The hotel's location is unbeatable. We were able to go to Nishiki Market every day and Daimaru. That said, it is close to the subway and bus stops. Daily continental breakfast will be provided every morning in your room. This even beats a 5 stay hotel. The spread is quite wide with a cup of orange juice, 3 types of breads, some eggs, sausage, yogurt or cereal, fruits with a pot of coffee or tea! That's quite a breakfast to start the day. The hotel also provides PJs which became handy as I sent my PJs in advance to another hotel. It was a life saver. The hotel has also services to send luggage to you next destination with a fee. I give it a 7 star out of 5 stars.

We stayed at this hotel for the second time, choosing it again due to its excellent location and very good conditions. The rooms are quite small, but they are excellently organized, so this is not disturbing at all. Cleanliness is exemplary and is maintained on a daily basis. The bathroom is modern and quite spacious, and the beds are very comfortable; the bed linen and towels are of good quality. A bonus is the spacious terrace featuring comfortable sofas, where smoking is permitted (a real luxury in Japan). Additionally, the hotel is located just a few minutes' walk from a subway/train station, making travel to neighboring cities very convenient.

I can't think of anything unpleasant.

A classic boutique hotel - Not a lot of people (which is positive in my view) - The bed is SUPER comfortable. - The hotel is quiet and very close to one of the main streets, which is great. - Staff is very friendly. - Room is spacious and comfortable

(These are nitpicks). - There was construction in the next building (quiet but still a bit bothering) - The breakfast in bed is good - but I would like to have better options (or even a buffet). - Presence light in room does not go off - Room gets a bit humid. - Perhaps get rid of the wires below the TV? I told you these were nitpicks!

Myself and my son had a fantastic 2 night stay in this hotel as part of a 8 night trip to Japan. The staff were very helpful, the room was spacious, clean and well designed. The room was quiet and we had 2 great nights sleep as the beds were super comfy. The hotel is located on a lovely street with restaurants, shops and an underground station in easy reach. I would recommend this hotel to travellers looking for a more boutique hotel and personal experience.

This was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. The staff was the most helpful we have ever experienced. My daughter forgot her phone on the Shinkansen train, and the staff managed to contact the train lost and found, and provided all the details for us to recover it. The same staff provided itineraries to get to booked activities that were out of town, and made phone calls for us to make sure everything was in order. Breakfast was excellent. The room had a bathroom, shower and bath that was huge. The water pressure was unusually exceptional. The beds were comfortable, and extra beds were provided for the kids (without us even having to ask). I would recommend a stay at this hotel without reservation if staying in kyoto (or placing day trips into Osaka)

There was nothing we would like changed. Our only regret was not staying in this hotel longer, and traveling back and forth to Oaaka while visiting there

This hotel was our favorite out of the three we stayed in during our trip to Japan. Extremely well located with the subway just steps away, several restaurants nearby, close proximity to Nishiki market and shopping areas. We stayed in a family suite and loved it. It had two levels - top level was the entry, closet area with small refrigerator stocked with bottled water, bathroom (sink, vanity, toilet), beds and living area with kettle and some drinkware. Spiral staircase to the lower level was the HUGE bathroom with another toilet, large vanity area, giant soaking tub with a TV, rain shower, and zen garden. It had bathrobes, a scale and all the amenities you could ever need (e.g. dental kit, razors, hairbrushes, bath products, etc.). Each level had its own heating/AC unit. They also gave my 7-yr old a special welcome kit with kids slippers, a fun bath sponge, and kids toothbrush. Oh and the welcome cookies in the room were delicious! The customer service is top notch - everyone we encountered was so nice, very respectful, and always helpful. They have traditional keys instead of key cards, so you turn in your key prior to departing the hotel and pick it back up upon return. Guessing the cost to rekey the locks when a key is lost is pretty high.

This is probably hard for them to control due to humidity and I didn't immediately notice it, but the bathroom had some mold in the corners of the walls of the downstairs toilet area and on the ceiling of the shower area.

Small intimate hotel, brand new, excellent location at small quiet street just one minute from the centre., A lot of restaurants around, laundry across the street. ohBig nicely designed room, very comfortable, Good sleep quality. The hotel personnel recommended to us a nice restaurant for traditional Japanese dinner and helped to order the table. Very good shower with excellent water pressure. The hotel stuff provides the persnal attention.

Only 2 very similar options for the breakfast and you need to choose the exact breakfast time, when the optional timeslots are limited.

Staff was very nice and helped us to upgrade the room. The room is huge with a sofa and a big bathtub. Beds are Simmons branded and very comfortable. It helped me to get a very good sleep (as good as I had in Marriott Shirahama). They offered welcome drink and snack when we arrived. Room was very clean. The hotel is literally next to the station and bus stop, which made it easier to travel to attractions and shopping. The food places around the hotel opens till late night, so you can get supper for sure. Everything was so perfect, and we rated it as one of the best hotels during our 2 weeks stay in Japan.

The welcome cookie tasted great. It would be better if we can get it in Day 2 as well. The map provided by front desk can be updated as some shops were closed permanently.

The hotel was REALLY beautiful & the location was excellent - right in the heart of Kyoto. But the hotel's greatest treasure are their staff who are kind, friendly, professional & amazingly helpful - nothing was too much trouble for them! Hiroki-san & Mone-san, in particular, helped me a lot & were a joy to interact with, especially when I needed specific sightseeing directions; when, on another occasion, I needed to visit a hospital, & when I also needed some stiff card cut to size to protect prints that I had bought: thank you :)

This exceptional hotel is worth a visit if you plan to travel to Kyoto. Our family rented a Deluxe Twin Room and a Superior Twin Room (located on the same floor). The service was professional and friendly. The staff goes out of their way to help when they can (they helped book a last-minute dinner reservation at a nearby yakiniku restaurant and coordinated baggage delivery to our next hotel), and the rooms were comfortable, spacious, and well appointed. The bathroom shower/tub area was huge! I highly recommend the Kyoto Shijo Takakura Hotel Grandereverie and would happily stay here again.
