It is an hour from KL and therefore easily accessible, yet once inside the retreat, it’s a haven away from the city desert, heat and dusty glare. Quite lush with a river running through one side of it, this retreat is a necessary green lung that soothes and reminds you how essential our jungle—nature—is to our wellbeing. The chalet had everything we needed from a stove, crockery, cutlery, drinking water, fans, toiletries and mosquito coils to hot water in the shower(!) Nothing extravagant; instead perfectly simple and just what we needed. I felt it was well managed, and quite well thought out. The caretakers are responsive and never intrusive. The retreat is called Gibbon Retreat and I was relieved to hear some gibbons singing through the treetops in the morning. This despite some dismaying quarrying and destruction of a mountainside nearby. Last but not least, just to point out that while there are almost a dozen chalets (if I’m not mistaken) on the property, you feel you have privacy and your own space to just be.

If I were to suggest anything, it might be to freshen it up a bit here and there, with a fresh lick of paint on the walls of the chalet (I can only speak of the one we were in) and a tidy-up around the common areas. And an updated map of the route, chalets and common areas would be helpful too.

I like the natural location of the retreat, in a rainforest. It was nice and quiet and calm. The lodge was not luxurious but it had everything we needed for a stay there, all necessary cooking equipment was there and you just need to bring food there to cook, although the fridge was a mini fridge only so do not bring too much perishables. We knew that so brought mostly dried and canned food, etc. A hotpot was provided and an electric kettle... The resident dogs were very quiet and well trained although they did their work to "bark" at the monkeys who ventured to come near our lodge for food. The dogs never dared to enter the gates even when invited in, only sleeping at the doorsteps and they followed us whenever we walked out, maybe to guide us back if we ever get lost, it seemed. It was hot and humid in the afternoon but turned quite cooling and windy at night surprisingly.

There were some mosquitoes as expected but the lodging already prepared for us insecticides and mosquito coils which were very thoughtful. We had some insect nest growing outside our unit but the property helpers immediately came and helped us get rid of it once they were informed. Again, very helpful workers there... Thank you! A pity there was a quarry outside the forest area, but it was not noisy and was invisible to us. Only when entering and exiting did we see it. Hopefully, it will not expand and spoil this wonderful sanctuary. hope to come back again!

We were blown away the moment we saw the treehouse. It was amazing! Definitely, a bucket list place for nature lovers. It was spontaneous for us so we were unable to take cooking items. However, we managed to order and get the best food! It was well coordinated by the team. Both the caretakers were so nice and helpful. The dogs were the sweetest! We would go back again whenever we are in Malaysia. One of the most memorable experience we had there was waking up to Gibbon Monkeys.

We have enjoyed the services given. They were very patient with my enquiries and emergency that happened when we saw a snake at our chalet. The place is relaxing and we enjoyed the peace that came with it.

The peace and serenity in the woods. The chalet was comfy for our family of 2 adults and 1 toddler. Everything you need is provided, all you need to do is enjoy your time with your loved ones surrounded by nature. Caretakers were also very attentive and helpful. Would definitely return again soon!

Pet friendly place with clean room & toilet. Our chalet (Bentong View Chalet 2) is with a walk-up staircase & distance from others, so you will have a very private space. Highly recommended for pet owners to bring your furkids to enjoy the nature.

Suggest bringing a big cooler box to store your food as the mini fridge provided is not cold and has very limited storage.

It's very soothing staying here. Unfortunately it rained the whole night disrupting our plan to go hiking on trail. But we managed to see gibbons early in the morning which is a plus! A lot of friendly dogs especially if you have food. Also a plus, you can order grab food & frozen durians here. Caretakers & cleaners are friendly.

love the location and how close to nature it is! facilities are simple but clean, perfect to connect with nature and super peaceful. we managed to see the leaf monkeys (who are non invasive and prefer to keep away from humans) if you have a pet coming with you, do make sure they are able to be kind/get along with the local dogs! they’re sweet but defensive. would not advise bringing reactive dogs.

it gets hot because there’s no aircon during the hot season so would heavily advise wearing or bringing lighter clothing.

This is definitely a good place to go if you're seeking a quiet getaway with your loved ones. It is nestled in the middle of the jungle. You get your own privacy as each chalet is located far apart from each other. The place is pet friendly, staffs are friendly and helpful. Check-in and check-out procedures are simple. Basic cooking utensils are provided as well, you can make your own meals while staying there.

it's a great retreat for its convenient location so close to town. The area is not too big and the few chalets were built close to one another. But the private chalets did provide us some privacy. What's best is it has a 'manmade' rock pool just few stones away from the chalet. The entire place is very well maintained. Facilities provided were sufficient for a rather comfort stay consider it a retreat in the forest which is reasonably priced. Even mosquito coils and insect repelling candles were provided in the room. That is so considerate of the owner! (maybe because of that, we didnt have too many insect encounter which i did expect before coming here) What I love best is the private kitchen area at the chalet which comprise of a huge table, 2 fans, cooking utensils and washing detergents. We for sure had the best time preparing our food, cooking and grilling our food in the cool weather. We are lucky because it didn't rain during the stay yet the premise was so cooling that we didn't need a fan to sleep! I would definitely make a return with my other friends.

There is nothing I didn't like about the place! though...I kind of expected for some 'activities' there for example more places to walk around / a short hike in the forest (partly because i liked the place so much I wished to stay longer) A night of stay is just nice for what they offer now ( a rock pool and bbq common area for you to chill out with your company). If more activities are offered perhaps 2 or more nights would even be better. Just a thought/ suggestion and there is nothing i didn't like about the stay!
