Authentic Japanese Experience: This is a truly traditional Japanese hotel (ryokan), offering a unique and immersive stay. Serene Location & Views: Nestled on a hill in a quiet neighborhood with narrow streets, it offers magnificent views. Beautiful Design: The hotel's design is both charming and inviting, making for a very pleasant atmosphere. Spacious Traditional Rooms: The Japanese-style rooms are exceptionally large, providing plenty of space to relax. Tasty Breakfast Box: Breakfast comes conveniently in a box with two delicious options to choose from. Good Local Dining: There are several excellent restaurants located nearby.

Tricky Parking: The parking area is a bit far from the hotel, and accessing it via the narrow streets can be a bit challenging.

Nice hotel that is out of the way with lots of food nearby. Great food at Manjal and the pub behind Manjal. Public and private onsen (2200 for private 1 hour). Parking around back down the hill. Very clean hotel with bathrooms in room.

Staff were not the most friendly upon greeting us and directing us where to park our car. Paid breakfast was below average with a rather simple bento box and terrible luke warm coffee. No Coffee available outside of the paid morning breakfast. Hallways on upper floors are tired and the onsite restaurant was being renovated

Beautiful stay if you’re looking for a spacious traditional looking room. Such a peaceful & gorgeous location near the foot of the mountains. There’s also a nearby food place called Manjal that I super recommend. Apart from that, the place is just surrounded with gorgeous food places!

I got tattoos so I tried 2 different days to get a private bath to no avail. I wish I was given a reason why I couldn’t get one for 2 days. Also a bit of a drive from the station if you’re looking for a stay that makes it easy to get to & fro other places.

This was just an incredible experience! The view from our mountain view room was stunning, the room was huge and comfortable, the onsen facilities were lovely, and staff were incredibly polite and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. The miso soup was the best we tasted anywhere. Being able to enjoy it in our room looking at a view of the mountains made a great start to the day. A shuttle bus was provided to Matsumoto station in the mornings, which made it easy to enjoy the town as well. There are several local eating options and a map provided by the hotel. Not all are open every day, so if there is something you specifically want to try, you may want to eat further afield or plan ahead.

Really I would not have changed anything!

The perfect hotel to unwind. Situated in a tranquil street overlooking the mountains, during fall it was such a pretty place to visit with the foliage. We visited after spending busy days in Tokyo, and the quieter area was very much welcomed. We stayed in a traditional room, which was very big, overlooking the mountains. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very tasty and the onsen was excellent. There are some lovely cafes in the neighbouring streets and only a 10 minute drive into Matsumoto. Highly recommend!

Very nice Onsen hotel close to the mountains with perfect view of the city from our room. Very lovely Japanese room with tatami but real beds (for my friend a must), quite big as well, with TV (with English NHK World). I loved the onsen, it was beautiful, clean, hot and so relaxing with a great view. The staff was very nice as usual, and we had a shuttle service in the morning back to the station. The breakfast box was great, I loved not having to leave the room, but eat in peace and quiet. We choose the Japanese bento box, which was delicious!

Just that there aren't always many restaurants around the area. We stayed over a weekday and most of them were closed. I would also have loved to be able to buy the Yukata in the hotel shop :)

The hotel isn’t new but very well maintained and it looks charming. The rooms are spacious and the mountain view is nice. The onsen is spacious, and they have both indoor and outdoor options. Staff were nice and friendly. Free parking nearby

I was in a car, so the location didn’t matter much but if you travel on a public transport, check how you’re gonna get there first

Nice hotel and very clean and tidy and nice style, as some wrote a bit older but still very nice. The private onsen is renovated and was very nice aswell as the public onsen. The service was very nice and you could choose between two breakfasts and if this would be sent to your room or be eaten in the dining area. Prebookable free shuttle to the train station, which was very convenient to use. The hotel is in the outskirts of Matsumoto and just next to a forest and small mountain for those who like to take a run or hike there. Cute shop and bakery located nearby as some nice restaurants.

The room looks like a Riokan and the views are great. There is a shuttle between the Hotel and Matsumoto station.

There was free transportation from the hotel to Matsumoto station and vice versa, but we only found out about it when we checked in. If we had known earlier, we would have used the shuttle to go from Matsumoto to the Hotel.

The space of our room was wonderful. Beautiful bedding and…..that view!!! The Onsen’s were beautifully equipped, clean and spacious. The private Onsen, a definite must. A pleasant surprise to have a shuttle bus available to the train station.
