We enjoyed our stay at the Stanley Collection Hotel so much! The staff was wonderful - so kind and accommodating. The hotel's location couldn't be any better. Everything was within walking distance - shopping, museums, train connections, and loads of restaurants. The rooms were small, but so smartly designed that they all worked well. We had a room for 3, and we didn't have any trouble finding space for each of our bags. The beds were very comfortable! Also, when I booked this hotel, there were lots of comments about the stairs. Yes, the stairs are very steep due to the historic nature of the building, but we thought they were charming and kind of fun. :) I will say that if you have large luggage, it's going to be a struggle, not impossible, just a little more difficult. We had backpacks, so it was easy to manage. If you are looking for a quaint hotel in a good location that embodies the history and essence of this historic city, this is your place. I highly recommend!

We loved it all!

We really liked the hotel’s location! The street where the hotel was situated was quiet and safe, and the canal views were a great bonus. There was a large grocery store and several cafés right nearby, and all the city center attractions were just a few minutes’ walk away, with public transport stops also easily accessible. The room was just the right size, and everything went very smoothly with the hotel staff.

The room was really hot, and even though we turned off the radiators, it didn’t seem to help. The hotel’s staircase was also very steep, but we were aware of this in advance – it’s just something to keep in mind, especially if you’re traveling with large suitcases.

We spent a little bit more money and got a canal view room! Was beautiful and such a lovely addition to our already amazing trip. Room was perfect for 2 people for a couple of nights. Relatively clean and we managed to get into our room a little earlier than expected, which was a bonus. Staff were excellent, friendly and so accommodating. There was a lady who checked us in but I didn’t get her name - she was lovely and friendly. Also Paulo who gave us an excellent restaurant recommendation which we haven’t stopped talking about! The location of the property is perfect, if you are not as interested in the slightly seedier side of Amsterdam (which we weren’t!). Located in the beautiful 9 streets area, which has an abundance of cute vintage shops, little boutiques and restaurants and lots of canal bridges for the Instagram worthy pictures. We absolutely loved it here and spent the majority of the time wandering around the shops and stopping for pancakes or stroopwafels (we recommend PANCAKES and Lanskroom - I literally cannot stop thinking about the Lanskroom stroopwafels!) We saw lots of complaints in the reviews before our stay about the stairs in the hotel. Yes, they are steep…you are staying in (possibly) a 17th century canal house! You might walk up/down the stairs a handful of times during your stay. If you take your time, you’ll be fine!!! Also, we saw complaints about the rooms being cold - this was not an issue for us either! Room was lovely and warm!

We wished there were tea and coffee facilities in the room - I would have loved to have a warm cup of tea after I came in from the cold on a night. Although there are facilities in the reception, they are turned off on a night around 8pm I believe. I think this is for noise, but just a kettle in the room would have been perfect! You could hear some slight noise from the street - the windows are single pane and so could hear everything from peoples footsteps walking past, to bikes etc. HOWEVER! We were so tired that this didn’t bother us during the night at all, and the street the hotel is on is relatively quiet anyway. This wouldn’t stop us from staying again and I imagine this wouldn’t be an issue if you weren’t to stay in one of the canal view rooms.

I really love Amstedam and its charm of historical buildings, Canals , beeing in the city center and sleep with a Canal view. All these things I found in hotel Stanley Collection Hotel Hegra Amsterdam. Amazing location, everything walking distance, just in front of the main Canal and I was lucky I had a view on the Canal as well. I should say that hotel is historical building that was recently renovated, new showers and very nice bedroom, great amenities and very comfortable bed to sleep. The reception was so friendly, knowledgable and professional. Recently I understood they created their own guide of Stanley for local hidden places of bars, street food , restaurants, attractions and reception provided me with this info via QR code for google map. All worked great. My next stay I will book only here . It worth every euro I paid.

I recently stayed at Hotel Hegra Amsterdam and had a lovely experience. The hotel is very cozy, which made me feel right at home. The room I stayed in was perfect, it had everything I needed and was really well-kept. What I loved most was the location—it's right on one of Amsterdam's beautiful canals, so you get that classic Amsterdam vibe as soon as you step outside. Plus, it’s within walking distance to a lot of great spots in the city. Overall, it was a really pleasant stay, and I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a comfortable, authentic experience in Amsterdam.

I liked the location, and the clean, warm atmosphere. The staff at the reception area, Paulo and the other gentleman was a GOD send. They were very kind and understanding of my recent injury, that made it difficult to navigate stairs. They were extremely accommodating and knew their craft very well. They had great knowledge of the city and the surrounding area. I appreciate friendly staff who love what they do and are exceptional at it.

It did not have a lift. Only because I had prior injury that made it difficult for me to climb stairs. Otherwise the stairs were cute and the climb would have been a good source of exercise.

Loved the location and the staff. The beds were comfortable. Our room was on the 4th floor and as with most small accomodation in Amsterdam, there was no lift. The stairs are very very steep, almost ladders which is fun but would not suit anyone who wasn’t able to climb up and down. And is not good for anyone with a bag bigger than a carry on bag. And the bathroom is tiny but has everything you need. But we did enjoy our stay.

There was black mould in the ceiling corners of the room.

The location is fantastic in the canal district of Amsterdam. We had a 4th floor room for three people which was nicely decorated, with comfortable beds and good amenities. The bathroom was small but actually was fine and well laid out.

When I read previous reviews that the stairs were steep, it didn’t prepare us for how incredibly steep they were. Think nearly ladder steep getting to the 3rd and 4th floors. We had my 84 year old mother with us and she is very mobile and well but if she had not been it would have been impossible.

This was an experience, not a usual hotel stay. This is a 400 year old building and therefore unique. It was charming and within walking distance to everything and right on the canal. The gentlemen who work there are extremely pleasant and helpful and ready with an umbrella! Coffee, water and juice were available.

Due to it's age there was no elevator and the steps were very, very steep and curved and we were on the top floor. I compared it to being in a tree house and the bathroom size like being in a boat. I was not prepared for this but in looking back the information was on the booking confirmation that I printed. I did not look carefully and I presume that information was online and I didn't see it. Fortunately we were able to manage but you thought twice about going in and out. There was no restaurant but there were places to eat nearby and they provided that information in a folder in your room.

From the moment of arrival, the staff at Hegra exceeded expectations with their warm hospitality and attention to detail. Since it was my first time in Amsterdam, they explained the city well and told me how to get to all the attractions. They also recommended several places to me, they even had a book in the room where I could find nice places to eat. As I came on Easter, they had made chocolate eggs for me, which was very sweet of the staff. They also brought my luggage upstairs with a robe, something I have never seen before. All in all it was such a nice stay, I felt like in an Amsterdam movie, while watching people next to the canal. I enjoyed the stay 100%.
