This family run establishment is not rated as a 5-star hotel but definitely deserves a 5 star rating review. A very friendly, helpful and service oriented place to stay. They really did make you feel as if you were a part of the family. The son gave us many trust worthy tips and advices for the Petra sites (the Treasury, the Monastery, the tombs, the trails and etc…). Breakfast is always ready for the time that we specified. Since we stayed for 4 nights, the owner (father) invited us to their home for a family dinner. It gave us a peek into the typical life of a Jordanian family. We tasted traditional dishes and had desserts over tea and coffee. We chatted about life in Jordan and played a game with his grown up children. We are touched by their openness and kindness. Although, the accommodation is not up to the North American standards, the Over Mountains Hotel deserves a high rated review for its services and friendliness. We’ll recommend this hotel to our family and friends.

We stayed at the hotel for one night and were warmly welcomed right from the start. The host was incredibly friendly, showed us everything, and gave us great tips about the city. Our room was clean and nicely decorated, and we were lucky to have a balcony – the view during sunset was absolutely amzing Breakfast was more than we expected, with a variety of spreads and fresh breads that made for a perfect start to the day. All in all, it was a fantastic stay. We would definitely come back and highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

The owner, Ahmed is the best guy in town, super friendly and gentle; you can ask him everything and will give you helps and tips to visit Petra and the near area. The property location is very nice and near to all the shops and city center; they also have a private parking. The breakfast was very good, they would give you everything, from bread to eggs, juices of any kind, cheese, meat yogurt, hummus (and I could go on); perfect if you want to have a large breakfast and walk all day without stopping to eat; you could also have lunch made by them. The bed are very comfortable, the best in Jordan in my trip. The room are cleaned every day and you have all kind of complimentary things in the room (tea, coffee water fruit and A/C).

We can highly recommend this accommodation, especially because of the wonderful family of owners who will do everything for you. The whole hotel has a homely atmosphere, where they take care of you as if you were their own family. We were also pleased with the comfortable beds and the cleanliness of the hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much, Petra herself charmed us.

This hotel is a family run hotel, Ahmed is the perfect host and will take care of you in any possible way. It's winter and it was very cold in Petra and the owner gave me an extra heater which made my stay very comfortable. Breakfast was also very good. The location is up the hill so it's good to walk down, to go up it's a bit steep but a taxi will cost you 2-3 JD so it's not a big deal. Very nice staff that is always reachable through Whatsapp. We arrived before checkin and were able to leave our backpacks in the hotel and do the checkin in the evening after we visited Petra. The view from the balcony is very nice, especially in the morning. But since there is no railing or chairs we were only able to use the balcony for some photos. The location of the hotel is good for visitors with cars. You'll find plenty of parking possibilities and in the evening you can walk 10 minutes down to the city for dinner. If you don't have a car and are arriving to Petra Visitor Center by bus you should be aware that you can't walk to the hotel easily. It's a very long and steep way. You need to take a taxi which can be quite expensive if you have to go up and down many times. At the visitor center the taxi drivers will charge up to 10 JD which is way too much. It's better to get a taxi on the way which will cost around 5 JD or less, depending on your negotiations skills and the taxi driver. ;-)

Overall everything was as expected. The only thing that we were not aware of was that in order to use the shared bathroom in the morning we need to cross the kitchen and breakfast table. So it could happen that you have to use the toilet in the morning and have to pass other hotel guests who are already having breakfast.

A really perfect service from start to finish. Good contact with us and there was free parking outside the hotel. Our room was huge and spotlessly clean with tea and coffee making facilities, hot water and super comfortable beds. Perfect for a good night's sleep after/before exploring Petra. Breakfast was great too and supermarket very close A really great helpful staff. They even do a very good packed lunch for 5jd pp. I cannot recommend more highly Shukran

We are a family of 5 with 3 young children that recently stayed in the Over Mountain Hotel Petra and we had an excellent experience and highly recommend it. The place was very clean and quiet and the staff was very kind and welcoming. Ahmad, Hammam, and Ayman treated us with great hospitality throughout our stay and went out of their way to accommodate us. Ahmad spent time answering questions and giving tips on where to go and what to do while in Petra. Checking in and out of the place was very easy and we had no issues with the stay or the parking. A great breakfast with much variety was provided every morning starting at 0600, which was very convenient if you are an early riser. In addition, they gave some refreshments and fruits, which was a nice extra touch. In addition, the view was spectacular, both and the morning and evening. Overall, we really loved the place and hope to stay there the next time we visit Petra. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

We absolutely loved Over Mountains. It was a 2-4 minute walk to main centre and lots of restaurants. The host Ahmad was fantastic to give advice and communication was very good. Eamon who cooked us breakfast and cleaned the hotel was fantastic. The rooms were large and clean. The breakfast was the BEST we had, brown and white toast, fruits, cheese eggs etc etc etc. The hotel is on a hill but was only 3-5Jd from the visitor centre so it was ideal location as it was quite and the beds were so comfortable that we had great nights sleep. Would 100% recommend.

Over Mountains Hotel is in a great location with a beautiful view, especially at sunset. Although not on the main street of Petra’s entrance it was a perfect location for us and a very short drive to local restaurants. Upon arrival we were greeted with tea and biscuits and made to feel right at home. The accommodation is very clean, extremely comfortable beds, our room had air conditioning which meant we had a perfect room temperature. Breakfast was freshly prepared and plentiful and the offer of cooked eggs was a nice touch. Wi-Fi is available and a very fast connection. Fantastic accommodation whilst visiting Petra.

Bathroom is on the small side with the toilet poorly positioned. The bathroom room got quiet wet when the shower was in use so make sure you don’t take all your belongings in the bathroom when having a shower.
