Kailash Boutique Hotel is right in the heart of China Town in Thamel. I'd recommend this property for anyone who wants to be in walking distance of many of the main attractions of Kathmandu, while still retaining Western comforts like running hot water, a waterfall shower, a hair dryer, high speed wifi, multiple charging ports, and an elevator to reach higher levels. Because I booked within 24 hours of when I would need to leave, an airport shuttle was not available for my 5:30 AM departure. Even so, the desk staff was very helpful in providing me with a small takeaway breakfast (a banana, muffin, hard boiled egg, and juice) and ordering me a taxi from inDrive, the local Uber.

Typical of many hotels in Kathmandu - noise is inevitable. I was on the fourth floor and protected from most street noise, but could hear the fellow guests on my floor slam their doors and speak at the top of their lungs. I finally asked the guests to please be mindful, which they did. Upon explaining the situation to reception in the morning, they also informed me that I could have called them and they would have helped.

I had one of the best hotel stays of my life at Kailash. The rooms were spacious, aesthetically pleasing, impeccably clean, and exceptionally comfortable for a prolonged stay like ours (10 days on a business trip). The breakfast was delicious and diverse, as was the hotel’s restaurant — which I highly recommend you try! But what truly made this stay exceptional was the staff. The kindness and attentiveness of the team at Kailash were unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. They consistently anticipated our needs and provided whatever resources we required. For example, one morning, we were too tired to wake up and overslept through breakfast. The staff thoughtfully called to let us know they were waiting for us to come and enjoy our meal — a gesture that truly amazed me. Special thanks to Dol, the manager, who ensured everything ran smoothly. I give my stay a 10/10, and the next time I’m in Kathmandu, I will definitely stay here again!

A freshly renovated, beautifully appointed, clean and spacious hotel, with very, very helpful and kind staff! I enjoyed every bit of my six-day stay there and would highly recommend it to everyone looking for a bit of comfort and friendly atmosphere whilst exploring Kathmandu. The manager kindly provided an upgrade (a family room with a balcony) and was on hand for a range of useful tips and suggestions. Everyone here is so professional and knowledgeable. The location, right in the heart of Thamel but not loud or busy at all, is great, too. Would certainly come again!

it is a new hotel and you will find everything you need for a reasonable price very clean very nice and competent service high level of hygiene very delicious dishes in the restaurant rich breakfasts the manager will arrange trekking and various trips for you they will arrange a taxi or tickets for you If you need anything, ask and they will definitely help you very nice, cozy and family-like we felt really taken care of I recommend it we will definitely return to this hotel :)

We stayed at Kailash Boutique Hotel for 6 nights and had a great experience. The location is quiet but close to Thamel, which was perfect for us. The staff was friendly, helpful, and always available. The room was clean, spacious, and well-maintained. Service was excellent throughout our stay. Breakfast is served at the property—great buffet with good variety. Very good value for a 3-star hotel. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kathmandu!

The roads leading to the hotel are quite narrow, which can be a bit tricky for larger vehicles like a minibus. However, with some care and patience, our driver was able to handle it without any issues. It’s a small price to pay for such a quiet and central location.

We stayed at Kailash Boutique Hotel between January 18-26, 2025. First of all, I would like to state that the location of the hotel is very central. It is in the center of Thamel, a few steps away from very nice restaurants and shops. The street where the hotel is located is very quiet and calm. The hotel was brand new, spotlessly clean and safe. We felt at home. Upon our request, they upgraded us to a large family room with a view on the upper floors. Our room was cleaned every day, our water, tea and coffee, bed linen and towels were changed. The wifi never went out, we connected easily. There was hot water in the bathroom 24/7. The WC and bathroom were incredibly clean. Every morning, we had a very nice breakfast that included both traditional Nepalese dishes and all the elements of a western style breakfast. The young staff at the restaurant were extremely polite and attentive. They served us Masala Tea and Masala Omelette every morning. We are grateful to them. I would like to thank them very much for their friendliness. From the moment we entered the hotel, Manager Dol took great care of us. He arranged a free taxi from the airport to the hotel upon our arrival. On our return, he saw us off to the door and gave my wife and I two very valuable traditional Nepalese gifts. I would like to thank Dol, our friends at the restaurant and all the other Kailash Boutique Hotel staff. We really felt at home for 8 days. Kailash Boutique Hotel exceeded my expectations! The room was impeccably clean and beautifully designed, blending traditional Nepali aesthetics with modern comfort. The staff was incredibly warm, attentive, and always eager to assist with a smile. The location was perfect—peaceful yet conveniently close to all major attractions. The breakfast served was delicious, with a great variety of options. I truly felt pampered during my stay.

There’s not much to dislike, but I would have appreciated a more extensive dinner menu. That said, the nearby dining options more than made up for it.

It is located at a small lane off the main road so we enjoyed best of both world; convenience & quietness. Plenty of restaurants, money changers & souvenir shops nearby. Easy to get a taxi by the main road. Not only they provide bottled drinking water in the room, they gave the big one & replenished everyday. Even though breakfast is served from 7am, we were given a packed breakfast in a box on the day we went to view sunrise at Nagarkot. Staff are very friendly & helpful

There is no shower head in the bathroom; only a rain shower coming from the ceiling so a shower cap is always required for showers without washing hair
