We cannot thank the staff at MIMARU Kyoto Central enough for making our short stay in Kyoto so wonderful. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, all of the staff were welcoming and answered all of our queries, no matter how big or small. The two-bedroom apartment was super spacious and clean, with great amenities and we would highly recommend. The bedrooms were a great size, especially the master bedroom which had an ensuite and walk in robe, which were great additions The apartment also had a washer and dryer which was super convenient for our group as we were able to launder our clothes without the stress of finding a laundromat. The apartments are super close to the Karasuma Oike subway stop (3-minute walk) which is three stops from Kyoto Station and a 20 minute bus trip to Yasaka Shrine. MIMARU Kyoto Central also had a drinks station in the lobby which was a lovely touch. The staff were also kind enough to organise for our bags to be transported to our next hotel in Tokyo to save us the hassle of moving our luggage with us of the Shinkansen and through the subway stations. Finding out if restaurants were open and available was also not a problem for the staff, who kindly rang around for us to ensure we could enjoy some local cuisine. A big thanks to all staff (including Seth, Chiara, Roy, Jungmin, George and Shiei) for making our stay so comfortable and enjoyable!

Everything was wonderful

The apartment hotel was exceptionally clean. We felt at home the moment we arrived. The room was well thought out and fully equipped. And the cherry on top of the cake was the warm and wonderful staff. Each one of them communicated proficiently in English, were very helpful and a special shout out to Cici, who went above and beyond to clarify our doubts about parking. She also did her very best to help when our child suffered a deep cut and required medical attention at a clinic. This is our first stay at a Mimaru hotel, and we will definitely choose Mimaru again when we visit Japan in the future!,

Nothing

We wanted a 2 bedroom for our family of 4, in case jet lag affected our kids. They like to wake everyone up in the room if they are awake, so this worked perfectly. It is spacious and the washer/dryer machine in our room came in handy. Please note that it is a combo machine, and despite running the dryer for 2 hours, the clothes were not dry. We hung the wet clothes and they dried easily within a day. Complimentary coffee/tea machine, beer, sake, and body products were downstairs. It was expensive but worth the stay for lots of room. You must visit Flip Up Bakery down the street! It's delicious!

Staff could have been a bit friendlier. They were respectful and nice, but lacked the great Japanese service that we experienced elsewhere.

It was a perfect hotel for us as a family of four. Our apartment had two comfortable rooms, a large living room area, and two bathrooms. It was not only spacious but also tastefully designed. There was a good kitchen and washing appliances in the room, which helped us prepare our food and do our own laundry without a hassle. The location was great (only 5 minutes' walking distance from the subway but still quiet), and so was the staff. There were complimentary drinks (including very tasty beers) for customers all day just across the reception. We loved it.

We loved this hotel! It's in a great location with lots of local restaurants and a choice of small supermarkets nearby and just a few minutes' walk to the subway. The Nakagyo area is really attractive and a quiet and peaceful place to stay. Our apartment was very spacious, well-laid out, comfortable, well-equipped, stylish and quiet. It felt like a home from home and we were really sad to leave. We would have liked to have stayed much longer, both to enjoy our apartment and to explore more of Kyoto - an amazing city! A big thank you to the staff who were all very friendly and helpful. We will definitely choose the Mimaru Suites for our next visit.

There was nothing we didn't like.

The staff had so many resources and knowledge available for overwhelmed travellers - restaurant lists and day itinerary ideas. Staff were interactive and helpful. The rooms were massive! A chance to spread out a little after other Japanese accommodation that’s traditionally much smaller. Having a washer/dryer was handy, and there were plenty of kitchen accessories available if you want to cook in rather than go out. Very close to a subway station too, and walking distance to key sites like the castle, imperial palace, and Nishiki markets (if you’re a walker). When looking for a supermarket bigger than a Fresco or Family Mart, there is an underground grocery store we stumbled across - look for “Zest”.

We stayed 8 nights and appreciated the space available in the apartment - 2 bedrooms, plus living space and tatami room made our stay as a family of 4 with teen children very comfortable. The kitchen facilities was also helpful and it felt like a bonus to get free beer, sake and other drinks in the lobby area. The staff are very friendly and helpful- one even ran a couple of blocks to bring mittens my daughter had left in the lobby when waiting to checkout.

There was no view to the outside world from the apartment windows- they are frosted glass.

The location was perfect! We were in town for the Gion festival. We could walk out the front door of the hotel and see the parade route. It was very hot on parade day, so it was very easy to pop back into the hotel and take breaks from the parade. In addition, it was a very short walk to public transportation. And we were able to walk to the castle, Nishiki market, etc. The service at the hotel was amazing. They helped us with reservations for dinner as well as an oversize taxi cab (family of five). The room was perfect. Our family of five had room to spread out in 3 separate bedrooms and have 2 showers and bathrooms.

Nothing! It was perfect!

apartment located on the 3rd floor was 85 sqm in size; 2 separate bathrooms and toilet and 2 TV's; washing machine inside the unit with laundry detergent provided; layout and space was well laid out and comfortable; free flow of beer and sake up to 9 pm whilst hot drinks are available around the clock. charming walk around the neighbourhood with enjoyable views all the way to Sanjo and Gion area.

pricing is equivalent to 3 to 4 hotel rooms without the daily cleaning service done and front desk closes at 10 pm. towels are changed on a daily basis though

Perfect space for our family of 4, 2 teenage kids included. We loved the friendly staff, the free drinks and the spacious suite. Nice mix of modern amenities with a traditional tatami room that makes this place special.

Honestly, I wouldn’t change anything about our stay! As a family this was a perfect affordable option. The only thing I might change is to include bedside tables in the rooms, but there probably is a reason they are not there for the traditional aspect of the design? Maybe also include body lotion in the bathrooms, though this can be picked up in the lobby. Other than that this place is close to perfect:)
