I had a wonderful stay at Rinn Kitagomon. The hotel is tucked away in a quiet area, yet still very convenient for exploring Kyoto. The neighborhood feels peaceful and authentic, giving you a real sense of the city's charm. The rooms are clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed. I especially appreciated the minimalist Japanese aesthetic combined with all the comforts you need. Everything felt well-maintained and of high quality. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. They always greeted me warmly and were happy to assist with any questions. Check-in and check-out were smooth and easy. Overall, Rinn Kitagomon is a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. I would happily return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable base while visiting Kyoto.

There was no breakfast offered, but many places to eat nearby. Also, there was only one washing machine, which could be inconvenient if others were using it.

Absolutely incredible location and the comfort of the room was second to none. Super spacious, beautiful and homey. The bathroom having a deep tub was very welcome with all the walking we did - the hotel was so central to both shopping and cultural activities that we wandered all around the city by foot! The hotel is super close to major train lines including the stations connecting to Osaka. We did two day trips to Osaka easily from our hotel, including USJ! Highly recommend if you want to city-hop out of Kyoto. The staff were super accomodating and helpful with all our enquiries or requests.

It can be a bit difficult to schedule laundry as it’s done through a shared single machine on the second level. We found the machine was often occupied when we wanted to use it. The machine also didn’t properly dry clothing so we ended up with our clothes strewn all over our room to air out as the machine couldn’t get things dry even on extra cycles (which were 100 yen each).

We had reserved for two adults and two teenagers (17 and 15 years old). The photo showed what looked like two double beds that in reality were normal twins, so necessary to book another room. The staff was able to procure a second room at a slight discount. Still, an unexpected cost that should have been avoidable. As usual in Japan, the house slippers are all uncomfortably small for westerners’ feet.

Rinn Kitagomon is in a perfect place to see Kyoto. We had a great stay. The staff at the hotel is Wonderful. They were always so helpful, kind and professional. There are so many sights that are perfectly walkable from the hotel. You'll be in an area filled with incredible small streets that you simply MUST walk on. There are plenty of restaurants and stores all around. And yet, we were never bothered by any noise from the street. I did see my first Real Geisha leaving a building in front of the hotel - after she'd had her makeup done. She looked spectacular. What a moment. I was so thrilled I couldn't move...!

I loved our room. Yes, wished there were more shelves and hooks. The room was a bit humid - made it hard for our clothes to dry. But by Japanese standards, it was fine. We had plenty of space to make do

The best thing about his hotel was the size of the rooms - huge compared to Tokyo standards! We stayed four nights and I would recommend it to others.

Location was a little far from the centre, but I think that was reflected in the price and it didn't cause any issues. Unfortunately the mattress was a little saggy for our likes, but we were so tired from all our sight-seeing that it didn't stop us sleeping well. There is a washing machine/dryer but only one so although the hotel only has a few rooms, I had to plan my laundry well to be able to find the machine available!

Bed was comfy, room was spacious, unsure on previous reviews but the location was convenient. Not far from the train station and you can walk across the bridge to check out the riverside restaurants and where it’s mostly modern with shopping centres or on the other side which is more cultural. I just asked reception for Nespresso pods, so no issues there. We hired a car and there is a paid carpark close to the hotel. If in Kyoto again I would stay here again

It’s smelt like smoke around but in the room you cannot smell.

Rinn Kitagomon was a stark contrast to our stay in Tokyo the previous week in terms of space. It was massive room, tastefully done, in the perfect location (downtown Kyoto), close to all the things that you usually do on your first trip to Kyoto. A little luxury with top notch tech used interestingly in the room was delightful. The bathtub came in handy after long walks around the city.

They only have water, washing machine, and other amenities available like that on the 2nd floor so in case you have a room on another floor you might have to do a bit of tour to get some water in the middle of the night.

Small boutique hotel in the heart of Gion, the room very spacious and fully equipped. The plus of this hotel was the staff! Kind super helpful and propositive either in solving problems and realizing your needs/wishes. Superb!

The location was fantastic - so many great restaurants and attractions within walking distance. We even saw a geisha passing by one evening when we were leaving the hotel. The room was spacious with good amenities. We were lucky to always find that the washing machine was free when we went to use it, but this was usually during the middle of the day while our baby napped so perhaps that might not be the case for people wanting to wash in the evening. The machine was efficient and while I was a bit worried about the drying function my clothes were fine. The staff were very friendly and helpful with lots of knowledge about Kyoto and everything from restaurant recommendations to providing umbrellas when it looked like it might rain.

This was our third trip to Kyoto, staying in a different property each time. Rinn Kitagomon was by far our favourite. The location is superb, it’s a great balance of being in a super quiet neighbourhood but within easy walking distance of Gion, the centre of Kyoto, Kiyomizu Dera Temple and more. The room was large with a comfortable double bed and tatami floor area. Whilst there was no view from our lovely air conditioned room, it didn’t matter as we were there to rest after exploring the beautiful city. Everything was spotlessly clean, there was a Nespresso machine and access to ice, cold water and laundry facilities. Above all the staff were super helpful, Chiharu went above and beyond to help us.

Having to leave, could have easily stayed longer!
