Overall, the experience was positive. Perfect for a short stay. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. The bed was large and comfortable, and all the necessary facilities were provided. The traditional Japanese breakfast was delicious. Both the in-room toilet and the one on the ground floor were clean and well-maintained. I also appreciated the option to store luggage before check-in and after check-out. A special highlight was the excellent location in the city center, close to train stations — very convenient for getting in from Kansai Airport and for further travel to Nara or Kyoto.

The room was rather small, which is not unusual for Japan, but still, two suitcases took up nearly all the available floor space. During check-in, guests are required to manually enter their information on a screen, which felt inconvenient after a long journey, especially since the same details were already provided when booking through Booking.com. Additionally, the hotel scans your passport, which raises some questions about the necessity of this step.

We recently stayed at this hotel and had a fantastic experience. The room was clean and very comfortable. The bed was cozy, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and we appreciated the thoughtful touches like complimentary toiletries, and a well-stocked coffee/tea. The location was very convenient—close to shops, restaurants, and public transport. Staff were friendly and always happy to help with directions or suggestions on what to do nearby. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and would definitely come back or recommend this hotel to others!

Size of the room

The facility was very nice. Had an ice machine so I could fill my water bottle and have cold water throughout the day. I did not have breakfast there, but it was nice that Kuromon marketplace was just several minutes away and Dotonburi was a 20 minute walk. The room was a very good size and I liked that you can choose an option to have your room cleaned up. It was only me and I am not a slob so I chose the no clean option which helped the environment.

It would have been very nice if Toyoko Inn can give you directions how to arrive at their place from the train station. Google maps isn't all that accurate and does not give you nearby landmarks.

Overall had a pleasant stay with Toyoko Inn. The building and interior of my room was slightly outdated. I only could book a smoking floor room at the time and room stank of cigarettes. Took 2 days to air out the smell. With my room being in the end near a balcony I found people outside my door. A little worrying as there are no CCTV cameras on the floors only the lifts and common areas. I enjoyed the free buffet breakfast where I could get home cooked food before starting my day. Really helpful with my early morning starts. The hotel is located in a great area, a subway exit 3 mins away but be warned no lifts as I had to carry luggage up and the down the stairs. Great transport links to the city, main JR lines and Universal studios. The laundromat has big industrial style machines wash and dry my clothes quickly. One machine did ruin a pair of linen trousers though.

As it’s on a main road there be people racing cars at night. Hotel is also opposite an hospital. So can be noisy. My air con kept blowing out dead bugs.

Conveniently close to a lot of markets though it is a bit of walk to Namba and Shinsaibashi as the accommodation sits more along the outskirts/exit of the main area. Despite being quite close to the road and freeway, there is not much noise. The unit bath was standard but decently large compared to more expensive accommodations. There was a laundry machine on premise but we did not get the chance to use it.

Quite of a bit of walking from the station, especially as a group carrying large luggages that echo as you roll them through the neighbourhood streets. Might want to consider a luggage service if possible. The rooms were a tad bit small but that is to be expected - could still fit 2 luggages ~157cm total dimension.

It's very close to dotonbori's center but without the fuzz. It was clean and quiet, the room was just fine.

The ventilation and air conditioning were low in the lobby and corridors. The staff doesn't speak English and doesn't try to listen or help you with simple things. The laundry room had no instructions in English so you will either use Google lense or guess how things work. Breakfast was super basic and if you're not into Asian style noodles and boiled vegetables for breakfast you'll just have to eat toast with butter and marmalade.

Close proximity to train station. Didn't realise how close it was to Kuromon markets and walking distance to Dotonbori (10 mins) this was super handy. Room was adequate and what you expect to pay for the price. Bathroom was good size, deep bathtub and strong shower and extra bedtime gowns, toothbrushes, razors etc available at reception. Great common eating area as a large group we could meet downstairs to eat together. Room decor outdated but overall okay. Staff were super helpful in helping us transfer luggage from hotel back to hotel in Tokyo and very reasonably priced.

Breakfast was not good for westerners. I can't eat rice/noodles and meat for breakfast so I didn't eat the free breakfast provided. We did find a perfect breakfast place across the road that served french toast, scrambled eggs, pancakes etc for around 1000 yen. Bed was also so hard and not enough pillows.

This hotel is strategically located near metro stations (10min walk to the nearest), and 5 to 10 min walk to the main pedestrian area of Osaka with Glicko, where all the food businesses and night activities are located. I've booked other Toyoko Inn rooms before, and although some would describe it as simple, the room and the service never disappoint me and meet my expectations. Room was well furnished, clean, with all I need and ask (non-smoking). Breakfast was provided and offers mainly Japanese food (which I personally was satisfied with) ; there are few but limited options if you prefer Western breakfast style.

Room was a good size, especially for the price and in Japan - pretty much all hotel rooms are much smaller than in the west. Bathroom was very clean and a decent-ish size. They provide toiletries like body wash, toothpaste, etc. Key card needed to get into the elevator which is good. Air conditioning works very well.

Free breakfast was good if you like Japanese food but basically no western options - to be fair the majority of the people who stay here are Japanese so this isn't really a surprise. Location isn't amazing as it is a fair walk to Dotonburi, etc but it is close to a subway station. Bed wasn't the best (admittedly this is pretty standard in Japan) and pillows were not good - bring your own if possible.

It was a nice little room and I felt like it was cozy. Had all the amenities I could need and it was close to what I wanted to see and a quick walk to the subway. Staff was friendly and helpful. And for the price, I definitely stay here again.

I could smell smoke in my room it wasn't strong but it's not exactly pleasant. I also just wish I had another pillow to make it a bit more comfortable but that's a personal thing since I need lumbar support.
