Hotel Kanra Kyoto exceeded every expectation - from its beautifully designed interiors and serene atmosphere, to the attention to detail in every corner. My room was spacious, elegant, and offered a perfect blend of traditional Japanese design with modern comfort. Beyond the room, the on-site Wagu restaurant was also really good - beautifully presented dishes and refined flavors. I also enjoyed drinks several times in the shared lounge area, which was both stylish and relaxing. The spa was another highlight, offering a serene space to unwind after long days exploring Kyoto. The service was outstanding. Every staff member I interacted with was warm, professional and went out of their way to assist. I felt genuinely welcomed and well cared for throughout my stay. This is more than just a hotel - it’s an experience. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kyoto looking for comfort, aesthetics, and authentic hospitality.

Wonderful hotel, right next to a very important temple and sanctuary (we could see the temple from our room). - Room: very spacious, yet the overall arrangement of the furniture was not very "ergonomic" as I actually broke my toe hitting a chair that was positioned very close to a step at the end of the bed. - Bathroom: beautiful and spacious. the traditional wooden bathtub and the shower were amazing. - Location: quite central, close to the train station.

Perhaps I'd recommend reconsidering the disposition of the furniture to allow a safer movement around the room.

We booked a suite in the main building, and it was amazing. It was so spacious and very relaxing. We could see out into the city from the common area, which was very nice. And our bathroom- let's just say, I want a replica in my house. The facilities were clean, and all of the staff were extremely nice. I needed to dry clean something, and the concierge helped me. I got my clothes back on the same day. It was a little walk into the main areas of Kyoto, but you could easily take the metro to be closer or walk 15-20 minutes. It was very easy to get to the train station from this hotel.

We had a nice stay at Kanra Kyoto. Good location at a walking distance from the station and lots of restaurants nearby We had a room in the front building which was very nice but pretty small if you consider to add an extra bed. We asked to remove the extra bed and shared the 2 futon beds with our son since with a third bed and a couple of luggages the space to move around the room would have been bit tight. That said, the room was cosy, the bathroom had a huge shower, we liked the style of the hotel and we found all we needed. We added on site breakfast and I have to say it was very good with a lot of variety . The staff was friendly and they helped us to book restaurants in the evenings and a taxi for the day we left.

Only a couple of things I would improve : I am sorry to say that the pillows were smelly so I would suggest to change and clean not only the upper cover but the whole pillow I personally consider the price for breakfast bit too expensive ( about 25 euros )

The room was beautiful and very spacious. We stayed in the Annex building in the twin room with Tatami area. This was by far the largest room we stayed in on our month long trip and the prettiest. The entrance had a sliding wooden screen and really nice lamp. This gave a nice pause and sound buffer to the actual entrance and felt very Japanese. The bathroom was amazing. It had a beautiful rock garden, large shower and wooden bathtub. It was a really big bathroom. Big but nowhere to put toiletries, except on the counter. We were a family of 3. They provided an extra bed/futon that slept our son. Although there was plenty of room for all of us in the beds. There was a small closet with a safe in it. (It would be great if there were some drawers to store clothing). Location was really close to the metro with one stop to the kyoto station. in the evening there was happy hour with wine, sake and small bites. The hotel also offered a couple free classes: we did the origami making class with Toshi. He was great and made the class fun and interesting. The staff helped out a lot with reservations to restaurants and suggestions for our large group of 7. Kyoto is busy so highly recommend reso's.

As mentioned we were on the 5th floor and our room (505) was near the elevator and employee services. At times we would open and walk out our door to see laundry, vacuums, carts and the facilities for cleaning.

Thoughtful and serene design of my room, pleasing natural materials, well placed lighting (including the sculpture like bedside tables), the rectangular hiba wood tub, and a window that I could keep open. Even the hotel information loose leaf was well worth reading and well designed. Lobby amenities, including the gracious, seated check-in service, and the comfort of the lobby beverage bar. Top floor restaurant, with service, atmosphere and food, all excellent.

Fairly minor quibbles, but why no shelves for clothes in the room? Since there is a little sink in the toilet area, why no soap there? Why the slippery, loose carpet under the seating area of the lobby? Why no entry into the cafe when we arrived?

The room was absolutely stunning and larger than most apartments. Very high quality toiletries and skincare, and beautiful hinoki bath. Breakfast was excellent with so many options. Hotel was conveniently located next to Kyoto station and walkable to Gion and restaurants.

Excellent staff service - so welcoming and helpful! We really appreciated all the staff - from the front desk, the cleaning crew, the breakfast and lounge staff. Great room and amenities. Bikes available to use, spa, laundry and luggage service.

Not as close to the attractions though close to Kyoto station. Wish there was a gym to complement the spa.

We love everything about it ! We were welcomed with a relaxing scent and serenity at the entrance. The staff were good with their communication and provided us with prompt assistance. We had a single room with a wooden bathtub along with a scenic view of the town. The bed was so comfortable and you get to soak yourself in the wooden bathtub that is sourced locally in Japan along with their facial amenities ( chef kiss) ! From the Hotel to the nearby gojo station takes only a 5 mins !! It ll take 20 sec if you sprint >v<! We had a fantastic experience and will come back again !

Good location. It’s actually next to a UNESCO temple. Pretty peaceful area. Accessible area through stations. Check in was swiftly quick. Hostess and host was accommodative as well. They arranged request relatively quick.

There is some wear and tear around. The room they I stayed was pretty old. Could see cracks and some damages. Room layout wasn’t the most comfortable. Maybe others will be better.
