Great for females. Great location. Right above Keihan line railway station which takes you straight to Osaka. The elevator bring you right down to the train station. Very cute ambience. Powder room provides hair dryer and straightener. Cafe at the first floor is free to use and can bring in your own food. Free kettles and humidifiers for individual use. Private rooms.
Unable to deliver your luggages here from other hotels as there isn’t always someone at the reception. If arrive before the check in time, use the doorbell/intercom to call a staff. The instructions were unclear to us. There’s a phone number posted on the door to call staff but as a foreigner, the phone number did not work for us.

Loved, loved, loved this place. Although rooms are small it was managable for 3 of us and the storage under the beds really helpful. Shared bathrooms were clean and really well set up, it felt like we were glamping in a way. The location is excellent, we couldn't have asked for better. Such easy access by train or foot to so many things to do and see. There are over 2000 temples and shrines in Kyoto so if that's your thing this is a great place to stay plus the night life and shopping district across the bridge (think it's called Pochanto) from here was amazing. Access to train station couldn't be easier, just take the lift down to the bottom level. 7 Eleven handy. And cherry blossom viewing a plenty! Highly recommend.

Absolutely perfect location, really nice comfortable rooms and amazing facilities. The bathrooms and showers were kept super clean and provided so many amenities, it was a truly exceptional stay. The staff were very kind and helpful, and we were even able to check in slightly before 4pm. In general, the location is really perfect for exploring all the surrounding shrines by foot and it lies directly on the river to cross over to the more commercial center. There are two metro stations located directly underneath so travelling further out or arriving by train is also very easy.
The only minor issue would be the fact that storing luggage after checkout costs 200Y per bag, and we were told we could only store one piece per person. Since we both had 2 big bags, it was somewhat inconvenient to walk around the city for the next few hours with our heavy bags. Still, 200Y is not too expensive and this was really the only issue we ever encountered in our amazing stay.

I love the Gion area so much and CAFETEL was right next to the Kamo River for the best day time and night time experience. This is hands-down my favourite area to stay in Kyoto. An easy walk to explore the area or Sanjo is also a really convenient area to do day trips to Osaka, Uji, Nara, etc. and get around the city by Kyoto subway or by Keihan railway. CAFETEL was super clean, comfortable, affordable, and had all the amenities. The staff were super nice and accommodating, we stored our bags there for ¥200 yen each, and the shared cafe on the first floor is super cute. We didn't try the food but it looked like such a cozy place to hang out. There are games to borrow, you can bring food in to eat and use the space, and there were humidifiers to borrow (that were free!). The shower rooms, sinks, bathrooms, etc. were all so clean and well done. Everything is also decorated to be a home-y feminine experience. Would highly recommend for a trip for the girls! The rooms for 3 are so perfect; beds, pillows, duvet, sheets, all were so clean and comfy. There were many hooks, tables, and under bed storage to put all your things and plugs for everyone. A great space to wind down after a long day out exploring. The rooms are also an adorable house shape :) 10/10 experience.

I like that the hostel is only for the ladies. The place is so quiet. The area also quiet. Its located nearby the Keihan line (direct lift to the station) and also the subway tozai line. There are 2 washing machines (300yen) and 2 dryers (100yen) and please set an alarm when you start your machine. Dont leave it too long inside the machine, someone else might want to use it too.
The room is a bit small for 3 person. You cant let your luggage open all the time. You have to store it under your bed. And avoid to bring more than 1 luggage per person. There is a bigger room at the same level so maybe need to request beforehand. I trust the picture before booking and already expected they might assign us to a different room.

This hotel was so cute!!! Fantastic girly vibes and great shower and vanity spaces. It was nice to have so much room to get ready in the morning. My friend and I stayed in one of the rooms that fits three girls, so we were able to use the third bed space for our luggage. The hotel elevator gores directly down to the train station so it is super easy to jump on a train and go where you want to go. The hotel is a quick walk to the Pontocho alley with tons of restaurants. It is also easy to walk around the Gion District from the hotel. I would strongly recommend this to any girls looking going to Kyoto.

The staff were so friendly and professional and I loved the location. The shower rooms and beauty stations were also super nice for being a hostel. there was even bathtubs in the showerroom, never seen that in a hostel before.
There really wasnt a common area to hang out in or eat your own food etc. overall it really Is not a social hostel. Theres a cafe but that was very quiet, felt more like a place people go to to work. There isnt any social events for nighttime like some other hostels do. If you want to hang out and be social you have to leave the hostel really.

The room was small but cozy and comfortable. Facilities were nice and clean. Good location and the little cafe was a nice way to end a busy day. I liked that you could take an elevator directly from the hostel to the train station. My daughters (13 and 21) really enjoyed this place, it was like being in a fort. We felt very safe and there are a lot of really nice things in walking distance. A beautiful temple and park, a zoo, an art museum, and many other things. Walk anywhere in this area and it will be lovely.

Very clean and new. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was great! The station is right downstairs. Room is a little small, but designed well so luggage can be stored under the beds. The air is really dry but there are free humidifiers for rent. Bathrooms are clean with facial humidifier and hair straighteners/curlers.
Only issue we had was the hot water for the showers didn't work sometimes, especially when there were other people in the showers.

Cafetel was an amazing experience for me and my two roommates! We were exploring Kyoto for a trip and were hoping to find a cozy and affordable place, and Cafetel exceeded our expectations. The amenities are fantastic and the vibe is very cute/woman-friendly; they even have free humidifiers to use in addition to hairdryers/facial essentials/etc for you during your stay. Everything was well-kept and the staff was especially friendly. Our room was so cute and was just like a modern "glamping" experience where we stayed in a house-shaped room with a view of the Kyoto river. We loved it and I have already recommended it to several of my friends.
