The Hotel is 5 star and the rating is justified. I used services at the hotel like laundry and ate at one of their fine restaurants. Service was excellent and No Western hotel could compare with the type of service provided at the New Otani. We took breakfast both Japanese and Western. The food was prepared very well but the taste was so-so. Not because it was bad but because I believe the Hotel did not want to do anything disagreeable. However the restaurant in the Hotel which we tried was difference. Very special and the tastes were delicious. Ultimately there is nothing to complain about at the New Otani in Osaka. However, except for the Castle and Park there is nothing much going on in the neighborhood of the Otani. But there is "subway" transportation nearby and you can reach any neigborhood in Osaka or travel to other nearby cities like Kobe or Kyoto or Nara. We visited Kobe and I recommend it. Only about 30 minutes away ( Nara and Kyoto are closer) and the city is less crowded and shopping is also great.

My main complaint was not about the Hotel but the booking by Booking.com. The contract had in clear print that I was entitled to a free taxi from the airport to the hotel. I did not get that ride. In fact I discussed it with the staff and managers at the hotel and showed them the contract details I had printed out and brought with me. They said "we know nothing about this and you will have to ask Booking.com". I tend to believe the Hotel and what I learned was to book hotels directly and most important NEVER USE BOOKING .COM AGAIN. We travel a lot and you just lost a very good customer.

The staff were amazing; polite, friendly and transparent if there were costs involved with Services. The breakfast was absolutely worth paying for - excellent selection of quality Western and Japanese cuisine staples. Coffee however was "American" style - being percolated - but there are two Starbucks and a few local Cafes within 200m of the hotel if you prefer Australian/Euro style.

I get the feeling the rooms are a little dated and starting to show their age. This is minor however given the cleanliness of the hotel rooms were immaculate.

The hotel matches your expectation for luxury hotel, some of the decor is visibly older, but overall its pretty well maintained. The room is spacious, and facilities are excellent. We travelled with a 10-month old baby and were provided all the essentials for a comfortable stay. The breakfast was decent, not amazing - but considering this area is more business focused it's worth the price if you don't want to have to commute to other areas for a better option. The staff was excellent, plenty of staff around, always ready to help, and with good English speaking ability.

Location - close to the JR line and subway and also to the Castle. The view of the canal and the cherry blossom trees were very pleasant to walk and enjoy the atmosphere. Staff were all very pleasant, helpful and informative. Special mention on Mr Nishida , Taw and Zaw .

I understand it is a business hotel but the breakfast is too expensive. Also on 14 April check out time was 12 noon but my flight out was at 9.10pm. I requested for late checkout, but was denied! and were asked to pay for quite a high rate for a 1 to 2 hrs extension. Because of the cost, we did not extend. We taught that after staying for 5 days, we could at least get a complimentary extension for 2 hrs. That did not happen. We also stayed in Hotel Granvia Kyoto and they were more accommodating with extension of time for late check out for 1 hrs!,

Great location: You can get the train from KIX airport to the hotel. It's a 5 minute walk from the Osakajokoen train station on the loop line and it's easy to get to even with a big suitcase (Tip: Buy a prepaid Icoca train card which makes it much easier to travel by train) Fabulous breakfast: Book breakfast. It's an absolute treat! Both Japanese and Western breakfasts and caters for all diets and all tastes. Bar with a view: Spend an hour or so in the sky bar on the 18th floor. It's not cheap but it won't break the bank and the view is stunning. Room itself: Very comfortable mattress. Air conditioning. Large rooms. No UK or European TV channels. Only CNN. Large bathroom. Shower in bath tub so no extra shower. Pyjamas provided. But take an adapter as there is not one in room for mobile phones, electric toothbrush etc. Tea and coffee making facilities in room. Hotel: 6 elevators. Patisserie and Café in the spacious lobby. Fitness centre with 20m pool BUT not included in room rate. Approx 25 EUR for a day pass. Quick tip: Get an eSim for Japan before you leave. Absolutely priceless. I purchased one from Nomad but there are also other providers. (I was using about 0.5 GB a day with Google maps as a guideline)

We had a very comfortable stay at Hotel New Otani Osaka. The location was excellent—just a short walk to the metro and right across from Osaka Castle, which we could see clearly from our room. The room itself was a great size for three adults, clean and well-kept, with beds that were perfectly comfortable after long days exploring the city. What really stood out was the porter staff—they were incredibly helpful and genuinely went above and beyond to assist with directions and luggage.

While the hotel had a lot going for it, there were a couple of small downsides. The fittings are a little dated, and the bathroom had a shower over the bath which may not suit everyone. Also, the hotel restaurant was quite expensive compared to local dining options nearby. That said, the overall experience was very positive and we’d happily stay again for the location and excellent service.

Location was good, it was clean, the room was perfect (requested a quiet location away from heavily trafficked areas). Staff were helpful when booking taxi services.

The breakfast was not commensurate with the highly rated hotel. Would have preferred excellent coffee from an expresso machine rather than a pot of American style coffee that was not hot enough. The staff were unwilling to refund the breakfast meals that we could not take advantage of due to changes in our schedule. We would have appreciated credit towards another service at the hotel. We were offered credit towards other days, but not on days when we could use them.

The location of the hotel, the size of the rooms and the comfortable beds were very good. Staff is very helpful and all speak perfect English

When booking the rooms we booked this hotel especially because of the swimming pool, fitness and highlighted breakfast. Unfortunately, everything in this hotel is only available for a fee. Swimming is only available for a fee, fitness only early in the morning free of charge otherwise for a fee and breakfast was very Japanese influenced which should not be negative. But quality was not according to a 5 star hotel ...

The location was excellent - close to Osaka Castle and JR line Osakajokoen station... the room was spacious and big with direct view of Osaka Castle....the reception staff and room keeping staff went out of their way to help and guide us...10 on 10 for that...

What we were upset with was that we were given only 2 complimentary bottles of water per day and when we asked for additional bottles we were asked to "pay" for them (450 yen per bottle)....this is unfair as the hotel needs to understand adults and children cannot live on 2 bottles of water and charging for extra bottles is unfair. Last but not the least we were expecting a 5 star hotel to have a 5 star buffet breakfast...but what we again saw was limited and repeated buffet...disappointed big time....maybe the hotel management needs to visit any of the gulf countries to truly understand what a buffet breakfast is.

Location near JR line and metro. For those travelling from/to Kansai Airport to/from hotel, taking the JR Osaka Loop line from/to Osaka Jo Koen station, takes about 1hour 20mins without changing train. Hotel room is quiet, clean and spacious, for 3 persons. There's a Ice making machine on our level. Room amenities besides provide shower/shampoo and hair treatment bottles, also disposable slippers, comb, toothbrushes, ladies facial lotion/makeup removal/moisturizer, shower cap, hand bar soap, razor....bottled water, English tea/green tea, coffee, sugar, creamer for each guest, all top up everyday once guest uses. Yukata also provided(one size fits all), so I don't have to bring pajamas. Room service is very well done everyday. The breakfast served Western and Japanese food, very good variety. We enjoyed the breakfast.
