Nice spacious room with a good bed and good shower. Kept very clean and in a cosy old building.

Lots of noise from my neighbour during the first night, who decided to talk super loud on the phone around 1-2am but this isn't the hotel's fault and they do provide earplugs. My key card wasn't working when I arrived at 1am standing in the cold and rain, but luckily the night guard could be contacted by phone and sorted this out, so not really a complaint as it was sorted. The checkout time of 10:30am felt a bit early.

I am very satisfied with my stay, the hostel is very well located, close to the bus stop, the central square and several good cafes and restaurants. The bathroom and shower are inside the room. The reception and service staff are extremely kind and helpful. I was late arriving and checking in, but it was resolved without any problems. I checked out before breakfast and they prepared me a kit to take on the trip. I will definitely stay again, I had nice days in Alkmaar.

The rooms are located around the common area, which is not a problem when guests respect silence after 10pm. A little noise at night, because not everyone has this common sense sometimes, but nothing that bothered me too much.

the location was perfect! I could walk to any place I wanted to see or visit. The room was quiet nice, it was larger than I expected actually.

The only issue would be the thin walls, I could kind of hear anyone walking outside my room or taking the stairs and that would wake me up a couple of times at night. BUT I know its an older building so that was understandable.

Enjoyed the location and communal space in the centre for eating food and chilling out.

Didn't enjoy the lack of kitchen - it may be on written on the booking site, but I was surprised. There was a kettle and nothing else. The room was also not very well ventilated, which when it is warm or you have room mates you don't know or it is damp - there are smells that don't go away and it was unpleasant.

Amazing location, lovely staff, simple rooms but very clean, tasty breakfast. Staff made a packed breakfast for us on our last day, when we had to leave early. Really appreciated!

The rooms in the hostel are basic. If you need soft beds, want TV in your room, or struggle with little bit of noise or light at night this isn't for you. For my teenage son and me it was perfect.

Cons: Squeaky beds Refrigerator not enough to number of guests staying.(Had small refrigerator)

The location was great and I really liked that our room had a private bathroom. The hostel itself looked nice as well, and I appreciate the small kitchenette.

I knew that I reserved a mixed dormitory, but I didn't appreciate, that they put me as the only female in a room full of men. There were obviously no problems, but I did sleep with my self-defence gasspray under my pillow.

Perfectly situated, nice and clean. The guy at reception was actually sort of dry, but reminded me of a grumpy jet engine mechanic from Youtube and solved all requests, so 10/10 for efficiency and personality. Excellent breakfast.

We only had small towels in room. Shower towels would have been good to have.

Definitely liked the vibe, the design of the place, comfort of the rooms, and the games in the common space

The rooms were a bit of a oven, there's little to no aeration, and unfortunately we did see a couple of mice in the common space

Beds in the dorms are of good length, I am 1.90m and easily fit, so great. Nice relaxing communal area and great restaurant as part of the property. Right in the centre of Alkmaar and of short walking distance of many fun bars

After few days I started feeling the iron bars below the matras. And you need a bit of good luck with the roommates so that it does not smell like drugs/weed in the room.
