The location was incredibly convenient—right in the heart of the scenic Gion district, which made for a peaceful and intimate Kyoto experience. It was the perfect base for exploring the nearby temples, historic streets, and local dining spots. The staff were warm, attentive, and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was beautifully designed, very comfortable, and felt genuinely welcoming after a day of sightseeing.

There honestly wasn’t anything I didn’t like—it was a great stay from start to finish.

Amazing hotel, huge spacious room which was perfect for us and our baby. So nice to have the tatami area for some floor time with our bub, and sit by the window in the sun watching the world go by. Amazing bathroom with beautiful bath. Blockout blinds. Clean. Well located. Lovely helpful staff. Comfortable bed. Couldn’t fault this hotel.

Laundry was a great but maybe a second dryer would be good as this was always in use!

Unbeatable location - walkable to key sights like Sannenzaka & Ninenzaka Streets, Kiyomizu-dera temple and also the more commercial areas of Kyoto. Super easy to take the bus from Kyoto Station to the hotel - it's less than a two minute walk from the bus top. Room was fantastic and super spacious - we felt like we had plenty of space for three adults. We appreciated the small touches like the amenity bar, complimentary coffee in the lobby and free laundry (only two machines, often in use but we were able to do laundry twice without an issue). Definitely recommend and will stay here again!

We loved the hotel location. Just steps outside you could reach several temples, shrines, and restaurants. Absolutely amazing! The room was great, comfortable beds, and the bathroom was out of this world with a great shower, sauna, and a Japanese style tub. The breakfast was great and worth it the extra charge.

Absolutly staning sray! So much comfort and take care at this place. It is located in a quet place, it is near from everything by walk. Before this hotel i stayed in Gojo Sequence and it was suxh a bad experience compared to this stay. The room in Gion Elite is modern wirh wood decor, have avtomatically black out system, in my room i had sauna and oxygen buthtab. All this made my stay aweaome and relaxing. I used balcony in the morning and evening time and ilt also make a nice feelings. Hotel have 24 hours tea, cofee, cookie on the fust floor for use for free. I am impressed with this stay. I was very lucky also to meet owner of the hotel with all the family - they had a rest at this period in Kioto. Very welcome family and you will feel same at hotel! Defently i would come back.

We enjoyed this hotel and would highly recommend. It is a new hotel, built to blend into the traditional architecture of Gion, and located in the heart of Gion. Modern and well-designed rooms. Extremely clean. Great shower and tub. Coffee maker in the lobby which made great espresso and other options. (Not like those K cup makers.) Staff was extremely helpful and worked with us to solve issues, not related to the hotel. Such as cancelling dinner reservations, etc. Beds were comfortable by Japanese standards. Easy walk to many sites and restaurants. Close to transportation links.

We were in Kyoto for the peak cherry blossom week. Prices were jacked up for that time, but we were aware and made the decision to stay at this location. Breakfast was good, but was exactly the same every day, so after 3 or 4 days, it would have been nice for some variation. Washers were available in the hotel for guests to use, but the wash/dry cycle was HOURS and so it was difficult to find a open time. There is no view from the windows/balcony, so no need to pay extra.

We were lucky enough to have the family suite with sauna and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable and we loved the complimentary drinks downstairs, which was much appreciated in the early September heat. The best thing was that it was located within minutes of a bus stop and walking distance to Gion, Sannenzaka and Ninezaka and were always able to find a place to eat nearby.

The property is super comfortable! Rooms are big with all the modern amenities . There’s a 24 hours coffee and matcha bar , free laundry . Location is on the other side of Higashiyama , a 10 minute walk to the posh streets of Ninenzaka which I very much enjoyed , especially at 7am when the tourists like me have not yet arrived . For my budget, it’s really good value , although if you can afford $400/night and up , you can stay closer to the classic Higashiyama . I would definitely come back

Some of the staff were curt and not that friendly . You can tell that they are not that welcoming for questions and just seem annoyed . But Ben and an I donation guy ( I forgot his name ) were top notch !

We really enjoyed staying at this property. The location was perfect, right near the bus line and within walking distance to key locations that we wanted to visit. It’s also located between a Lawsons and 7-11 stores and a Freshi grocery store. The room was state-of-the-art and had an easy to use clock device that you could control the lights at the push of a button. It was on a quiet street, and we slept great. We loved the patio too! The staff was also super helpful and kind. Great coffee machine in the lobby. Highly recommend!

Our only (small) complaint is that the room did not come with the washing machine and the one in the lobby took over six hours to do one load of wash. And our clothes came out super wrinkled and still damp.

Gion Elite Terrace exceeded my expectations. The location was extremely convenient in the heart of Gion on a quiet street away from the crowds, walking distance to restaurants and sights, and a 10-15 min walk to the Gion-Shijō Train Station. The hotel staff was welcoming, friendly, helpful, and able to speak English well. The lobby has a 24/7 expresso/coffee machine and a tea bar. All basic amenities were provided and the hotel has a laundry room with two washers and one dryer. The dryer is small and does take a long time (>2 hours) to properly dry clothing, however. The breakfast selection was small, but everything tasted delicious and fresh. The kitchen cooks fresh eggs for the guests. My room was clean, modern, and spacious. The bathroom was large and had a standalone bathtub and a shower. My room had a desk and a wet bar with a sink, hot water kettle, mini-fridge and Brita filter. There was a balcony with chairs that overlooked the historic streets and buildings. I had plenty of space to store my clothing and there was a large rack to hang my clothing. The bed was very comfortable and the room had blackout shades. I slept very well during my entire stay. In summary I had a fantastic stay at Gion Elite Terrace. When I return to Kyoto, I will be staying here again.
