Loved it. We had stayed in Takayama before, at a different hotel, and when we walked past the Apina, I made a note to stay there next time! It is quite central, so it is possible to shop at the daily market or in the beautiful old town area and keep nipping back with your treasures! The staff were absolutely fantastic. I'm sorry I didn't get the name of the receptionist when we arrived, but she was absolutely great and (bonus) spoke excellent English, so I didn't need to use my rusty Japanese too much. Due to a signal failure, we had to take a completely different route to get to Takayama and consequently were quite late, but everything was fine. The onsen was still open, so we could go up to the top floor and relax. The view from the bath really is as spectacular as it looks, but of course you can't view the town until you stand up - otherwise, everyone in Takayama would have a view of you as well. So the lower part of the window is frosted. Huge and comfortable indoor bath, plus a superb outdoor one. Next time, I will try to get up early and have a morning bath as well, but the bed was too comfy for that. There was an option to select a different pillow in reception, which I didn't spot until we were leaving, despite it being very obvious. Another time, I will probably try a different one. Breakfast was really excellent and delicious. We stayed for 2 nights but next time we will stay much longer. We have still only seen a fraction of Takayama.

Good location. The hotel is only a few minutes walk away from the train station. Everything you need is within walking distance, including the old town and many tourist attractions. There's konbini right around the corner as well. The room was clean and comfortable, and looked as it did in the pictures. The staff was great; very kind and helpful. The front staff spoke English as well, so communication was easy and I had a very comfortable stay. Breakfast was decent and offered both western and Japanese options.

The glass railing on the outside bath (on women's side) is blurred, unlike in the pictures on the booking site. Understandably this is for privacy reasons, but it kind of defeats the purpose of the spa with a view, as you can't see a thing. There was moss growing between the tiles under the railing, which didn't really add to the relaxing atmosphere, so the outdoor bath was a bit of a letdown.

Excellent Location: This large hotel is within walking distance of all the main attractions, making sightseeing incredibly easy. Great Nearby Restaurants: There are numerous excellent restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. Good Breakfast: The breakfast offered a good variety and was a pleasant way to start the day.

Compact Rooms: The rooms are on the smaller side, which might be a consideration for some guests. Parking Can Be Tricky: While parking is available, the immediate lot can fill up. There's an additional covered parking area, but you might need to ask the staff for assistance to find it.

Close to train station and 5min walk to old town. Bed was very comfortable, and I enjoyed the extra pillow selection in the lobby. Lots of dimmers and switches to create custom lighting in the room. The decor in the room and hallway was soothing, looked like tatami mats! And of course, the rooftop spa was amazing. Even in snowfall, the open air tub and one person tub were comfortable. Also had onsen inside. Breakfast had limited Japanese choices, but were excellent. I had plenty of space in bathroom for my toiletries. Shower pressure was great. And hot water on demand was perfect. When I entered the room, front door would slam into bathroom door. Need to use provided doorstop to prevent bathroom door from swinging open

This is a nice new building, well designed, neat and tidy and well maintained. Everything is clean, it is close to the train station and around the corner from Takayama old town section. We arrived early and the hotel was able to store our bags on site. Takayama had a thick layer of snow when we were there in February, and the hotel was snug and warm inside. They have umbrellas at the door for guests to use, which kept us dry outside while it snowed. They do a great breakfast buffet, and there is an onsen on one of the higher floors.

The staff were not able to communicate well in English and we struggled trying to sort out breakfast, which we paid for on the day we arrived. Language was definitely a barrier.

Location and parking is good.

Room is too small and the high floor room is not much difference in terms of view or facilities. But have to pay more.

Location is strategic. Short walking distance to Takayama train station and Nohi bus station. Got 7-11 across the hotel so easy to find quick necessities. The room size is very adequate to cater to 2 people and we only use cabin luggage, so no issue at all. Our room is on the higher floor so got view. Amenities and pyjamas are provided. There's a public onsen on the top floor with a very nice view. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Excellent location and relatively spacious room with a good view to the city and mountains. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Clean as you’d expect for Japan.

Arrangement of the room was weird. A bed for 2 people was all the way to the wall, so only one person could get off from the side. Also on the internet when we made the reservation it did not mention that the “2 beds” are actually one bed and cannot be disconnected. It does say so in the hotel, but not on booking.com.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was great, close to the station and city center. The room was very nice. There is an option on the tv where you could see how busy it is in the public bath. Which is a nice touch. The public bath was clean and specious. With a wonderful view of the city with mountains in the background. I will definitely go back if I find myself in Takayama again in the future.

The hotel seems quite far from station when I checked google map but it is very near. Once exit from station, turn right and walk towards Koban, cross the road and walk a little and the hotel is there. The onsen is under-used and usually empty and so I had the whole place to myself. Breakfast is very good with mainly Japanese foods. There is a convenient store round the corner where I purchased mineral water.
