The location was incredibly convenient—right in the heart of the scenic Gion district, which made for a peaceful and intimate Kyoto experience. It was the perfect base for exploring the nearby temples, historic streets, and local dining spots. The staff were warm, attentive, and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was beautifully designed, very comfortable, and felt genuinely welcoming after a day of sightseeing.

There honestly wasn’t anything I didn’t like—it was a great stay from start to finish.

Unbeatable location - walkable to key sights like Sannenzaka & Ninenzaka Streets, Kiyomizu-dera temple and also the more commercial areas of Kyoto. Super easy to take the bus from Kyoto Station to the hotel - it's less than a two minute walk from the bus top. Room was fantastic and super spacious - we felt like we had plenty of space for three adults. We appreciated the small touches like the amenity bar, complimentary coffee in the lobby and free laundry (only two machines, often in use but we were able to do laundry twice without an issue). Definitely recommend and will stay here again!

Absolutly staning sray! So much comfort and take care at this place. It is located in a quet place, it is near from everything by walk. Before this hotel i stayed in Gojo Sequence and it was suxh a bad experience compared to this stay. The room in Gion Elite is modern wirh wood decor, have avtomatically black out system, in my room i had sauna and oxygen buthtab. All this made my stay aweaome and relaxing. I used balcony in the morning and evening time and ilt also make a nice feelings. Hotel have 24 hours tea, cofee, cookie on the fust floor for use for free. I am impressed with this stay. I was very lucky also to meet owner of the hotel with all the family - they had a rest at this period in Kioto. Very welcome family and you will feel same at hotel! Defently i would come back.

We enjoyed this hotel and would highly recommend. It is a new hotel, built to blend into the traditional architecture of Gion, and located in the heart of Gion. Modern and well-designed rooms. Extremely clean. Great shower and tub. Coffee maker in the lobby which made great espresso and other options. (Not like those K cup makers.) Staff was extremely helpful and worked with us to solve issues, not related to the hotel. Such as cancelling dinner reservations, etc. Beds were comfortable by Japanese standards. Easy walk to many sites and restaurants. Close to transportation links.

We were in Kyoto for the peak cherry blossom week. Prices were jacked up for that time, but we were aware and made the decision to stay at this location. Breakfast was good, but was exactly the same every day, so after 3 or 4 days, it would have been nice for some variation. Washers were available in the hotel for guests to use, but the wash/dry cycle was HOURS and so it was difficult to find a open time. There is no view from the windows/balcony, so no need to pay extra.

We were lucky enough to have the family suite with sauna and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable and we loved the complimentary drinks downstairs, which was much appreciated in the early September heat. The best thing was that it was located within minutes of a bus stop and walking distance to Gion, Sannenzaka and Ninezaka and were always able to find a place to eat nearby.

The hotel blended traditional Japanese art and craftsmanship with modern style and convenience. While a bit difficult to find the first time, the location was otherwise remarkable, a reasonable walk or bus ride to a number of attractions, including Kiyomizu-dera, Kennin-ji, Kodai-ji, Yasaka Pagoda, and Minamiza Theatre. The bus stop is just a couple minutes' walk from the hotel lobby. The room was modern, comfortable, clean, and spacious. Built for tall people. The shower and bathtub were great, with a bubbling bath and view into the room. A tiny kitchenette was a surprise convenience. The room had both indoor and outdoor seating areas, making it a cozy retreat. The front desk staff were fluent in English and Chinese, and very helpful and friendly. Just behind the front desk is a free laundry room with two machines. The café had a limited yet interesting menu with delicious selections.

Despite the room being spacious, there was little room to store luggage.

Gion Elite Terrace exceeded my expectations. The location was extremely convenient in the heart of Gion on a quiet street away from the crowds, walking distance to restaurants and sights, and a 10-15 min walk to the Gion-Shijō Train Station. The hotel staff was welcoming, friendly, helpful, and able to speak English well. The lobby has a 24/7 expresso/coffee machine and a tea bar. All basic amenities were provided and the hotel has a laundry room with two washers and one dryer. The dryer is small and does take a long time (>2 hours) to properly dry clothing, however. The breakfast selection was small, but everything tasted delicious and fresh. The kitchen cooks fresh eggs for the guests. My room was clean, modern, and spacious. The bathroom was large and had a standalone bathtub and a shower. My room had a desk and a wet bar with a sink, hot water kettle, mini-fridge and Brita filter. There was a balcony with chairs that overlooked the historic streets and buildings. I had plenty of space to store my clothing and there was a large rack to hang my clothing. The bed was very comfortable and the room had blackout shades. I slept very well during my entire stay. In summary I had a fantastic stay at Gion Elite Terrace. When I return to Kyoto, I will be staying here again.

We were so happy we stayed here! The location is close to main attractions, shops and restaurants. Walking distance to bus and train station. Having free drinks in the lobby and laundry facilities is a bonus. Rooms are the largest we have stayed in Japan for families. Hotel staff are very helpful and kind.

The free laundry on-site was SO HELPFUL. We needed to do a couple of loads. The hotel helped us with organizing the delivery of our bags to our next destination. They upgraded our room for free due to an issue with our previous room.

There is nothing I didn't like. The hotel was great!

The bed - most comfortable ever, also for my husband (and he would usually prefer a firmer madress than me. The bathroom, including the spacious bathtub. The dimmer switches everywhere to allow you to have a relaxing ambience, even in the bathroom, and the blackout curtains to help deal with jetlag. The fact that everything was simple but very high quality. We have stayed in both 'fancier' hotels and in places with more stars, but this was so comfortable and hospitable - simple, quality comfort. The staff, excellent English and helpful with everything, including securing us s table at a specific Michelin restaurant we hoped to visit.
