Kyoyado Usagi is by far the best place I’ve stayed in Japan, and is up there in my top 3 hotel / vacation rental experiences. The attention to detail is incredible, starting with the staff, who are extremely attentive and responsive to guests. I reached out for help making a reservation that could only be done over the phone in Japanese, and within a day they had confirmed the reservation for me, plus secured me an amazing table. They even printed out directions to the restaurant and followed up to ask me how it was afterwards. The staff greets you at check-in, walks you through the accommodation and answers any and all questions that you have. The accommodation itself (we stayed in the Oike “room”) was absolutely incredible, and amazing value for the price. The craftsmanship, interiors, and fixtures of the place were outstanding, with great modern technology like in-floor heating, automatic lights, and an automatic filling jacuzzi tub making it impossible to beat. The Sakura tree in our private courtyard at the Oike room was still in bloom during our stay, which added to the magic of the place. I really can’t recommend this property enough if you’re in Kyoto, I know I’ll definitely be back.

Everything, very aesthetic. A lot of space, heated floors, a huge bathtub and shower room that worked great for 2. Very friendly staff and helpful, very easy entry and exit of the property. Right next to the station, restaurants, cafes. Comfy beds, toilets, living space like couches. Even gave us refills of water and other accommodations including cleaning every other day with fresh everything, towels, sheets, etc. It’s also a quiet area, we did not hear any car traffic or foot traffic. They also have umbrellas for you to use on rainy days. Smart TV. Everything was very clean. Overall a 10/10.

We booked the Oike accommodation and were warmly welcomed by the host. We were even allowed to check in early and were immediately impressed by the accommodation. It was incredibly spacious and beautifully furnished. The beds were very comfortable, as if you were sleeping on clouds. The bathroom was a private onsen and felt very good after long days of exploring and walking. It is one of the best accommodations I've ever stayed in. Everything was perfect, and the friendly and welcoming host, in particular, made the stay so special. Thank you so much again.

Partway through our tour of Japan for our honeymoon we decided to stay in a house rather than another hotel, and we are so glad we did. The house was very clean, spacious, modern and comfortable, everything was high quality - the jacuzzi bath was a welcome luxury. Handy to have a washer/dryer for clothes partway through our trip. The excellent staff were available to welcome, check out and via text for anything during the stay. Only five minutes walk from a main station and close to the castle, yet we felt we were staying in a nice neighbourhood- not touristy. The house we chose from their several available was tucked away from the main road and was quiet and safe. Considering we had a whole house rather than just a hotel room it felt good value for money. Probably more than we would normally pay but it was great to use as a base in Kyoto for our five nights (we did a day trip to Nara, but there was so much to see in Kyoto we didn’t end up doing a trip to Osaka). The hosts booked us an amazing sushi making lesson with Sushi Shin at the museum which was a highlight of the holiday - highly recommended. There were a couple of big supermarkets right by the station so easy to pick up supplies. For a break from local cuisine I would also recommend Uruu restaurant about 15 minutes walk away for excellent Italian food. I loved the couple of little rabbit decorations in the house. If I had to be really picky, it would have been nice to have a couple of pictures or decorations in the lounge/dining area to make it feel a little more homely. We found the handwash in the bathrooms left our skin a bit dry and sensitive so maybe change to a softer variety.

If I could give this property 100 out of 10, I would. First; the property: It is spacious, very well appointed and beautiful. You do not need anything, from good stemware to bathrobes to cleaning every other day. Then; the people. Nothing is too much trouble for them, super friendly and you genuinely feel as if you made friends. Oh! And location: A quiet neighborhood yet loads of restaurants, coffee shops and convenience stores close by. A main train station is 200m from the front door. I fell in love with Kyoto!

The property was very secure, private, clean, and well presented. The staff were friendly and very helpful with any questions or advice we needed but were discreet and unobtrusive. The property is very close to kyoto Castle as well as various public transport options from the nearby transport hub, and taxis frequently pass the property, so it is easy to hail one if you are in a rush. The onsen is very modern, with the ability to start the tub filling from the upstairs lounge while you relax before being able to head down to enjoy the private garden view from the tub. There is a very large traditional japanese tatame room with a large table on the ground floor to host guests for dinner or games, which we took advantage of on our first night. Finally, the kitchen is well outfitted with everything you could want to host 6 or more people with ease and does have a European style dining table for those unnacustomed to the traditional Japanese style seating. We will recommend this property to any friends who travel to kyoto and will look to book it again should we return.

The air-conditioning controls were only in Japanese however google translate helped us and it was not a problem.

Very good location, great amenities. It’s clean and very private.

The front desk closes at 9:30pm and we requested late check-in as our flight arrival time was at night. Unfortunately the flight was delayed and we happened to arrive a lot later than our requested check in time and the manager asked us to cancel the first night and get another hotel. The manager ended up waiting for us until the midnight. So it worked out well bur also not sure we we felt welcoming at the check-in.

We had two lovely welcoming hosts meet us at the property. It was a fun and welcoming meet up! We loved going to the Life super market down the street, picking up delicious food and cooking in this beautiful place. Sometimes at the end of the day when traveling it is just better to come back to a comfortable place, experiment with local food and relax. We loved the immediate and friendly response from our hosts.

Very minor…The washer/dryer seemed challenging to operate and get clothes properly dry. Hosts are looking into it.

I was really looking forward to staying at this house based on the pictures online and it was what I expected it to be plus more! I absolutely would recommend this beautiful house 110% to other guests, friends, and family. It is a great mix between traditional and modern if that is what you are looking for. The house is very clean. The staff is friendly, personable, and have great communication. They are very helpful and attended if you have issues with the settings of the house. They do a tour of the house when you check in so you know how to use all modern appliances, including stove top, grill, microwave, oven, coffee machine, AC, floor heating, hot tub, and laundry. The beds were very comfortable. It has a full kitchen with a modern dining option or tatami room with a beautiful stone garden view. Security was great, I felt very safe although in a safe area. Train station walkable along with local grocery store.

The receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful. Forgot to ask her name but thanks to her for recommending places to eat, and where to get medicine and getting us a cab. For winter the house has excellent warming. At no point i was freezing at all.

The room has a lot of natural light, for someone very sensitive to light i got naturally woken up very easily.
