, excellent location, right on the lake and above all, the stellar view of Mount Fuji from the roof top and over looking the lake. This is a million dollar view with a peaceful ambiance. You can walk to the station along the lake, the local bus is less than five minutes away. Very convenient. A shout out to the breakfast which was excellent. The owner went out of his way to prepare a full traditional Japanese breakfast with an aesthetic, that made the experience so memorable. Delicious! Thank you for a wonderful experience and we will be back. Thank you also to the reviewers who recommended this place, otherwise we would have missed out. High recommended 10/10

Loved everything

This is a traditional, simple ryokan, located along the lake, about 25 minutes walk from the station. They offer transport to the station the morning you leave but not pick up. The walk, however it's absolutely gorgeous if you don't have much luggage. We stayed in the Japanese style room with tatami and had a perfect wiew of mt Fuji from our window. The toilet was located outside the room but it was close and very clean. The Japanese breakfast in the morning was scrumptious. And, though we didn't have dinner included, there are a few restaurants nearby and facilities to worm up food and eat it in the room.
