The hotel is very clean and comfortable, it’s near famous restaurants and shopping streets.

Why does the staff of this hotel ask me to pay vat 800 yen in cash at hotel for stay 2 nights in Kyoto? I’m confused then I paid 800 yen in cash to him, even though I paid all booking by credit card with booking.com two months ago. The next day, I stayed for 3 nights at other hotel in Osaka with reservation by booking.com, the staff of that hotel doesn’t ask me to pay vat.

I liked how close the hotel is to the Teramachi mall and the Nishiki market. I also liked that the room has plenty of lighting options to read by. I loved the pillows. I’ve read that they are buckwheat husk pillows.

I didn’t like that it was difficult too find. I had thought that the annex meant it was attached to the main hotel, but it’s actually around the block at a different address. I also didn’t care for the breakfast. Their breakfast is a small box that you take to your room to eat. Our room had 1 chair for the two of us and a table that was too high to eat at. The boxed breakfast was very pretty with a green salad 1/2 hard cooked egg, mashed sweet potato a fish roll that was very fishy and two small, small 2” squares of French type bread. I thought is was 700 yen, but it actually turned out to be 1600 yen per person which I think is too much for what we got. It looked beautiful, but it’s not my taste for breakfast and it’s not easy to eat.

This location was excellent in every way: close to fantastic restaurants, Noodle restaurants that had an hour line to get in, Nishiki Market always a grande experience, Takashimaya department store with high end everything, small antique stores across the street from Melia, and the Gion district was very close by. The hotel staff were very nice to us. The hotel room was charming and very clean and orderly. Overall an A+ !!

It was all perfect for us for the 6 nights we were there ! I will recommend the hotel to all of my friends and family.

Large room, very clean and an amazing location! The location itself is clean and quiet and close to conbini and coin laundry. From the hotel you can easily walk to shopping districts and the gion district. The bathroom was clean and comfortable. The bed is the biggest we had in Japan, and comfortable.

I don't like that the toilet automatically makes noise as soon as you sit down. But that is the only issue really.

It’s close to most things including attractions and public transport. it’s also incredibly clean and tidy.

the location could easily be miscommunicated to the taxi driver. just remember to quote to them the address given, not the hotel name as it is the Annex and too similar to their main one. the staff are capable but are also limited to what they are able to do. for example, they cannot make reservations for you for a restaurant as they would incur a fine should you fail to make the reservation. but with everything else like calling for a taxi and other expected tasks, they are more than happy to help.

The hotel room is extremely spacious compared to other hotel rooms in japan, The shower is fun with various of functions, The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable, and lastly - great location, a few minutes walk from Nishki market and a supermarket just near the hotel. Excellent value for money

I really liked this place. It has a lot more space than the 4 other places I stayed at in Japan. Very comfortable beds, quiet, good air flow. Awesome shower in a decent location for exploring all Kyoto has to offer. Luggage storage if you arrive early and after checkout. Free coffee. Friendly staff and good overall value.

Location is perfect, stations are close. Staff are very hospitable and friendly, speak English. The room was very clean, spacious for business hotel in Japan. In the room you find tv, mini fridge, garbage bin, towels, shampoos, shower has different options, great after long travel or business day.

Pillow was very small and not enough for good rest for me

The staff was really helpful and friendly, the location was great and the beds were really comfortable! All the basics were provided as well.

The only downside is the ventilation, it was a bit stuffy, especially when we came back from being around town and in the night.

The hotel was just a couple blocks from the major pedestrian shopping area near Shijo Kawaramachi. In fact, it is located on Teramachi dori, which becomes a covered pedestrian shopping mecca that intersects with Nishiki Market. It was also walking distance from the Kamo River parkway and a charming "old" Kyoto area with twisting streets and a picturesque canal lined with restaurants, bars, and small shops. Plus cherry blossoms.
