Extremely good location- quiet, yet on one turn reaches the main tourist belt towards the attraction. Also on the safer / less sleazy side of Gion. Room is also stacked with many many amenities, thoughtfully packaged (eg towels in a basket). Wooden bath tub in our room was a lovely touch- can create our own private onsen. Has a nice games / facility room with free snacks and drinks, and many childhood board games!
Always had the impression that ryokans would provide all meals, but meals were not included as part of the stay here, which was a bummer. I guess it was the package we chose with booking.com when booking this accommodation.

We had an amazing stay at Yasaka Yutone! It is located right next to Yasaka Pagoda, so it's the perfect place to stay to experience traditional Kyoto and if you want to be there for sunrise and/or sunrise. You can easily walk to places in Kyoto's historic district such as Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka, and Kiyomizu-dera. The staff were all very friendly, and the rooms were very spacious. Our room had a little garden and it was the most beautiful we stayed at during our entire Japan trip. A lot of free drinks and snacks were provided in the room. There is also a lounge area where you can grab free drinks or snacks - you can even make your own matcha! We would definitely come back here again and wished we could have stayed for longer than 1 night.
Quite pricey, but understandable because of the location. Restaurant was also sadly closed on the day we stayed.

Where do I begin? This experience was unlike any my daughter and I have ever had. Starting with the communication before arriving. The staff reached out to me ahead of time to confirm meals and timings. And once we showed up, we couldn’t have been greeted any better. To say the staff is friendly is an understatement, as they genuinely went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. They are all so accommodating; it truly made us feel like royalty. The meals were exceptional. Dinner was an Eight-course meal, which lasted for two hours, as we watched our chef expertly craft each course. Breakfast was no less impressive and what you’d expect in a traditional Japanese inn. Lastly, the room was immaculate and very organized, with so much detail placed into it. I highly recommend this place if you’re considering staying in a traditional Ryokan, as we would stay here again.

It’s a very traditional lodging and it’s located within the old town so it’s very easy to get around. The amenities are great and there’s a lot of attention to detail. The food is also really good too!
We have to leave our shoes at the reception which is typical for such traditional lodging. It’s just that the entrance is a little small so it makes it just a little challenging especially when during winter and one may be wearing more chunky high cut winter shoes cos there’s no seat.

What a way to end our three week visit to Japan! We did a tour and visited all the must see sights and experienced all the must eat meals. We capped our our visit with a stay at Yasaka Yutone. It was our first stay at a ryokan and it was the memorable highlight of our trip. Tge ryokan is set in a gorgeous old neighborhood of Kyoto. The facilities were amazing! Serene, beautiful and every amenity was thoughtfully presented. We loved the presentation! The kimonos they supplied were beautiful. The snacks and drinks in our room were great. But the kaiseki dinner was exquisite and beautifully prepared by the chef. We now understand the Japanese practice of morisuke, food should be a feast for the eyes before the stomach. It was the best meal we had in Japan.
We loved everthing.

Yasaka Yutone is hands down my favorite hotel/ryokan in Kyoto. It only has a few rooms so very quiet and cozy. And there are onsen baths in every room. There were luxury touches like a basket of snacks, pajamas, tea and coffee sets and excellent service. The Kaiseki dinner alone is worth booking the hotel as it's just beautifully coursed and a wonderful authentic kaiseki experience.
I wish we had more nights there.

Super clean and beautiful establishment, the staff was really helpful and polite. Amazing vibes of this ryokan. Additionally, our breakfast was really tasty.
Booked room on booking was showing a nice garden view, but instead we got the one on the upper floor that had an ugly view to nowhere. No such a big deal but I would appreciate it if it was more accurate, as I was looking forward to have a nice view to the small zen garden

We had a wonderful stay at this cozy ryokan tucked away in a central yet peaceful location. The room was impressively spacious and spotless – one of the cleanest we've stayed in! What really made the experience special was the staff: incredibly kind, thoughtful, and attentive to every detail. This place truly exceeded our expectations. We’ll definitely be recommending it to friends and would love to return in the future!

Beautiful access to Gion, the best staff, very attentive and caring. Everything supplied that was needed plus I ended buying the nice tea cups and pj set that was very comfortable. The food and drinks in fridge are all free to use. There is a living room so supplying additional drinks like matcha.
Nothing. The property has curfew but we didn’t mind since you get exhausted after a long day and would like to rest.

the room was what we were hoping for: a traditional ryokan experience with all the comforts of a modern hotel. the hosts are very attentive and kind, especially the lady who attended our table at dinner, who was friendly and helped us navigate the traditional Japanese cuisine in perfect English. the location is excellent, right in the middle of old Kyoto
the food was very nice, at both breakfast and dinner, but maybe not the best Kaiseki dinner we had in Kyoto. all in all the experience was a bit pricey, but this neighbourhood is quite expensive per se
