The staff was great* when I arrived before my time and let me use the luggage storage. There are 3 hotel with the same brand in the same street, and each provides something different but you can use them - ie I used the laundry from another KABIN. The location is great, super convenient to go to the market street and even to Gion if you feel like it. The room is spacious and comfortable.

The app idea is good, but I couldn't get the check-in code to work so ended up having to do a normal check-in anyway. *I exchanged money in the machine in the lobby to use the coin laundry, and the machine returned a 50yen instead of 100. I told one of the staff right after I saw it, and he was giving me a side eye like he didn't believe me and almost didn't want to exchange.

Staying at KABIN Machi was a great move. It is located in the heart of the Kyoto/Gion district which is where we wanted to be. This allowed us to travel to other destinations within the surrounding prefectures as we were also very close to the local train system. Kyoto is a mecca for tourist spots and we took advantage of this by hiring a local guide to help us around on one of our 'tourist' days. We have used Javier previously and again he didn't let us down. Kyoto is a fun and exciting palace to visit - 4 days was just enough time.

KABIN Machi was the smallest room we encountered during our 3 week Japan visit; but having said that we were aware most rooms in Japan are small when compared to other countries. This didn't really detract for our stay as most of our time was spent touring.

Very good location and walkable to most of the city. Clean room and facilities, very friendly staff, easy check in once we got to the hotel.

We were unable to check in on the app - I made a whole profile to use it and then it wouldn’t accept our passports. The room is a little smaller than what I expected - queen bed was ok for one person but very tight with two people. Hard bed somewhere in between western standard and normal Japanese bed.

Kabin Machi was our best accommodation in whole Japan (we stayed in 6 different hotels with the similar ratings, but this one is not comparable at all!). The hotel looks new, very stylish and spotless clean. The shower was finally normal, not the small one where you can barely turn. Everything was exactly same as on pictures. In addition, we really enjoyed centrally located neighborhood with 2min walk to good bakery, coffee places and great Italian style pizza place (when we craved some dough 😅). Therefore we highly recommend this property!

As we don't like AC, the blanket provided by hotel was too warm for us and window couldn't be open (but this is the situation in all hotels in Japan anyway).

Amazing location, spacious and well maintained. Only a few minutes walk from the streetfood market and main commercial area as well as the area of Pontocho, which is perfect for having dinner. Possibility of a self check-in is available, which allows for a sorrowless check-in even if arrival is late but they have a permanent reception service too, which is really helpful and rather rare. Equipment was great, especially the hair-dryer. The room was spacious, modern and good state.

It would be great if Netflix could be set up on the TV to allow foreign guests to enjoy some more than just Japanese television. However, that is a pure luxury request and in no way essential.

Great staff, super helpful. The hotel is small and tucked away on a quiet street but do not let that fool you - the rooms provide ample space and everything is really well kept. The bed was comfortable, the shower was spacious and luxurious. We were able to get luggage shipped to and from their sister hotel around the corner, KABIN Taka. We loved the location as we were a quick 5 minute walk to Nishiki Market and the high street. The closest station is also not too far away.

Room was spacious and had enough storage/hooks for us to unpack properly. We checked in via they're app and given a code for the room so we could go straight to it when we arrived. Really good location; just off the main street, lots of great places to eat nearby. The bathroom was a good size and had a decent waterfall shower. Very clean as well.

The biggest thing is the lack of luggage storage before you can check into your room (they only hold you luggage from 1pm to 10pm). The nearest coin lockers are 15min walk from where the hotel is and on the busy main street. The company also emphasises how "chill" they are but emailed me 6 times asking me to check in before I did so - I was aware I needed to check in but felt I didn't need to until we were about to go to the hotel.

Great location and good value. Hotel is a 2 minute walk to a main shopping area. The supermarket directly across the street is very handy. “Sister” hotel, Kabin Taka is 5 minutes down the street. Kabin Taka has a gym and laundry facilities which were available use. Kabin Taka presents nicer (although I did not view the rooms here).

Wasn’t a huge fan of the sink/vanity being in the bedroom (and not the bathroom). Rooms are only serviced once every three days, otherwise there is an extra charge.

The location is very good. The rooms are small but clean and welcoming. The staff in the hotel were very friendly.

The check-in procedure is complicated as the staff is not always present in the hotel, so you will need to visit their twin hotel in case of early check-in or luggage storage. We misunderstood the instructions and we accidentally went to their twin hotel for the check-in. The staff there was very unfriendly and seemed annoyed by the misunderstanding. But once we arrived to the right property, the staff we very nice and friendly.

Very good location and clean room

The fan in the bathroom had to be switched on and off manually from a latch in the shower. It was a bit annoying having to switch it on and off every day. Also, if you’re not tall enough you cannot reach it and need to ask the receptionist to do it. However, there is nobody at reception before 1pm or after 10pm. The fan was too loud to leave it on during the night so we daily switched it on and off. It would help to have the fan automatically switch on or have an accessible switch for it
