I absolutely loved my 4-day stay at the Intercontinental Hotel in Cartagena. From the moment of arrival, the staff was professional, courteous and attentive to our needs. Firstly, the hotel is centrally located in the Bocagrande neighborhood along the beach and about a 10 minute taxi ride to the Walled City. Overall, the area is safe and there are many restaurants, cafes and shopping within close proximity to the hotel. But, tourists should beware of going to the beach across the street from the hotel because there are scammers who prey on foreigners. The hotel is beautiful featuring modern decor and amenities. The infinity pool is gorgeous too. I also really appreciated that the hotel's restaurant food is actually pretty good and very affordable. The hotel also offers 24-hour room service which was a huge plus! I will definitely stay at the Intercontinental again! It exceeded my expectations.

The only downside to our stay was there was a network issue with the Wifi for the majority of the stay. However, staff helped find a solution by offering access to their company's wifi so my friend could handle a Zoom conference call.

Well equipped and ventilated fitness room and super clean pool suitable also for decent swimming stands out! Breakfast was very good with different fruits or cakes every day as a nice change. Everything was working perfectly everywhere, staff very helpful and

Some rooms might have weird smell, recognizable only when arrived from outside. It felt like people smoked there a time ago. First room was ok, when we moved visited second which was not prepared and it was intense, in final room it was noticeable. The beach is nice and clean but there are way too many "amigos" selling you overpriced staff all the time. The sea is little dirty as every sea in big city. Nearby restaurants are super expensive, compared to normal colombian prices.

The variety of local food in the breakfast added a wonderful touch. We tried different fruits than otherwise we wouldn't. Great variety from eggs, omelette, and bakery. Definitely outstanding! The room was spacious and the bathroom was very comfortable for my family. Great view of the beach area! Finally, the pool has a gorgeous view, and there were plenty of seats for guests.

I wish there were a hose or something outside the hotel so that we could take the sand off our feet. Other than this, the rest was all great!

I loved the people and the attention given to us by the staff and even those outside the resort. The quality of food was very good and the overall atmosphere was very good. I speak little Spanish, but it does go a long way. I am in Colombia, not America, so I forced myself to learn the language with the help of Google Translate. However, the Colombia’s there made the effort to speak English and made the effort of going above and beyond. I will certainly visit IHG Intercontinental again with my family, as I have made many friends at the hotel with the staff. The staff were kind, but Incan understand why some visitors would call them “unfriendly”. Many tourists come from all over the country and I have seen how “some” Americans would speak to the staff and it really disappointed me. I have seen a lot of Europeans their, as well. Also speaking to the natives very harshly. Kindness goes a very long way, and it’s free. Sometimes, better than a tip. The staff there do things with kindness as I noticed. If you’re wondering to go or not, I’d say do it.

At the IHG, there’s a beach but it’s run by vendors that overwhelm you with items. It becomes bothersome after a while, but that’s how they make their money. Colombia, Cartagena is beautiful but you will notice poverty in some locations and even in front of the hotel. Like everywhere in most countries, but even though you see the poverty, you’ll see happy faces. I added pictures of some of the vendors grouping together trying to sell some merchandise on the beach.

The hotel was just superb! Very clean and the staff hospitable and very helpful especially the guys on street level helping translate to the taxi drivers. The pool area is beautiful. Room was beautiful and comfortable! Housekeeping did a great job every day. Location was perfect as well. Alot of good restaurants and shopping around it. All walking distance. Not a far drove from walled city. And I love the touchless elevator button!!!

I wish there was a fan in the bathroom. And could use more waiters in the pool area or have them more attentive. Had to wait and flag them down for a drink every time.

Breakfast was very good with a wide assortment of food to choose from. Pool was very nice and the staff very helpful and accommodating. Bathroom was very nice with separate room for the toilet.

Booked and ocean view room and the person who checked us in gave a city view room. We therefore did not have the view we expected. The next day we brought this to the attention of the front desk. The person at the desk after conferring with the manager offered two options: 1) change to an ocean view or 2) give us a daily credit to spend on food or other items at the hotel. Did not offer to refund the difference, however after I explained that was the only option acceptable, the person agreed to do this. This should have been one of the options offered. Concierge was never available. Other departments did not answer the phone, had to go through the operator. Twice had to request additional hangers for the room. Expected a higher level of service from the Intercontinental.

There was construction at the pool area. The hotel’s recommendation of the 5 Island Rosario Island tour (through Maple Leaf Tours) was a disaster. The tour company hosts that they have paired up with were extremely unprofessional. Our tour host, Miguel, was drunk & performed lewd acts with the girls on the boat. The boat operators were consuming alcohol in coffee cups & rode the boat so rough that I had to tell him to slow it down. This was not a peaceful island tour, it was a raunchy, loud, cheap & a degrading atmosphere.

The hotel has a great location, the staff are very friendly, and the rooms are very clean.

The mattress seems to have been used for a long time; it feels sloped and too soft to sleep on. The hotel’s promotional photos differ from the actual situation. Please clearly indicate which rooms face the sea and which ones face residential buildings.

the room was fine, comfy and spacious , pool area very pretty , it was windy so we never got in but very clean. breakfast was great . the staff is amazing especailly Erika from the dining area, nickname la mona was so nice and to us everyday ,asked hw we were and gave informtaion about places to go around the hotel. overal a great experience with al the staff in the intercontinental recommend 10/10

Staff members were very kind. The bedroom was comfortable and really clean. The beach is just across the street and didn't get too busy. Breakfast was good. Room service and cocktails were great. The location is good as well. There's a mall right next to the hotel, which was quite convenient, and there were always drivers in front of the hotel, which was great to get to the airport in time and for a reasonable fare.

They didn't have a cafe in the hotel, and they told us in the reception that we could have coffee in the restaurant. But, because it was Christmas, the restaurant was preparing for a special event and we couldn't have coffee there, which is understandable, but they shouldn't have pointed us there from the reception knowing that was the case. Room service is available 24/7, but after 10pm it wasn't possible to order cocktails because the bar was closed. The club lounge was nice and the food there was pretty good. But it's advertised as a quiet place to read and work. However, it gets pretty noisy at different times, with families with small children going there to eat. And the space itself seems like it's meant to eat, rather than read, work and relax.
