We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Kyoto. The location is excellent, just a 10-minute walk from Nijō Castle and very close to Nijō Station, providing easy access to Kyoto’s main tourist attractions. Naganoya was one of the most spacious accommodations we’ve had during our two-month trip in Japan. The house was well-equipped with all the essentials: kitchen utensils, comfortable king beds, a dining table, refrigerator, freezer, sofa/bed, stove, and washing machine and all super clean. At the entrance, there’s also a vending machine, and luggage can be securely stored with a lock. Check-in is self-service using a code to retrieve the keys, but if you have any issues or questions, the owner is very friendly and responds promptly.

The only drawback was the lack of space to hang clothes, making it difficult for them to dry. It’s worth noting that we stayed during early spring on the ground floor, where humidity was higher.

The location is ideal—situated in a tranquil neighbourhood yet perfectly placed for exploring Kyoto’s main attractions. A highlight was the fantastic wall filled with hand-picked tips for local restaurants, bars, shops, and services—it genuinely enriched our experience of the area. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Highly recommended when visiting Kyoto!

that the light in the hall of the room stays always on, thye could put bliners in the window above the washing machine, that also was quite bodeting in the moring, as we are used to sleep in pitch black

Location was close to a walking street with grocery store and restaurants and close to different train stations. If you want to be right in the middle of the action you have to walk or take the train. Size was good, kitchen and washing machine was nice. Awkward that the toilet was off of the kitchen while the shower and sink were off of the bedroom but it was ok.

The beds were ok comfy but would have preferred one big bed and that the beds weren't so close to the floor. My fault if I missed that in the listing.

Conveniently located in a quiet street close to Nijo castle and well connected to the rest of Kyoto via public transport. Spacious for local standards and well fitted. Check in and check out instructions very detailed and easy to follow. Spotless clean too. Good water pressure and plenty of hot water.

I felt the room was not well insulated from the outside weather and being the mid of winter that was uncomfortable. The inverter in the room was insufficient to offset that inconvenience. The communication with the hosting company was easy but very distant, despite being there a week we might have seen a human twice all in all. This felt quite impersonal.

Perfect location if you're okay with a 15 minute walk each morning to get to where you want to go. Whether its the train station, Nijo castle or some local shops, its all fairly close. The room was clean, as a group of three we had two people on beds and one on the sofa bed. If you're okay with a fairly solid surface to sleep, the sofa bed isn't too bad for your third person. It was a little cramped with three people and all our suitcases. But if you're travelling light, it's a perfect place which you should have little issue with.

The appartement is located in a more quiet neighbourhood of Kyoto. We rented bikes, wich is a very convenient way to travel in Kyoto because public transport is less developed here than in Tokyo. If you do want to use public transport, the appartment is in between two important train-lines wich are both really close by. Also loved the traditional Japanese bathroom were you can sit and rinse with a bucket. There was a washingmachine with drying rack, but you can also hang your washed clothes on the balcony. Beds were really comfortable! Although it’s a self check-in place with no front desk, there was a guy who dropped by almost every day who was very helpful and kind.

Room is clean and they have all the supplies and even extras at the lobby. Location is nice and quiet. We were on the 2nd floor so it was also bright. Also has a map for local recommendations as well. Feels just like home!

You cannot fully unplug the bathtub to drain water otherwise it will back float. Have to drain slowly.

We really enjoyed our stay as it was spacious (considering it was Japan) and affordable. The streets could get a bit quiet and dark at night but we still felt safe walking around. The family mart, supermarket and drugstore were conveniently located at Sanjo Shopping Street too. The train stations are within 10 minutes walk which is pretty close for us. JR Nijo Station also had only one exit so the elevator was located right at the exit which is a plus in Japan! The host was responsive too. Overall, we would most definitely consider staying here again if we come back to Kyoto.

The hairdryer has visible dust bunnies but there are available hairdryers downstairs for you to exchange it so it was not an issue. The showering area and toilet were separated which is not an issue for us but may be for others especially those with children.

Love the convenience airbnb yet peaceful neighbourhood, it was close to Kyoto Sanjo shopping street. A local area with small coffee shops, fruits stalls and playground.

I think we underated our google map distance when we first arrived Japan, it was inappropriate to use bus or train with big luggage and drag the luggage along the peaceful neighbourhood heading the property. We learn our lesson, took taxi and luggage delivery after that

Very complete little apartment, had all the things we needed for nearly a week stay

Little far from Kawaramachi but we enjoyed the long walk. Well connected by bus if you don’t want to wall. Close to Nijo Castle.
