Good central location. Large comfortable rooms with good amenities. Helpful staff who spoke English.

No coin op laundry in hotel, although there are plenty of options nearby.

The location, close to Shijo subway & walkable distance from Kyoto Station, is excellent for sightseeing as well as shopping. The rooms, though slightly dated, are larger than normal & equipped with all mod cons for a comfortable stay. The hotel rates are very affordable for Japan. The in-house bar is convivial, the gift shop quite reasonably priced & convenient for last-minute gifts. Family Mart, next door, is very well-stocked while the plethora of excellent eateries around the hotel was much appreciated by us after long days of exploring. The staff are all very helpful & responsive, but would make special mention of Ms Fernando at reception. The breakfast room staff too are warm & welcoming. I would definitely stay here again.

The breakfast could have been more varied. Though the menu is quite extensive it does not vary. We stayed 10 nights so found it repetitive.

The room was spacious, and staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location with Shijo station just a few minutes' walk away. There are many convenience stores nearby and a Starbucks next door. Great amenities available in room as well as free bottles of water each day and free Wi-Fi available. Got to the hotel early and was able to leave my luggage to explore before returning for check in. Hotel as meet my room requests.

No laundry available. Air conditioner was set to warm and made the room warm and stuffy. Air conditioner temp could not be changed, and reception unlocked the window, however the window has a large opening which means unsafe if you have children in the room because it opens to a ledge on side of building. This was the only hotel to charge a city tax.

We really enjoyed the hotel and location for easy traveling. I would come back to this hotel next time travelling to kyoto. This was my second time visiting in kyoto and this time I could easkly travel to main attraction.

We got set to prepare for tea, but there were no spoon/knife/fork. Wouldnt harm :) This isnt a critisim but more improvement. 1. List of possible Gluten Free restaurants or gluten free option, it was really hard to find in Kyoto. 2. Bit shoocked that our cabdriver didnt know how/where sanuraj & Ninja museum was.

The double room for single use, I had on the last night, was much more comfortable as compared to the small single room I had at the beginning of my stay, although the bathroom was still small in space, but equipped with everything needed, The breakfast is very good, with a large variety of selections, both in local and international cuisine, also cooked. The location is excellent , since the most interesting places are at walk distance or achievable by subway. The asian restaurant on second floor is excellent. The staff is very gentle

The size of the bathroom is too small. The city tax has to be paid in cash only

conveniently right beside the train exit. it’s an old hotel with slightly dated decor but doesn’t detract from the comfortable and clean rooms. all basic toiletries and necessities are provided. about 5mins walk to one end of shijo street so somewhat near the department stores, food areas and nishiki market.

the room was quite hot for some reason, the air conditioning system wasn't working well

Location is near to Nishiki Market about 10 mins walk. 7 eleven and Lawson are nearby. Train station is nearby, maybe about 2 min to 5 mins walk. Staffs were helpful, allow early check in. Exceeded expectation ! It's not as strategic as Keihan, but less pricey. Keihan is like Asakusa if you prefer a touristy area. Took uber to Keihan, I think about 10 to 15 mins away from Karasuma Hotel.

The hotel is in a great location. Starbucks at the lobby, 7/11 within a very short walk for your other needs. Central location easy to get around Kyoto via bus or train. Or a short walk.

The air conditioning is centrally controlled, heating when cooling would be helpful makes the room very uncomfortable. Fortunately the window can be opened which helps immensely.

Really good spot, close to two subway lines. Room was comfortable and staff were helpful.

No easy laundry service. In order to do laundry guests are required to fill out a form and drop off their bag for the clothes to be sent to a nearby laundromat. Also charged by number of pieces.
