This is an excellent hotel to stay The One night and catch the train the following day. Fantastic breakfast. Good food menu, available until late. Good size room, with all the basic needs covered. Very comfortable bed. Staff were attentive and responsive (they provided new towels after our loose shower head went rogue and sprayed water all over our shower/bath towels).

The hotel seems to be made of papier-mâché. You can hear everything: hallways (people chatting), next room (people coughing, television), and above room (people walking around). The location next to busy roads also meant that there was traffic noise all the time, including at night. There was a very strong smell of cigarettes coming from a room that was on the way to our room, which suggests the no-smoking policy is either not enforced or non-enforceable.

Great location if you are taking a long distance train as the hotel is located right next to the train station. Check in was fast and staff was friendly and professional. The room was surprisingly large, well furnished and comfortable bed. This is a great value for money stay.

Given the hotel is located in the Chamartin train station, making connections to the Metro, Rail and Bus transit routes was very easy. The hotel was well insulated from any traffic noise. Once in the hotel one would not know they were in a train station as the windows faced the city. The hotel had a lot of space with a large restaurant area, plus lots of free tables and chairs outside the rooms where clients could work on their computers. The staff were very helpful. They answered my email inquiries and ensured that we got the bed types we requested. They also held a parcel delivery for us until we arrived. We would happily stay there again and probably will.

There is no coffee maker in the room, but there is a Starbucks machine down in the lobby. The breakfast is expensive compared to some other buffet breakfasts we have had in other Spanish hotels.

'Hotel Chamartin The One' is located immediately above Madrid Chamartin railway station. It is therefore very convenient if you have a train to catch and / or need rapid access to Madrid airport. The railway journey to the airport (Terminal 4) only takes fifteen minutes. It is also close to the main business district. I like this hotel because it is clean, the beds are comfortable and the staff are friendly. It is a good, functional hotel.

None of these are criticisms - just things to be aware of. The hotel can be quite noisy with people arriving late and leaving early. I always ask for a quiet room away from the lifts and the staff are obliging. There is also a nightclub close by which plays 'headache' music on Thursdays to Saturdays until the small hours of the following morning. Finally, the hotel is a long way from the main sites of Madrid; in some cases three or four miles on the metro.

No prices displayed in the bar !!!! One customer bought a whiskey liqueur which was cheap, because of this I ordered an ordinary type whiskey which turned out to be 2.5 times more expensive !!!! As a licensee (now retired) I was obliged by law in all outlets to display prices Large enough to be seen and read by customers from the other side of the bar, before ordering..... This worked extremely well and saved any embarrassment or feeling that you got ripped off!!!!

We stayed just one night as we were in transit. Arriving from an overseas flight we wanted a quiet comfortable place with AC to just sleep. The next day we had a train from Chamartin which couldn't be any closer! The room was big, bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean and had everything we needed. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a variety of choices which were good, coffee machine made a good cup of coffee. Staff in the restaurant were very friendly.

The room overall was quiet but we could hear people talking when they walked by our room, not a complaint just something that we noticed.

The location near the metro station

- when you call reception for ironing, they bring you the iron device and told you that you have only 30 minutes to return it back and put it by the door , this is ridiculous!! -they put only two small bottles of water in the room and when you need more they told us it will be not free and chargeable!! -the checkin time was 1:00pm as hotel policy When we arrived at 11:00am we requested early checkin they give us early check but charge us 50€ for 2 rooms although our rooms were empty.

For being in that part of town, the location is good and excellent being at the metro and station. Lovely spacious room that kept cool in very hot weather. I didn't try breakfast.

Lighting in the room is very poor so its difficult to work in the room. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and attentive. But, often there was a long wait and they were not very familiar with local travel issues (ie getting around the city and to the airport) - I think a little training on that would help.
