I am so grateful for not having to sleep in a bunk bed as a budget traveler. Each guest has their own room (separated from neighboring rooms by a thin wall and sliding door) and a decently sized bed. You get free towels and clothing to use as well and if you want, you can use the onsen/ sauna. They even give free welcome drinks every day and in the morning you can also get coffee and juice outside at the small counter. The location is amazing (right inside a cozy mall that has a big supermarket and lots of eateries), with major bus stops right outside. If you plan to visit Naoshima and nearby places, this hostel is perfect. All in all, this is the most comfortable hostel I've stayed at in Japan and I enjoyed Okayama so much because of that!

Really, nothing. Compared to other hostels where you sleep in bunk beds in tiny rooms and don't have a big common room to relax in, this is as close to perfect as it can get. Please stay here! :)

The hotel boasts an excellent location, just a 3-minute walk from the north exit of JR Okayama Station. Guests are warmly greeted with a complimentary welcome drink upon arrival. The public bath and sauna facilities are exceptional, offering a truly relaxing experience. Breakfast is a delightful treat, featuring local ingredients and flavors that are sure to leave an impression. A top choice for travelers seeking quality and convenience.

Unfortunately, the solo traveler’s cabin is poorly insulated, resulting in excessive noise. Despite wearing earplugs, I could distinctly hear the loud sounds of other guests sleeping from across the hallway. The entire experience was nothing short of dreadful.

Excellent service, well beyond what I had expected. A beautiful welcome to Japan. Despite being an affordable cabin stay; the staff go above and beyond. The facilities also exceed expectations with an impressive bath. Breakfast may not have been provided, but the perfect location right behind the central station encourages you to go out and explore the local delicacies, which are neatly affordable in this city.

I could not even begin to imagine of any complaints! The biggest issue I had was the lack of drinking water, either there was not any, or I could not find it, but the clearest way to get a drink was either the front bar or a vending machine.

Stayed for one night, the cabin room was good, had most amenities needed. Free towels provided and clothes for going to the bath. The bathrooms were super clean and had toiletries and appliances. I didn't have time to try the gym or public bath but they looked good. Location was excellent - right next to the central station and lots of shops, restaurants and a mall.

Could do with an extension lead for the plug socket behind the TV. I arrived at 14:57 and staff made me wait 3 minutes to check in, seemed a bit petty. No good area for working. The "workspace" is very small and silent so you can't take calls in there.

Everything. What a hidden gem of a hotel. Had everything I needed and the style of the place with a grand piano playing and cleanliness of all areas was great. Even offering a free alcholic beverage and free tea, coffee and soft drinks was an added bonus. Onsen was awesome too

We stayed on a Friday night and unfortunately there was a lot of coming and going between 11.30 pm and 1.30am. Every time my neighbour went out of her capsule the magnetic blind would slam shut and she went back and forwards numerous times to bathroom not the slightest bit concerned that others were trying to sleep. I had to be up and going at 6am and only managed a couple of hours sleep.

What a premium experience! Entering Hotel Abest immediately gives you a "grande" feeling ... the entrance area and reception was very beautifully decorated for Christmas and well maintained with a map of nearby restaurants and areas. There is no cramped feeling like a typical budget capsule hotel, you feel like you're in a regular hotel. Even the "capsule" is basically a little room for yourself, with enough space to keep your luggage indoors and even walk around and a bedside table with a huge locker to store your personal items. A wall mounted TV and loungewear is also provided for you to relax, after you enjoy the excellent sento facilities. The women's section requires keycard access and has its own toilets inside. I was only here for a one-night stay, but what an enjoyable night it was. You also get a free welcome drink at the bar and amenities near the reception! Staff is kind and very welcoming, even though I didn't speak much Japanese, they tried very hard to communicate with me. Location is very close to Okayama Station and you can easily walk to Okayama-jo and Koraku-en.

I enjoyed it and only have some small suggestions for improvement. 1. It would be nice to have one or two English mangas for foreign guests to read :) 2. A sign on how to use the laundry would be very useful. I used my phone to translate the sign on the machine, but some older foreign guests were confused about it and I helped them out. 3. Could provide some drinking water option in the women's cabin area, so guests don't have to leave the cabin and go to another floor for water.

the location is perfect, staff was amazing, the facilities were tidy and clean with more than just 2 cabin showers...also the bed was really comfy

Though this is a cabin, i still expected a bir more privacy. They informed that the door/curtain cannot be locked, which I was fine with since each room had a huge locker, so my valuables were safe. But at the top of the door was a gap, thus, I could hear everyone chatting, snoring, coughing, drying their hair at midnight or 5 am etc. In one word - noisy. I believe if the cabin was fully closed from any outside noise I'd give 10/10 to this stay.

The hotel is less than 5minutes walk from Okayama Station and close to the tram and shopping centre. This hotel had regular hotel room and dormitory type of accommodation. I really like the hybrid room I have. Its like a dormitory style with a convenient of a hotel. The room is decent, comfortable bed and just enough space to put my luggage beside the bed. The breakfast buffet had decent selection of food. I love it. The staffs are amazing. I left the luggage with ease and the same staff help me with check-in. He speaks good English and very helpful. When I left the hotel, a friendly staff near the elevator say a nice departing goodbye. They are really impressive. I highly recommend them.

The bathhouse was great and the staff there were lovely. They had complimentary ice coffee and tea, 1 free ice cream or lolly ice, the place was really beautiful and literally minutes from the station. They even seen you off with someone waiting by the elevator to give you some sweeties or a cake. I really enjoyed it.

WIFI was bad in the room and the welcome drink could only be served in a small plastic cup, who drinks beer out of a small plastic cup. I stayed in a Cabin room which was nice but the cabin rooms don't have toilets so every time someone needs to go in the middle of the night I woke up. You do get your own room and you don't share but it was a little noisy for me personally.

The staff were very friendly and helpful with everything, the cabin room was actually quite comfortable and sufficiently spacious for the price I paid, the temperature was perfect, especially for the hot summer weather, it was also very nice that there is a gym and a sauna

As a minor inconvenience: the gym closed way too early, which is inconvenient as I can finish work quite late sometimes, and the breakfast also ends too early: in summary the timetable of some of the facilities is not ideal for night people like me
