This is such a special place to stay, the room was so spacious and the hotel interior is beautifully designed. It was like a calm oasis. Breakfast in the room each morning was perfect.

It would be nice to sit on the balcony if there were more chairs :)

Good location - although getting around in Kyoto require taxis. We loved the tranquil streets of this city, so this hotel has a unique feel to it. Amazing atmosphere to the entry and lobby of this hotel. Although its not really a hotel, more of a very narrow apartment block renovated to feel like you are almost in a dark forest.... Excellent breakfast - but be aware this wil not cater to western tastes. Then again you are not in this hotel to experience anything western.

The entry and lobby area's are much to cold - this can be probably be adjusted by a/c settings. We visited in summer, so a/c did not need be that cold. We prefer a door between sleep and bath spaces. We longed for a proper Nespresso coffee in the morning - but then again - this is Kyoto

One of the most stylish, unique hotels we've ever stayed in. The rooms (we had the black room) are stunning - ultra modern whilst still very comfortable. Love the bathroom, especially the slate bath. Breakfast in the room was a real treat, with a different menu each morning. The staff were wonderful - very friendly and helpful. We also really enjoyed the bar on the second floor - equally as well designed as the rest of the hotel and the bartender was lovely to deal with. The location is also excellent - walking distance to plenty of Kyoto's attractions, with a subway station nearby for longer trips. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel room features modern design with minimalist decor and was very spacious. Each morning, a different kind of breakfast was delivered to our room at our chosen time, beautifully arranged like a piece of art. The staff were welcoming, offering excellent local dining recommendations and even making reservations on our behalf. Notably, all staff were elegantly dressed in clothing designed by the renowned Miyake Issey.

It was pretty central, but in the heat we still used Ubers/taxis to go into the main part. Bed was comfortable, shower was good, staff friendly if a bit shy, great breakfast IF you like a Japanese breakfast. Very clean, great air conditioning. Very modern.

No blackout on windows, no door into bathroom area, breakfast was not continental enough for us (but great if you like Japanese breakfast), perhaps you could choose when you checked in? Breakfast also served in room as no dining room.

Breakfast was delivered to and served in the room by the Hotel Staff daily as the Hotel did not have a restaurant. The breakfast options were Western or Japanese style Breakfasts. Both are good. The room was spacious, especially the shower and bath tub. The room was quiet as there is no TV set in the room. The Green Tea provided in the room was excellent. Lots of wardrobe space also. Nicely designed and decorated boutique hotel. Lots of restaurants and ramen shops in the vicinity. You can ask for a choice of firmer pillows.

Location was a tad far from a convenient subway station but not overly far. The frosted main window can make the room feel a bit too claustrophobic and isolated.

Interior design - it was unique. I’ve stayed at art hotels over the years and Mogana was different (‘good’ different ) - style, theme, colour scheme used. The team was very helpful. They accommodated my dietary restrictions. I enjoyed our room with the balcony. Rich in natural daylight. The bed was very very comfortable. Very clean and tidy. Bang&Olufsen speaker was a great touch of detail. I didn’t mind the 15-20min walk to the main touristy area. I will stay here again!

I originally booked a room that I didn’t realise had no windows nor it was communicated on the room details - I felt so claustrophobic when I got in the room. We had to change/upgrade. The team was supportive and moved / upgraded us to another room.

This hotel was sleek and classy. The design was minimalistic and the room was modern and comfortable. The shower was exceptionally good and the bath was excellent. Overall the room was superb. The staff are professional and friendly and they were lovely enough to give us a small bottle of champagne to celebrate my husband's birthday. Breakfast is exceptional, and beautifully served in your room at the time you allocate. There were juices and water in the fridge provided (free) and tea for you to use. We really enjoyed the hotel and loved the modern functions.

Location was a bit out. This was our 3rd stay in Kyoto and we found this location further out than previous ones, which involved more walking.

Breakfast was great with the exception of the coffee, which was weak. Loved the sleek design. Really enjoyed our bartender, though the grape flavored cocktail special was sickly sweet. Wet room was very well designed with excellent showerhead. And speaking of heavy showers, we really appreciated the sturdy loaner umbrellas. The sound system in the room was great and simple to pair with our phones. Loved that bonsai display in the room.

It was strange that in a hotel of this price/quality we were not offered any tips on what to enjoy in the surrounding neighborhood, restaurant recommendations, etc. And when we asked at the front desk, they didn't have suggestions for us. We're very resourceful, so no problem for us, but its always fun to get inside tips from a well-informed staff. There was no desk that was suitable to do a little work on my laptop. We rarely watch TV in hotels, but given that we had one full day of torrential rain, it would have been nice, and not unexpected in such a space-age, high-design room.

Nice drinks in the fridge. -Bathroom is amazing, bathtub is huge, allowing excellent baths after long days of walk - breakfast was diverse and tasty - employees were perfect, very helpful and efficient - I really liked the design of the hotel and the bar - excellent location

Important : the rooms really need blackout / occultant curtains. There was only a thin yellow curtain letting in 70% of the light from outside, difficult for people used to sleep in the dark. Unfortunately I did not have very good nights of sleep despite the high bedding quality because of this Also: there should be a way to keep the balcony door open without holding it , to aerate the room Apart from these 2 comments everything was really perfect
