Staying at Morizuya was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. This cozy, family-run ryokan radiates warmth and hospitality. Manager Hachisuka and his family do everything they can to make you feel at home, and our stay truly exceeded expectations. The ryokan is charming and traditional. We stayed in a spacious, comfortable tatami room with beautiful décor and a view of a peaceful garden. The room included a private toilet and sink, while bathing is done in their private onsen (yes, private — no need to bathe with others if that makes you uncomfortable). Morizuya provides yukata for men and women, sandals, bags, towels, and an onsen pass for the town’s seven public baths. Women can also choose a kimono for going out around town and shopping, while men can (and should!) relax in their yukata for this same purpose. I especially want to highlight how Manager Hachisuka truly went above and beyond. He’s not only an excellent photographer — taking beautiful photos of my fiancée and me among the cherry blossoms and guiding us to great photo spots — but also incredibly kind and attentive. He personally helped us with our schedule and drove us to the station early in the morning to ensure we caught our train on time. That level of care is something we’ll never forget. If you’re unsure where to stay, I strongly recommend Morizuya. We left with beautiful and unforgettable memories of this warm and authentic experience in Kinosaki. A few quick tips about the bath: There are two onsen inside the inn. From 7 AM to 3 PM, they’re public (men/women separated). From 3 PM to 11 PM they become private — no reservation needed. If the door’s unlocked, it’s available. Go in, lock the door behind you and enjoy. You’re welcome to bathe with your family or partner. Be sure to shower and clean yourself before entering the bath. Walking around town in your yukata(or kimono) is part of the charm, so don’t be shy — it’s all part of the experience.

This family owned ryokan is charming and from the moment I arrived, the owner took incredible care of me. He let me store my bags there (arrived on a train pre-check out) so I could walk around town without dragging my luggage. Upon check in I was shown a cool 2nd story spacious room overlooking the colorful street lined with shops and good eats with a peek a boo view of the mountain. They whisk you to a kimono dressing room where you can pick your own kimono robe, tie and hair accessories (no other lodging offers this) and someone personally dresses you (ensuring you wrap it the right away and fits right). Then, the owner graciously to photograph you (with your own phone) in costume inside the ryokan and outside the town (made for some amazing photos). His mom even indulged me in a tea ceremony! The meal (dinner and breakfast) was brought to your room and delicious (multi course never ending meal- I was stuffed for two days after). If you are a solo female traveler or couple, stay here and no where else. It felt like being welcomed home after traveling straight for a month.

The owners and helpers go out of their way to make sure you get the full ryokan experience. The owner starts off by taking your pictures at check-in and also when checking out. The have yukata and getta shoes for you to use along with an assortment of kimono to wear. On-site are 2 onsen baths. One is an indoor cave setup. While the other an indoor & outdoor rock combo setup. Then you receive a pass to use at any of the 6 public onsens. Gosho-no-Yu (2 minute walk) is easily the best onsen with a view of the mountain trees with waterfall. Ko-no-Yu (8 minute walk) is second best with its outdoor mountain view and is less crowded. Morizuya is centrally located and has a unique vantage point with a view of the ropeway and a bridge over the river canal. The kaiseki dinner & breakfast were delicious with a lot of attention to taste & presentation. Also, the desserts were unique. They also had home made plum wine with a nice delicate taste compared to most plum wines which tend to be excessively sweet. After checking out the owner hand delivered our luggage at the train station so we could take one last stroll down the canal and street leading to the train station. I highly recommend this ryokan to maximize the Kinosaki Onsen experience.

Lovely traditional interior, staff were so friendly and accommodating. Everything was set up perfectly, breakfast was delicious and massive portion sizes. An amazing stress free trip to Kinosaki-onsen. You get robes to wear around the town to visit the different onsens, and a onsen pass is included. There were sandals and snow shoes to use, umbrellas, bags, towels etc - everything you could need - it was so well thought out. Close to the station, all the onsens and restaurants/shops/cafes. The owner even dropped our bags to the station for us as the roads were snowy. We would 100% reccomended everyone to stay here and have been telling our family and friends how wonderful it was. Thank you!

Extremely hospitable staff and owner! We were welcomed with a lovely Japanese tea ceremony. I was then able to choose a yukata to wear in the town. There are two onsen in the facility which we were able to use all to ourselves! Hachi San even accommodated my veganism with a delicious traditional breakfast in our room.

Charming traditional inn with atmosphere. Very helpful staff, warm and friendly service. Staff helped me carry up to the third floor my big suitcase, and provided car valet service for my rental car (parking lot is a distance away). Parking is free. They provide yukata dress up (which I didn’t use) and Onsen pass to the public baths in town (which I didn’t use); the weather was just too hot. Its own baths could be used on a private basis (first come first served) in the afternoon into the night. Location is convenient, shops and restaurants just a short walk away.

Wifi didn’t work for my phone in my room on the 3rd floor.

Exceptionnel stay among great owner and staff! I highly recommend this place Location is great and the room quite big enough for all the family In bonus, we had private onsen for just the 4 of us everyday with no extra charge and a private tea ceremony performed by the owner's mother. Fabulous experience thanks to Hachi San and his mother!

I just loved the place ! The owner and his family are very caring and of absolute service, making you feel as comfortable as you might be. The family house is very clean, my single room was very spacious and the futon so comfortable ! You are welcomed by the mother of the owner with a delightful tea ceremony, the best tea I have had so far ! You get a yukata, getas and all you would need to blend in the wonderful onsen town of Kinosakionsen, no need to rent. The extends the service to even propose to take souvenir pictures of you in the close by streets ! Even though I decided not to eat with the family in order to use my short time visiting in taking loads of pictures, they provided great advice for places to go (electric bike rental not so far, go and see the coast line) If you are still looking for a place to stay in Kinosakionsen, I recommend 200% Morizuya !!

Privately owned 3 hot springs are as good as nearby famous hot springs, walking along the town with free trial of kimono was the best experience of this trip. Owner and his staffs are very friendly, especially the lady who helped us choose kimonos and taught us how to wear them was very tasteful.

Great place to stay and experience kinosaki for the first time. Mr Hatchi and his staff were very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. They also did an amazing job at providing me with full vegetarian meals for breakfast and dinner, I was so Impressed by the quality (and quantity!! I didn’t miss out on anything being a veggie). The rooms are a good size and ours had a lovely seating area with a view over the Main Street. The 2 baths in the property were amazing and you could use them privately in the afternoon/evening (great for me as I was too shy to go to the public ones!). The tea ceremony was lovely when we arrived and I was helped into my Kimono. The location is fantastic and Mr Hatchi even helped us with luggage on departure. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Nothing we didn’t like at all but if you are shy like me, make sure to use the shower area in the evening when you can have it privately!
