The staff / host (since it’s a ryokan) were courteous in welcoming us and explaining the relevant customs + tips. Well located on the main street, within very short walk to all of Kinosaki onsens, well equipped with umbrellas, water dispenser, at least my room has a smart toilet, fridge and AC/heater. For a small guesthouse, it is run very smoothly. Excellent meals, well presented.

The staffs promptly put away our futons before 8.30am on the day we were due to check out, while we were having a stroll outside. I wish they leave the futons until after we check out, as it was I felt they were rushing to check us out. Or at least let us have the chance to say we prefer having the futons. Also note that meals are served in a communal dining room, with a member of staff briefly introducing the dishes, watch the stove etc. The meal is not served in the room privately, which is fine with us but just different from our expectations.

We were seeking a traditional ryokan experience and this did not disappoint. It The ryokan is built with beautiful wood, screens and hardwood floors and tatami mats. The room we had was quite large with futons on the tatami mats and a small table. We were served a welcome tea and helped with how to wear the yukata properly. We really enjoyed wearing the yukata and wood sandals to go to the various Onsen in town, which are all located within one km of the ryokan. Tattoos are not a problem in Kinosaki. The highlight of our stay were the meals. The dinner kaseiki was incredible. Fresh crab, sashimi, assorted small dishes, soup, tempura etc and even a glass of sake. The second night was a beef hotpot. Breakfast was just as interesting with multiple courses and generous portions. The staff were very kind, and despite the language barrier helped us to understand the proper way to navigate the traditional ways. The ryokan is really a special experience and is great value when you consider the quality of the meals served.

Nothing. It was a great traditional experience.

Perfect place to stay to get the most out of KinosakiOnsen. Perfect location in the middle of town. Lovely hosts who were happy to help and share a laugh. English speaking host as well. Room was large. The dinner and breakfast are a must. We stayed 2 nights kaiseki one night and shabu shabu the other. Never seen so much food! Very good quality. Public Onsen pass included and the most stylish yukata in town. Make sure to wear this everywhere and get in the spirit. Highly recommend. Private toilet in the room.

Nothing but note there are some stairs. There is no shower in the room but there is a small onsite Onsen but you won’t need if you are visiting the local Onsen.

From check-in, we felt welcomed and taken care of at Tsukimotoya Ryokan. The staff were helpful at showing us to our room, how to prepare for the onsen, and serving us delicious meals for breakfast and dinner. It was our first stay at a ryokan, and it was fantastic. The room we booked was quite spacious, and the property is situated in the core of Kinosaki, making it easy to access all of the onsens. We loved our stay, it was so relaxing and the hospitality was amazing.

Nothing bad to say about Tsukimotoya and their staff. The only issue we had were some loud neighbours who partied quite late.

Great traditional Japanese meals. Very comfortable rooms. You’re provided a yukata and footwear from the moment you arrive so you immediately have something comfortable and fashionable to wear for the duration of your stay. You are also provided a pass for access to 7 different onsen in town so you have lots of options for relaxing in the springs. The staff were all wonderful. Very attentive at all points and very forgiving of us trying to stumble through the language barrier. The lady taking care of us also gifted us origami each day which we'll treasure.

Nothing. It was all good. If you wear a larger shoe (I’m a US16 mens) maybe bring a larger slipper for yourself to wear indoors.

The dinner and breakfast here were a wonderful experience - the lady who served and explained our food in the dining room was so attentive and helpful, and the food delicious without exception.

It was a shame that some of the onsen weren't open on the day we visited - but not the fault of the ryokkan of course. Some more information about the different onsen environments could have been helpful to maximise our use of time moving around

An exceptionall stay in a magical location! The Ryokan is totally in the heart of the town for all the onsen visits. We were greeted so graciously on arrival and the hospitality continued on this level throughout, with help how to navigate the yakuta and how to eat Japanese food when we where a bit stumped beyond what we already knew! The breakfasts and evening meals were amazing, a feast for the eyes and a real experience! A stay to remember for a lifetime. The hospitality was beautiful, thank you!

Absolutely nothing to say.

The traditional ryokan rooms were exceptionally spacious, especially compared to cramped hotel rooms in the cities. We absolutely loved the provided dinner as well, might have been the best meal we had in Japan! The location was also right in the middle of town, but down a very short alleyway so you don't have to hear the click clack of the wooden sandals on the street all night

Really nitpicking, but I prefer softer pillows

Not too far from the train station and it also gave a more traditional stay. The staff was so nice and helpful, they were very welcoming showing us how to put in a yukata pouring us tea and the breakfast and dinner was amazing and filling

Our room did not come with a shower but the property did have an it’s own onsen that you could shower and also relax in the onsen, or use one of the 7 onsens right outside the property.

The staff is extremely nice and helpful, the food was absolutely terrific, one staff member speaks very strong English which is great for foreign guests. The room we stayed in had a window directly to a cherry blossom tree. Very beautiful. This is an exceptional ryokan to experience.

There are small beetles that sneak into the building from somewhere, only some but important to know if you are scared of bugs. There is also a curfew to know about for if you are a night owl. I think this is common for the town though.
