The hotel is strategically located within walking distance of the city center. Despite the central location, the hotel maintains a quiet atmosphere that I found quite relaxing. The staff is nice and helpful. One thing worth highlighting is the bedding - it is comfortable and I slept much better here than at other hotels I've stayed at. The hotel looks newly renovated. The breakfast is delicious although it comes with limited choice; it covers the basic. There are many good restaurants near by, and Ewe Hai Street easily accessible on foot, so I never went hungry. The vintage-style room key was a charming detail that I appreciated.

As other guests have mentioned, the WiFi is really frustrating. I was staying on Level 1 and couldn't get a proper internet connection - both my laptop and phone kept showing "connected without internet access." The receptionist was really patient and tried to help me fix it, but we couldn't get it working. This was pretty disappointing since I was on a work trip and needed reliable internet. Definitely something the hotel needs to address.

Friendly, professional and helpful staff, clean, spacious and comfortable triple room, modern bathroom with good facilities, convenient location walkable to the riverfront area. Breakfast was delicious, but as there were few guests at the hotel during our stay, the buffet spread was smaller than expected, and the buffet was converted to an ala carte breakfast on our last morning.

The room doors operate with a traditional lock and key which were tricky to use. However, we managed to figure out how to not double-lock our door with help from the staff. There was a little mix-up with the ala carte breakfast where a member of my party was served a beef sausage despite stating she did not take beef, but otherwise the food and service were good.

Excellent! The staff were all incredibly friendly, I had interesting conversations with many of them. I came here after leaving a local hostel and this was the perfect respite. It is a historic hotel but was remodeled in the last few years, and they did a great job with the remodel. The bed was comfortable and the shower was the best I have had in Malaysia. It's a high pressure rain shower that genuinely does get hot (it takes a while, but this is true of pretty much everywhere in Borneo). The hotel is also perfectly located just a few minutes easy walking distance from town but away enough to have less noise. I actually intentionally booked an inside no window room because at the hostel I found window rooms facing the street in Kuching were very loud. I slept well and had a very refreshing stay.

Excellent location within walking distance to waterfront. Not a big hotel which means that front desk staff recognises hotel guests which is excellent for safety, imo. Room was basic, but clean and spacious. Despite it being without a window, the room did not feel claustrophobic. Kudos to the staff (Amy and Layla at the front desk), Mr Bong at the door and 2 others (sorry didn't get their names) for their excellent, friendly and helpful service. The restaurant staff were also polite and helpful. Little gestures like the fruit induced iced water at the hotel reception is much appreciated on a hot day :) Would stay again if I do visit Kuching.

Everyone from Bong Ah, Misman, and Aziz who always greeted you when leaving or arriving to Layla and Nur plus 2 gents at the front desk who were spot on for fulfilling every request to Audra the server were great. A wonderful group of young people working inside, anxious to please, on their way up the ladder. The food for breakfast was made to order whatever you wanted. The room was spacious and quiet. We had a street side room which was pleasant.

Stayed here 1 year ago. I like it. Good area. Good parking. Breakfast was good. I recommend this place. Easy to walk to the waterfront area. Good staff who gave us extra pillows and water. Many thanks

I try hard to think of something I didn't like.... Um... The refrigerator worked. But the door seal looked like it would not keep cold ... And my wife says there was no iron in the room. We had to think hard about what we didn't like though.

The Borneo hotel is a veteran in Kuching, now several decades in the business and nicely renovated during the pandemic. It's a competent mid-range option with a good central location - the waterfront and various sights are less than 15 minutes’ walk away.

A few niggles: the water in the showers was constantly lukewarm and letting it run for ages (as staff advised) made no difference. The Western-style cooked breakfast (eggs, toast etc) was greasy; staff clearly haven't been told to keep the oil content down when it reaches the plate. And despite recent renovation, the rooms still don't use a key card system so you must manually turn off appliances and lights before heading out, or else waste lots of electricity.

The staff were amazing, even making sure we had the coffee we said that we would need for an early flight. Lovely to have cold drinks freely available in the lobby. Location was super convenient, easy walking distance to the Water Front, its many shops and to many different style eateries. The room was comfortable and the toiletries provided of very high quality. Any house keeping issues were dealt with immediately. There was a bar if you needed a night cap.

The air conditioning in the bar and restaurant made it very cold ( true of a couple of other hotels we walked into in Kuching as well). The bar and restaurant were soulless. Breakfast was adequate, good that we were offered different things over our few days stay.

Fabulous hotel- all of the staff were lovely, kind and helpful. They have a nice bar area and a good restaurant! The room was great, very comfy bed and good shower. We both had great sleeps as you are undisturbed.

You only get 1 pillow each on the bed, this isn’t anything negative, it’s just a heads up if you like to have 2. I asked for extra pillows at reception and they were there before I even got to the room- fabulous service from staff!

It’s such a nice place to stay! Modern but classy with lots of local art and a special taste of interior. We loved how nice and friendly all the staff was, especially the young women at the reception. Her English is also very great and she had a lot of information for us. Everything is clean, worked properly and the location is perfect. Just a nice and short stroll away from the waterfront. The airport is located about 10-15min by car (depends on traffic). Restaurant and breakfast is good. We can totally recommend this place and we’re a bit sad that we only got to stay one night.

After showering the whole bathroom was a bit wet and there wasn’t a lot of options for breakfast if you’re not used to eat Asian cuisine in the morning. Other than that everything is fine.
