Asante Inn was one of our favorite places we stayed during our trip to Japan. The garden is beautiful and is backed by Japanese hillside making for a gorgeous view from our room and for dinner. The Onsen was private and very peaceful, and it was easy to reserve a time slot of arrival. We had dinner and breakfast at the Inn, both of which were fantastic. They also had thought of lots of extra services to make the stay easier, including a shuttle service and baggage forwarding to the nearest train station. As others have mentioned, if taking the bus there is a 5-10min paved walk uphill to reach the Inn which may be challenging for those with mobility issues.

Feel really comfortable there, the vibes, and you can always meet different people travel from difference places and greet to each other, relax or having dinner in the lobby area, and you feel you are in traditional Japanese home and that's why we'd like to experience in Japan. The Onsen is nice too, food is not bad as well, and super nice staffs there.

The room we had was very lovely and big enough for 4 of us, it's at the side of 2nd floor, however, there's one thing bothers us - there's a window on one side of the wall, a nice Japanese style one, good to have it, but it doesn't have curtain, so it's too bright at 5am in summer time.... and couldn't sleep much. The location is not great, but they run shuttle bus in the morning for sending to the center area, that helps a lot. Onsen is 40 mins, a bit rush, maybe 1 hour is better, but fair enough since everyone can get to use it at night.

Astonishing view and nicely decorated place. Excellent breakfast and dinner. The staffs are friendly and helpful to any queries. It's the best place we've ever stayed during our Japan trip. The highlight of this place? Their onsen. The vibe—it was quite therapeutic and peaceful. I wish we had more time to enjoy the onsen.

Gora station was quite far from the place—the staff didn't give us a heads up that walking meant that we'll be climbing the mountain XD we got lost and ended up in the road, not noticing the tiny sign in the woods saying it's a shortcut to Gora station. We arrived at Gora station after 25min~ all sweaty and panting haha, especially it's summer.

The staff was lovely. We had dinner and breakfast at the inn and both were very good. The room was large and comfortable. Shared shower rooms were very clean. It was so nice to get a ride to town in the morning in the hotel van. Very peaceful location.

Getting there was a challenge. We had our luggage transferred to the hotel by a delivery service in the Hakone-Yumoto train station so we could explore the area before check in without our bags. Highly recommend this option! We walked to the inn from Gora Station and it was not an easy walk, even without bags; lots of steep stairs. Other options are taxi or bus.

I love this place so much, everything is so amazing (Onsen experience, bedroom, landscape and cozy atmosphere,ect). Indeed i even don’t know why it is just 1-star-hotel 🥲. The experience made me felt like i was home and would love to come back in the future. I guess the most outstanding one was the “authentic Ryokan style”, i had searched for this from many other places but i do feel like there is not much place now can offer such traditional style like this guest house. Btw, the staff is so supportive to help me call taxi and cook amazing food for us <3.

What a gem of a place! The garden and Onsen were fantastic. I loved the dorm room option as it allowed me access to this guest amazing guest house. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was great and a good value. The breakfast was very worth it! I also greatly appreciated the daily shuttle options to the station. The massage chair was a special surprise 😃

There is not much in walking distance in terms of restaurants or shops. The hike up the hill to the guest house can wind you a little. The stairs from Gora station are no joke! Don't attempt them with any luggage. (As guest house staff warns).

The private Onsen was really nice! The food was also delicious, and we met some other friendly guests in the common space area. I also liked the free shuttle service provided. The room was really nice with comfy futons.

Walking up the hill to get to the hostel was a bit rough with my friend’s injured leg. I wish they offered a shuttle service to pick people up from the bus stop or something. There are two onsens (left and right) that you can book. One Onsen is twice the size of the other and more ideal for a larger group. We weren’t informed and accidentally booked the smaller Onsen which was a bit awkward.

This traditional inn met expectations, the excellent reviews are all correct! The staff couldn't be more helpful, the inn is charming with a beautiful traditional garden and private onsen which is free for everyone to reserve a slot in daily. The food in the cosy communal room was also great and it was a fantastic experience for my kids to use the onsen (they would be too embarrassed to go naked in a public one!), wear yukata (traditional dressing gowns) and sleep on roll mat beds.

Everything is great here but you do need follow their instructions about coming by bus, or get the luggage delivery people to deliver your luggage from Hakone Yamamoto. The path down from Gora is just as steep as everyone says - only fit people with rucksacks could carry luggage down it. When booking through booking.com there is a page in the photos with clear instructions on getting the bus from Odwarda.

Little oasis on the hillside - gorgeously designed common area with a fireplace facing a zen garden and the mountains beyond. The onsen are wonderfully relaxing - as is the massage chair i discovered belatedly on the last day! Only downside is it is a little out of the way but that’s probably also why you get the garden and views. Despite staying in a dormitory i had my best sleep of all my trip here - and the dormitory was just four beds, with lots of privacy provided by curtains.

I was just a bit disappointed i really wanted to get to the ropeway early when the sky was still blue (so ahead of the first shuttle provided by the guesthouse) and the reception suggested using an app to get a taxi but there were no taxis on the app. For future reference i suggest the reception books taxis directly for guests and makes them aware the apps won’t work.

The reservable onsen (left one) was very relaxing, there is a first come first served reservation process (it closes at 22:30), so in case of a late check-in it might not be available. The room with tatami and futon in Japanese style was very nice and we slept very well. The dining area in front of the zen garden is also cozy and nice. The shuttle service to Gora station and the open air museum and the service of forwarding the luggages to another station in Hakone the same day

The coffee is not free and only available at breakfast, and it did not taste like a great coffee to justify that.
