I checked all the boxes above because the hotel is set back enough to be quiet, but in the heart of things enough to be lively. A very central location in the Jordaan, an upscale, historic neighborhood in Amsterdam where tourists love to shop and eat, but locals live there too. It was magical.

The first room that I was assigned was without a suitable table and chair to work on a computer, plus it was very dark with a window that opened to a wall. But the staff responded quickly, and I was moved to a lovely room on the top floor with a view of the neighborhood and an adequate work space. Beyond that, everything was superb.

We travelled from Australia and did not know what to expect as it was our first time in Amsterdam. The hotel was tucked away in a quite area and close to restaurants and cafes. The location although not in the heart of town got us walking which we enjoyed meandering through the various streets and over cannels. The room we had was idea as we were there for four days and each day it was cleaned, although we were not in the room a great deal. Staff were great always there to help if needed.

Nothing to really complain about, we required some extra clothes hangers which were delivered to our room.

The hotel decor was really beautiful and the design features were very well chosen. The location of the hotel was very close to a lot of tourist attractions and easily accessible. It was very quiet at night and felt very safe. The hotel staff were extremely kind, welcoming and accommodating to all our needs during our stay. We left our bags at reception as we arrived in the morning and while we were out they had put our suitcases in the room for us once the room was prepared which was very kind. We did not avail of breakfast but the bar was lovely and again the staff were very helpful. Our room was very nice, had everything we needed but was compact. Though we had a small, brief issue with our room during the stay the management staff dealt with everything very well and were extremely helpful and accommodating. I would recommend a stay at Hotel Mercier if you wanted to have a more quiet and peaceful stay in the Jordan area of Amsterdam with a warm welcome.

The room was a bit compact and lacked some room for storage but it was fine for our short visit. A refrigerator would have been nice to keep water cold.

We loved the whole unique vibe of the hotel with the vintage art, decor, cool items and art dotted around… Our room was also unique and lovely. It was in the original building (bear in mind some rooms are in a modern annex). We didn’t have breakfast, and the restaurant appeared to be vegan, but the bar area itself was stunning! Although not directly on the canal it is a great location in Jordaan. Walkable to everywhere. It’s also very quiet at night. We can recommend “Box Social” Cafe nearby on Jordaan for brunch. Overall would totally recommend for a short stay in Amsterdam and would definitely come back.

Nothing!

Location, room

Hotel claims to have 24 hours concierge but the staff isn't available at the reception at all times. Room cards don't work at hotel's entrance so we had to ring door bell everytime we enter the hotel. At night we rang the door bell multiple times and wait outside for more than 10 minutes. At the end I called the hotel (The phone number at Booking.com leads to an automated message of multiple hotels and I had to navigate in a menu) and wait for more for night staff to arrive. It wasn't a pleasent experience. The rooms cards should open the general doors and guests shouldn't wait for staff to open the doors.

Great location, perfect for every aspect of our stay. Breakfast is delicious and chef Leandro, when he's there, makes the most amazing omelettes. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere and quirky interior design accents, which is right up our alley. The bar is well stocked and the staff super friendly & helpful.

The room, although commanding a view on the Westerkerk, was very small despite the fact that is was a "De Luxe Room". Our major gripe (and that goes for all the rooms in the hotel, irrespective of size) is that there is no space at all to hang or store clothes or items. Seemingly, a guest is expected to stay for 1 or 2 nights at the most. At some point we stayed for 5 nights and had to rely on our creativity to find a place for our belongings. A hook or two on the door would have been helpful to at least keep our coats out of the way!

We upgraded to a deluxe room and appreciated the extra space. The appearance of the hotel and room was very stylish and welcoming. We loved the quiet location in amongst the canals, yet close to sights etc. A supermarket was 2 minutes walk away.

As a security measure we had to ring and wait for a staff member to open the front door every time we returned to the hotel. We didn't feel this was necessary given the location etc. and this was a hassle for both us and the staff.

The hotel is lovely and has lots of quirky art and decor. Staff are attentive and helpful. The room we stayed in was spacious and well laid out, plenty of storage for clothes and had a kettle/coffee maker. The hotel is pretty quiet with little road traffic noise, however noise does carry from folks coming in late or walking across the floors in the surrounding rooms (please be mindful of other guests if you come back late!). The location is away from the very touristy part but has lots of cute cafes and restaurants nearby.

Very very clean room. Heated bathroom floor was great. Water was nice and hot with great shower head. Beds were comfortable. No door between shower area and bedroom but we made it work. Staff was friendly and welcoming. A very pretty hotel in an excellent location. Away from the loud hustle and bustle of the cities center but close enough to walk to many points of interest. I would definitely stay here again!

I can’t say there was anything I didn’t like.
