Lake front location about 20 minutes walk away from the main town. There's also a bus stop right outside if you wanna wait for the infrequent buses. A quiet environment, and there's still a Seicomart next door. It's a 3 minute walk from a nearby pier where you can view the nightly lake-side fireworks (Apr to Oct). There's no lighting provided though, so watch your step. Room is spacious and there's also a public bath.

20 minute walk from town coupled with infrequent buses makes this a place difficult to return to if you don't plan your schedule well, so watch out for that. Easily solved if you drive, or plan well.

I really liked the room: it was very spacious (especially for Japan standards!!). It was also nice and comfortable to have a sitting nook, especially if you spend a few days there. And the lake views are absolutely beautiful. It was also very nice to be able to just step outside to see the fireworks at night.

The beds. Good god, they were hard. The location is fine if you have a car (free and ample parking) but a bit out of the way if you don't. We didn't really see much of the staff, e.g. for check-out, there was nobody at the reception desk. We gave our room key to the person who was cleaning the rooms.

The meals are full of nutrients and opened our door to appreciate an authentic Japanese meals. Quite an experience. We love home cooked meal. The hotel is directly right outside the lake where you can have a full view of the fireworks. My friends managed to catch the shooting star at night! *Pray* There is a short 1hr hike to the observation point beside the hotel to do a short walk in the morning. There is a mart beside the hotel, just 5 mins walk. In case you need supper or some snacks. The hotel also provide a water machine which includes coffee/ hot green tea and hot water. Free parking outside the hotel. We didn't forget our onsen with the hotel. Super traditional kind of onsen. Male and female 'tang'. Strongly recommended and will definitely come back again for next road trip. Try it for yourself for the real deal!

A comfortable family-run (I supposed) accommodation by the side of the lake with stunning view and warm staff. Room is clean and of good space, with 24-hour supply of hot coffee/tea right outside your room. Breakfast is big. Dinner is Very Big and delicious. Just a few minutes' drive to whatever tourist spot you want to visit. The every-night firework display is right in front of the accommodation. A undeniable value-for-money choice of stay.

Quaint and quiet place by the lake. Big rooms with windows facing the lake. The bathhouse was good as well. Most of the time, I'm alone inside. Breakfast was amazing and homely. The place is run by an elderly couple, and they were really attentive and friendly as well. For people who are coming here, I would recommend driving as the nearest town is quite a distance away. Having said that, there is a convenience store right beside it.

Pension Ohno is in a super convenient location, with a bus stop right outside the property or big carpark for those who drive and easy access to toyako onsen, sobetsu onsen and the local mountain hiking trails. The lake view from the rooms is really enjoyable when drinking japanese tea by the window or eating in the on-site restaurant. Dinner and breakfast were both delightful - we were served a variety of mains and side dishes with multiple courses for both meals; the sashimi was very fresh, whelk and pickled vegetables went well with the delicious rice and the beef stew was really special. Beds were comfortable and on-site onsen bath was peaceful. The owners were very friendly and helpful despite us not speaking much Japanese. We booked this after reading the translated reviews and it exceeded expectations. (Pension is Japanese for B&B).

nothing - great place to stay, would highly recommend

I thought I already reviewed this place... but booking.com keeps asking for another review... so here we go. This is a great traditional pension near Lake Toya. Ample parking, great included dinner and breakfast, friendly people. There's convenience store next door. The room had a great view of Lake. Definitely a good place for a stopover on a Hokkaido road trip.

Very nice sized room for the money. I was upgraded (at no cost) to a north facing room with a lovely view of the lake. The men's on-site public bath was comfy. The Japanese style breakfast each morning was tasty and very filling. There's a Seicomart next door. Great, peaceful location!

Clean, comfortable, relax and refresh, country style. Both dinner and breakfast are tasty. The owner is nice to help me to solve the transportation problem when we cannot find a taxi.

Not easy to get taxi to nearby area, will be better to give pick up service to bus terminal in early morning for those who are not driving.

Friendly and helpful owner/staff. Nice location with lake view. Ample parking. Great breakfast and dinner sets by owner.

Not much... the room and facilities have seen better days with designs outdated. Toilet is small. However cannot complain with price point and other services included.
