The property at the MITSUI alone was stunning. The architecture was beautiful and the gardens were perfectly kept. We received tea and hand towels upon arrival, daily gifts were delivered to our room (face mask, chocolates, and lip balm), and we even got to see its cherry blossom tree in full bloom during our stay. The public onsen was also the perfect space for a quiet day or night at the hotel. It’s the bottom floor so you feel like you are transported to another location. We left feeling rejuvenated from the long days of exploring and the loudness of other cities we visited.

Breakfast felt chaotic on some days. The earlier we went, the better. After 9am, it was always busy and it felt like the staff was overwhelmed and flustered. We understood since it was cherry blossom season but it was noticeable.

The hotel was AMAZING, the location, the rooms, the cleanliness, the people, the small city everything. A big thank you to everyone at the hotel. Kyoto is such a beautiful and very special place. We had an amazing time at the best country we have visited so far. The culture of Japanese people along with the delicious food is what we will have in our heart and memories forever!

If you want a comfortable luxury stay then this is the best hotel in Kyoto. Spacious rooms, great hospitality, amazing bathroom & beautiful interior. The staff were very helpful & made it easy getting taxis & arranging & calling kimono rental shops. But best of all was the spa & the private onset. As a man with tattoos I was paranoid but it was amazing I got to use the facilities & the private onset was like something out of a manga. Worth every penny

Top class hotel with very welcome green oasis. Next to temple. Excellent and abundant staff. Amazing spa. Decent gym. Also great to have an Italian restaurant … for a change.

Frankly only it’s room rate. 2x the Dusit Thani where we stayed a few nights prior.

Hotel facilities were amazing with a beautiful garden in the middle. The room itself (Deluxe Suite) was also perfect. The interior decor created a very relaxing ambience. Everything they provided in the room was also top notch. Location is very convenient with all attractions easily accessible by taxi or metro. Kyoto is not big so it is easy to get around. Service was also perfect.

Only minor room for improvement was the small selection of food for breakfast. There’s enough variety for a 2-3 day stay but beyond that some may find the selection repetitive.

Stunning interior design and facilities including a beautiful onsen. Rooms are impeccably designed, along with the lobby and restaurant areas.

Service at the breakfast is slow and unless you opt for the Japanese breakfast (which was delicious) the Continental and American breakfasts are a let down with soggy croissants, stale bread and still frozen fruit. Not the level of breakfast you’d expect from such a hotel.

The hotel is beautiful. The decor in the rooms, the lobby, the restaurant and the spa were stunning. The staff helped us out with dinner reservations, taxis, etc. The restaurant / bar staff was also very kind. There are two restaurants in the hotel. We dined at both and they were very good (TOKI has a Michelin star so it is quite a budget).

We stayed for a total of four nights with two bedrooms. Our children stayed in a garden view bedroom, but in reality it was overlooking the rooftop of the hotel lobby / restaurant wing. That was a bit disappointing. We stayed in a Nijo room, overlooking the castle. It’s actually on a pretty busy street and the view isn’t that spectacular. we were on the second floor. Ask to be in the fourth (the top floor) if you can. Also, breakfast isn’t served before seven (including room service), so if you have to leave earlier for a flight, don’t count in it at the hotel.

the structure is wonderful; fits perfectly into the context of Kyoto. The Hotel has a wonderful garden. the rooms are quite large and equipped with every comfort. I was amazed by the care towards the customer: every evening there was a gift for me in the room; from cocoa butter to moisturizing mask. The same care was given to my baby; that every evening he found a thought in the room just for him. The restaurant is also family friendly and this is very nice.

the only flaw of the structure is that it is not possible to have room-dining throughout the night. Last order is at 21:30.
