Our stay at Hotel New Grand was unforgettable. The service was outstanding, with plenty of staff who were all helpful, polite, and friendly—always ready to assist with a smile. The location is unbeatable. We splurged a bit for a room with a view, and it was worth every yen. Perched on the 14th floor, our room had large glass windows offering a breathtaking view over the port and Yamashita Park. I could easily spend hours just soaking in the scenery. The room itself had a nostalgic charm, reminiscent of a classic hotel from the ‘90s—a style I absolutely adore. It was cozy and elegant, adding to the overall experience. To our surprise, Yokohama quickly became our favorite city in Japan. This was our first time visiting the country, and we explored Tokyo, Sapporo, Niseko, and Osaka, but Yokohama stood out. The city has a relaxed pace, not as rushed as Tokyo or Osaka, making it the perfect place to unwind. We can’t wait to return to Hotel New Grand and experience this view, comfort, and warm hospitality all over again. Highly recommended!

I booked my room and it was for breakfast included. That means all the guests in my opinion. Then at check in we were told our children have to pay. This is wrong and embarrassing. I refused to pay and the hotel did not charge us. Please correct this policy for future guests. Breakfast included should mean everyone. Not just parents. !!

I recently stayed at Hotel New Grand and it was such a special experience. What I loved the most was the historic atmosphere — you can really feel the elegance and charm from another era the moment you walk in. The Main Building especially felt like stepping into a beautiful piece of history, with high ceilings, gorgeous staircases, and breathtaking views of the ocean. The location was perfect too — right across from Yamashita Park, and just a short walk to Chinatown and Motomachi. It made it so easy to explore Yokohama. The service was outstanding. Every staff member I met was kind, professional, and made me feel very welcome. Overall, it wasn't just a hotel stay — it felt like being part of something timeless. I would absolutely love to come back again someday.

When we were there, the Center Park was under renovation, and we didn’t know about it — no one told us. It was supposed to be one of the main highlights of the hotel, so it was a little disappointing. Also, depending on the room, the facilities like bathrooms or elevators might feel a bit dated. The room key is also an old-fashioned physical key instead of a card, so it could be a little inconvenient if you’re going out and need to carry it around with you. But honestly, these were very minor things compared to how beautiful and special the whole stay felt.

We reserved a room with a view of the bay. They gave us the 13 floor, It had a superb view of the gardens and the pier. We came back to Yokohama with a cruise, It is very close to, say 600 más of the pier. The bus stop to Haneda AirPort is right in front of the hotel. 100 mts from Chinatown gate, 200 mts of the the Tower and 500 mts of Motomachi street. It is a Classic beautiful hotel. There is no better location for a person who cruises from Yokohama.

Location was great. Stayed here for 2 nights before boarding a cruise - we could walk to the ship . Staff were exceptional - we had a very early flight in and so left cases with them before we could check in ,we had to come back to retrieve some things from luggage and they were pleased to help.

Didn’t know what to expect as hadn’t been to Japan previously. Nothing we didn’t like to be fair. There was a bit of confusion as our son (20’s) had decided to join us last minute so we changed the booking to 3 and seem to have lost the ‘inc breakfast ‘ bit . This seemed expensive to add back in so we ate breakfast elsewhere. Not ashamed to admit one morning was at McDonald’s 50m up the road! We didn’t eat at the hotel in the end.

Good : Staff are always very helpful , friendly and try their best to make the stay a happy experience , most speak reasonable English. Hotel boasts old world charm with its decor and furnishings. We had an upgrade due to my partners dietary requirements which gave access to the -16th floor club room . Daily nibbles and drinks, free flow alcohol 5-7. Room was comfortable shower and bath facilities all good. breakfast was al la carte with two choices of western and a Japanese choice. food was nice but limited in choice and proportions but you can ask for more . Excellent location next to park and flower garden, ideal if your a runner/ walker. Our stay was on the weekend there was plenty of entertainment , music festival , dance / media show . Car show, all in close proximity to the hotel. Note it’s allot quieter on weekdays.

Unfortunately the first night I woke up from being bitten by bed mites, I had to vacate the bed and sleep in the other bed. The staff were very apologetic and sorted the issue the next day - no other issues during our stay .. Just a note if your a gym junkie your out of luck there isn’t one though the rooms have carpeting and the gardens across the road give scope for some exercises. Would we return if we visited Yokohama again- probably.

Don’t worry that the hotel isn’t located directly in Minato Mirai, or that it might take a long time to reach Tokyo. The hotel is close to Motomachi-Chūkagai Station, from which you can easily access both areas. You can travel straight to Shibuya or Shinjuku in just 30–40 minutes without even changing trains, thanks to the through-service. It was very convenient to do business in Tokyo during my trip, and I have no regrets about choosing to stay in Yokohama because of this hotel’s location. All the hotel staff were outstanding—the reception, food, facilities, and the views from the room were all first-class. As a cherry on top, you even get a taste of the hotel’s historic background. Considering its affordable price, I think this place is a real gem in Yokohama—not only for travelers on business in the city, but also for anyone needing access to the greater Tokyo metropolitan area.

Our room was in the corner on the 14th floor - the view was exceptional. We could see the marine tower and the Yokohama bay/ Yamashita Park all at once - it couldn't have been more romantic; it beat any expensive high-floor restaurants in Yokohama. The room was very spacious, too and the bed was so comfortable. The staff was very courteous and elegant at front desk and everywhere else ... they were all so thoroughly professional in an old fashioned way (the Best Way). The breakfast at a Japanese restaurant Tan-kuma was wonderful and their signature Spaghetti Napolitan at The Cafe was superb as well!

When we had dinner at The Cafe (which was fantastic), we charged it to our room. We were told we'd get 10 % off at check-out as the hotel guests, but we didn't. Also we found out later that we had been charged 3,000 yen (about $20) for "Room Service." The only "Room Service' we can think of having used was asking for new sets of towels and the room cleaning (once during our 3 nights stay)... They charge 3,000 yen for that?! We wish they had shown and explained the bill to us at check-out. When you stay at Hotel New Grand, you feel too elegant to care about such details. When they gave us an envelope that contained the final bill, we just received it gracefully and signed the credit card while talking about how great our stay was... oh well. We paid for that care-free-ness!

Wow! I don’t even know where to start. We stayed for four nights, and I wished we could have stayed longer. The service was absolutely incredible—unlike anything I’ve ever experienced at a hotel. The in-house bar was fantastic, with outstanding service there as well. The hotel’s ambiance is magical. Our room was spacious, and the view was breathtaking. We did have one night when the guests upstairs were a bit noisy, but the hotel staff was incredibly helpful and resolved the issue immediately. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we will definitely be coming back!
