I was almost scared off by reviews, but staying nearly a week, I had a perfectly fine experience - just what you'd expect from a 1-star hotel. My provided pillow + futon were clean (though a little thin), as was my room. The shared bathroom on my floor was always clean, and for women the shower was open 24 hours. You still receive a free onsen ticket for every night (after the first night you ask at the front), which was great! The location is great, just a few minute walk from the train stations; I was even able to comfortably walk to nearby destinations like Dotonbori and Denden Town on nicer days. So long as you're not expecting a 'normal' hotel experience, it's great value as a step above a capsule hotel - cheap, convenient place to shower + sleep in the privacy of your own room.

The walls are quite thin - everyone on my floor was quiet, but you can still hear anything outside (cats, drunk people) so maybe bring earplugs. The surrounding area is a little sketchy compared to other Japanese cities, but even as a solo female I generally felt okay. Anything outside of what is provided in the room you have to buy, so make sure to bring your own towel, toothbrush, etc. The front desk hours end at 11 pm, so you need to arrange checking in any later than that. You have to take your shoes off in the hotel and use their provided slippers, but sometimes when I came back late at night there were no more slippers available, and no one to ask...

Great location near a metro station with quiet, clean streets. The rooms are smaller than in other countries, but that seems to be a cultural norm here. Overall, a pleasant stay with convenient access to transportation.

I initially stayed on a smoking floor, which wasn’t ideal as a non-smoker. The staff was helpful and moved me to a non-smoking room, but it was still on the same floor as smoking rooms. This improved the situation somewhat, but it wasn’t perfect. I would suggest more separation between smoking and non-smoking areas to enhance comfort for all guests

The hotel is way better then the reviews suggest. It surpassed my expectations. My room seemed to have been relatively recently renovated and was ok comfy. The location is good, close to the metro and jr station

The tatami mats were a bit uneven. The door to the room was just a thin metal sheet, so that every noise on the hallway could be heard. The bathroom facilities still await renovations and the hallways give the feels of an ooold youth hostel. I think they are on a good way though, and are worth a higher rating than they recently have.

This hotel was everything I need and like when travelling. It is very basic accommodation with a shared bathroom close to a train station. The room was non-smoking and quiet and I loved the Japanese style bed, it was very good for my back. The room also had a small tv and fridge, and the shared female bathroom was very clean and well equipped. I also smoke and there is an outside smoking area and the choice of smoking or non smoking rooms. This is a perfect budget accommodation for someone who doesn't need all the thrills and just wants the basics and helpful staff. The area around has cheap and good food and people are friendly.

If you have smaller feet maybe you could bring your own house slippers, but that's all!

Great hotel for women! I have tried several, and It is the best budget hotel in the area! The best things are that the female bathrooms and shower are separate and very clean! You get your own small room, which is very nice and comfortable and feels safe! The room is equipped with AC, a small fridge, coat hanger, a small desk, a small TV, a cabinet for storage and hanging clothes, and a window! The rooms have always been clean and nice! You also get a free onsen ticket for the local onsen when you check in!!

My least favorite thing about the hotel is that it smells like cigarettes in some of the hallways since there is a balcony for smoking and the windows are sometimes open. It also smells like cigarettes at the bottom floor next to check in. The smell isn't too bad, though, and doesn't get into the rooms, which is great!

Room is clean but got smoking smell. Got share bathroom for women only. Very clean and well maintained. Got one shower room and 2 toilets. Inside got hairdryers. Location is about 10 minutes walk from Shin-imamiya station. This hotel is near the shinsegai area where you can get local food or drink. Got convenient store and laundry shop near the hotel. Overall I think it’s good value for money. In the lobby there is water filter machine and oven to heat up your food. There is also refrigerator and tv in the room.

Smoking smell in the room.

The location was good because it wasnt too far from Dotonbori, and the service was nice and people were friendly. Everything was clean and great value. Very modern and simple. Near a great mosque.

I did not like that the shower was not available at times until later in the day, which wasn't a big problem, but just meant plans may not have gone as intended.

Price is good and you get an onsen ticket each day to a bath house. Hotel is close the the train station and very convenient to get to which is a plus. Staff have been professional and very helpful.

Toilet cubicle space was a little small. Shower room is shut after 10pm and microwave is taken away after 10pm.

The staff doesn't really speak English but they were supernice and helpful. The location is good from the aspect that easy to get anywhere. It is just right at Shinsekai Market and the Zoo. Kansai Airport is available taking only one train.

Only thing is that outside in the neighbouring streets there are many homeless people.

Did exactly what it said on the box! Somewhere to sleep, bathe, and keep your things while you travel.

The futon was a little thin! I expect sleeping on a futon to be firm, but this was a little thinner than I'm used to. The pillow was also a bit stiff. The area's also a bit rough, but that doesn't bother me.
