Beautiful private bath. Excellent and attentive service. Room has all the necessary amenities with some added extras like skincare. Breakfast buffet had hundreds of delectables Japanese and western items. Parking was close by and very convenient.

Not sure why Japanese hotels do not add fragrance to their hotel lobbies and public areas. Most other Asian tourist destinations have been doing this for years. It creates a calmer, more luxurious experience. Room only provided one pillow each. Please consider making at least two pillows available per person for the ryokan rooms as well.

This hotel is located in a nice spot by the beach a bit further out from the main Hakodate town center. The view from this hotel is amazing. I really liked the outdoor onsen on level 4 and having a private onsen in my room just completed the trip. I was there in winter so it was really nice seeing the snow fall whilst soaking in the onsen. There is a good selection of good quality food at the buffet breakfast and dinner. They had king crab legs during dinner time which was very popular amongst the guests. Hanatsuki is almost like a club room because it is a separate section of the Heiseikan Shiosaitei hotel. You have access to a private Hanatsuki lounge as well where they would serve you drinks and snacks. Overall, this hotel was a perfect hotel to celebrate our Valentine's day. It was a good hotel to relax and wind down after the 2 weeks of exploration we did around Japan.

Not a complaint because I really enjoyed the food but I was expecting a kaiseki style dinner and breakfast. They provided one special dish for each meal and the rest of the food was from the buffet selection. I should have looked a bit more into it but this is definitely not a deal breaker because the buffet food was amazing.

The ocean view with our attached onsen tub was such a wonderful experience. The room was spacious, the staff would come in to set up our futon which were so comfortable. They always replenished the fridge and the snack bar which was great for our stay.

Breakfast buffet was quite early and you have to be there at least 30 mins before to give yourself enough time to eat your breakfast by 9am which was an absolute finish time.

Milion dollar view from the hotel lobby and room at the Pacific Ocean/Japanese sea. Private onsen (hot spring water) in the wooden tube on balcony. Public onsen for man/woman. Japanese style accommodation. Staff and service. Location in the northern island - Hokkaido (great in summer heats of Japan) with an easy access to beautiful city of Hakodate. Only 4 hours (860 km) by bullet train Hayabusa (Shinkansen) from the Tokyo Station.

The staff at the front desk were very efficient and hospitable. Hanatsuki seems to be some sort of a club lounge part of heiseikan shiosaitei, there is a separate entrance and the staff will actually lead you to your rooms while explaining the facilities of the hotel to you. There is a complimentary free dish during the dinner buffet and they were very kind to make amendments should you have any requests. You would have to let them know in advance though! The room was huge and really cozy - made you just want to lounge in it the whole day while watching the waves.

The room got really warm from the heating. We're not sure if it is directly related to the aircon in the room but it felt alot less stuffy once we had it turned off. Small issue really

While a little old, it is in excellent condition, and the facilities were clean and well maintained. Excellent public baths. The japanese-style room with ocean view and private bath was magical. I sat in the bath watching snowflakes fall, with the sound of waves crashing. Service was excellent. Breakfast buffet was worth it. Extensive selection.

It's away from the central area, so if you are arriving by train, I recommend getting a taxi instead of taking the tram. But that's the only

fantastic accommodation the dinner and breakfast accommodation was amazing- great selection of delicious high-quality food, especially enjoyed the fresh seafood! the specials for each meal were an added bonus public onsens were relaxing and easy to use, and the private onsen in our room was lovely and peaceful walking distance from a delicious highly rated ramen place for lunch, and an easy drive around sights around hakodate highly recommend

we were not used to the futons and the flat/hard pillows so we found it quite uncomfortable to sleep at night only two small lounge chairs for 2 people (we had five) so most of us were sitting on floor mats when relaxing in our room- which wasn't too often anyway!

I really liked the private onsen , the staff were very friendly and easy to talk to . The location is great , you can get there from Hakodate station using the bus and go back the same way . There are convenient stores around it .

Nothing everything was perfect.

1. The room is super spacious. 2. The living room and the private bath have ocean view. 3. The mini bar is free of charge. 4. Staff was very helpful and friendly. 5. It's reachable by public buses (95, 95A and 96) from/to Hakodate station. 6. Dinner was awesome. The varieties were beyond expectation. They even served free-flow crabs. 7. Breakfast was great as well. It's better than any hotels I've ever stayed around the globe. 8. Amenities were all provided in the room (unlike other hotels in Japan these days).

1. The futon was a bit hard. 2. There was no way to control the room temperature. It was a bit warm, so I was sweating all night.

Beautiful views. Incredibly friendly staff. Private onsen was amazing. Loved the ocean noise.

The windows are south facing so the room and dining area got really hot (even with the AC set to high in the room). Might be a seasonal thing. Temp outside was mid sixties so a winter stay might be more comfortable?
