Quiet and convenient location near to the public onsens and all the shops and restaurants. The town is small so nothing is far from anything. Our room was big and there was a flask of hot water and tea waiting when we arrived. We were warmly welcomed by the ladies who run the hotel (not grumpy as reported by some previous travellers). Nice little on-site onsen which was always accessible and I never saw anyone else in it on either of the times I used it. The ladies set up our futon bedding while we were out at the onsen late afternoon. Some travellers have complained that it’s a little plain and looking its age. That’s true but that is reflected in the price - it’s very affordable compared with others in town. Air purifier was not noisy. There was a massage chair in the room for free. Also a minibar fridge stocked with beer, sake, umeshu and non-alcoholic drinks at about the same prices you pay in bars outside. Yukata, towels (fresh ones daily) and geta provided for visiting the onsens as well as an access ticket valid from 3pm on day of check in to 3.30pm on last day of booking for visiting any of the public onsens.
Nothing to complain about. We had room 1 which was up 3 short flights of stairs. No problem for us but I think all the rooms were up at least one flight of stairs so not suitable for people with mobility issues.

Good location, close to Main Street and many bath houses. The hotel is well kept and loved the flower decorations, it gave off a nice smell of lily. Very traditional ryokan, they know how to serve and make the experience smooth. They provide a basic yukata to all guests. In the lobby there is a varied selection of more unique yukata and obi possible to pick from for free (only Japanese standard size). If u are a taller girl it was only 1 other option except for the regular one (it was still very beautiful). Food was good, it was 5000¥ for both dinner and breakfast (served in the room). Very fresh and tasty, we got very full. The onsen was clean and staff was very attentive and nice. Especially the hardworking young vietnamese girl^^
Some of the showers had a hard time keeping its warm water running and kept switching between cold and warm. Experience this all three days we stayed, in both baths. Also we experienced an uncomfortable encounter 1 hour before check-out. While we were getting dressed to check out, suddenly one of the cleaning ladies opened the door without knocking or any warning! I was standing in my bra and had to pull my pants up, very uncomfortable! She then proceeded to clean away the futons and left without apologizing..she was not Japanese and did not speak fluent. we ended up telling her that she can not do that and should warn guests before entering. On the other hand she should have waited to clean the room till after we had check-out, it was still 1 hour left.

Drove to the hotel's door, offload our luggage and the reception borrowed our car keys to drive our car to car park for parking. The car park is quite far from the hotel. Staff later returned the car keys to us. Check in is fast and we’re taken to our room to rest. Our stay plan included yumepa which is a 7-spa pass for onsen hopping. You can wear the yukata in your room and the slippers provided, to the onsens in town. Dinner is at 5.30pm, breakfast 7.30am. Meals are served in your room on low tables and us eating while sitting on floor chairs. Food is good and have a good spread of Japanese appetisers, mains, and dessert. They have staff who spoke some English. The hotel has its own onsen for both males and females. It's very small but usually not many people soaking in it. After checking out, one of the staff will drive us with our luggage to the car park, so that we can collect our car.

Staff were really friendly, even the lady/owner(?) I presume other reviewers complained about. She's just straightforward and to the point. It's kind of all about business here but they do make sure all your needs are met. The location is great ie. a small block off the main road and not too far from the station and all the onsens. The hotel has an old world charm and a great little onsen. The bed/futon is a little hard and so is the pillow otherwise a beautiful room with lovely Japanese decor touches, very clean. I loved staying here, so close to everything. Visited the onsen every day and sat in the free massage chair at the end of the day. The room was advertised as having mountain views but the only window it had opened to a small alleyway and another house 2 metres opposite so I had to keep it closed the entire time. This was the only downside. All in all a great stay.

Great dinner and breakfast provided. Staff was attentive and very helpful especially the young lady that was super hardworking. Onsen pass provided for the 7 onsens around the area. Our car was guided to the nearest car park and driven to pick upon when leaving. Area around was super beautiful during this cherry blossom period.
No open air onsen.

The ryokan is very well located and easily accessible from the train station. The room is spacious. You have the option to sleep on a futon or use the bed. The facilities are all clean and functional. During the night, it was nice and quiet. Info: They provide you with the onsen pass and everything for your onsen tour during check-in. If you arrive before check-in, you will need to pay for any onsen seperately and provide your own towels etc. So keep that in mind when planning arrival/departure to the town. Also, a lot of the onsen will only open in the afternoon.

I absolutely loved staying two nights at a traditional ryokan like Sinonomesou. It was amazing to experience an authentic Japanese stay, from the tatami room to wearing a yukata and enjoying the public bathhouses. The location is great, just a 10-minute walk from the train station and very close to many of the public onsens. The staff, while speaking limited English, were extremely patient and helpful. The meals were a highlight—dinner and breakfast were both fantastic! Experiencing authentic Japanese cuisine was a real treat, and dinner on the first night included a whole snow crab. One of the most special parts of the experience was eating seated on the floor at a small Japanese table (chabudai), which made the meals feel even more authentic. The food was very tasty, and they were very prompt with the meal times. The in-house onsen at Sinonomesou was also very nice, clean, and relaxing. It helped me prepare mentally for visiting the other onsens in town. One of the reasons I chose Kinosaki was because the onsens here are tattoo-friendly. While I don’t have any tattoos, my husband does, and he appreciated that he could visit the public bathhouses in town. However, please note that if you have any tattoos, you are not allowed to use the onsen at Sinonomesou itself. The room was spacious with large windows and fresh tatami, including a wash basin and toilet in the alcove. They provided free access to all the public bathhouses in town, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
Unfortunately, I forgot some jewellery after checking out, and my hotel in Kyoto kindly helped me call Sinonomesou to ask about it. However, they said they couldn’t find it, which was surprising since we called only three hours after leaving. I had high hopes that it would be found, given Japan’s reputation for honesty, but sadly it wasn’t.

WE LOVED LOVED LOVED Kinosaki - it is a very family friendly onsen town and the FOOD was wow!!! Our meals were served in room and there was a lot of food, it kept coming. We had to eat the kids meals too. We couldn't finish the rest and we felt it was a waste of good food. This is a traditional onsen stay with traditional Japanese meals. We stayed in a large room with tatami floors and futon beddings which will be prepared after dinner and put away after breakfast. Futons are not mattresses so if you need more support ask if they can double the futons for you. There was a toilet ensuite but the showers are onsen style and are shared and separated by gender. Location was central enough for us and there is an exceptional coffee shop around the corner called Drip and Drop. We were given a free pass to all 7 onsens in town and they are all within walking distance - don't miss the onsen with the waterfall and cavern. Before using the onsens familiarise yourself with onsen etiquette, onsens are all tattoo friendly. Overall, we were well looked after and a wonderful stay, our kids had fun watching the koi fish and they loved their very first onsen experience.
Pls note its not something we didn't like. This is more of a notice to people who will have a car. We drove a car. There was parking available however it is offsite. When we arrived we unloaded our luggage and the front desk helped carry them to our rooms which was on the 2nd floor. I then followed the staff who drove to the parking lot and I jumped back into their car to get back to the hotel. Upon check out the staff took all of us including our luggage to the parking lot. We only stayed 1 night and we didn't need to use the car during our stay.

Great hospitality, clean. Offered a selection of nice yukatas. Very nice staff.
Was not able to order breakfast contrary to Booking.com saying I could. Property did not respond when I inquired about booking dinner for one night of my stay. Some of the geta were worn down. Our room only had one chair at the table for two people.
