It is ON the canal. We could see the canal from our bed! The staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved staying here, in the absolute center of the city! So close to shopping and places for canal tours and canal boat rentals. And the restaurants!

There was nothing we didn’t like. However, we enjoy a laid-back experience and can deal with happy noise. More electrical outlets would be useful. People should be aware that there is a student orientation in the second week of August so the town fills with joyful young people.

Although booking a single, I had a sizeable room (twin bedded with a couple of bunk beds) that overlooked the canal. A traditional building with character. Only about 15mins walk to station, no problem for me with my luggage. In fact being pretty central, the majority of things within the original moated city is within 15min walk. Almost adjacent to one of the places from which can take a circular canal cruise. Ability to leave baggage prior to check-in and after check-out.

Thought the breakfast was a bit pricey; had originally booked room only and I might have been wiser to keep to that decision. Possibly partially influenced by me wanting to lose weight and cut down on carbohydrates; I was tempted by some of the very good warm bread, but I would have appreciated some salad (lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes etc.) to have gone with the scrambled egg rather than processed meats and cheeses, muesli and nuts rather than granola.

This is a charming hotel right in the centre of Leiden and well situated for sightseeing. It’s not a modern hotel and is full of Dutch charm in the decor and furniture. We loved it. Our room was great and although maybe a little tired, it was perfect. Good hot shower, comfy bed, good WiFi and plenty of room. We did get breakfast and there was a good choice of continental style food, and some hot food. The pancakes were great! The staff were lovely and friendly and very helpful. The lady on reception told us we could get discount on the parking by paying through them. There is also a shuttle bus from the car park to the hotel although it’s only a short walk. We enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is located conveniently in the centre of Leiden. Train station and all highlights are located within about 10 minute walk. The staff is superb, extremely friendly and helpful. Unlike a lot of other properties in Leiden that are available on Booking.com this one actually has someone at the desk 24/7. The breakfast is quite extensive with fresh bread and croissants, fresh fruit, yoghurt, coffee, tea: everything to start a good working or vacation day. I also appreciated the water boiler with a selection of teas and a comfortable desk and chair.

Out of the control of the hotel is the fact that there are terraces nearby, so the sound coming from outside is accordingly on a nice spring evening. Though the building is old, clear effort was made to insulate the windows. In the end, it was nothing that a pair of earplugs could not solve. Rooms in the back would surely have been quieter as well. Wifi was a bit slow, but nothing serious.

The location was great for the cafes and shops around. A little far from railway station if dragging bags. No lift / should be advertised Plus no offer to lift bags up to room, bit hard when you are in your own with spinal issues. Plus very pricey for rooms with no view. Photos show a beautiful view but the one i was in had no view at all. Otherwise a nice clean comfortable stay.

Loved everything. It was a lovely spacious clean room with a superb veiw of the canal. It was in a perfect location. We only had to walk out of the door and we were in the middle of all of the sights and activity of leiden. Breakfast was lovely too. Also the overall look and furnishings of the reception was lovely.

It could be a little noisey at night but this was a small price to pay for been in such a busy location close to all the restraunts. However leiden was probably a lot busier than usual due to the hot weather and time of year so noise is to be expected. I always take earplugs when going away so it wasnt too much of a problem.

Staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a good trip, including offering breakfast earlier one morning. The rooms were a good size, recommend booking rooms with a view of the canal. Location was convenient, about a ten minute walk to train station and lots of options for food and drink very close by.

Slightly dated rooms, and non-canal facing room backed onto stair way so no view. Rooms were the same price for view/no view

The hotel is centrally located, close to all the shops and restaurants. The breakfast buffet is quite enjoyable as well. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. We are a large family and in Leiden for our niece's graduation. We booked four rooms, and everyone was pleased.

15 minutes walk to train station especially when there are no taxis and it’s pouring rain.

Pro - excellent location, very helpful staff, spacious room, very comfortable bed. Overall, it's a charming, canal-side hotel near to bars and restaurants and close to the main shopping streets. The train and bus stations are a short, 10 minute walk away. The number 854 bus goes direct to the Keukenhof gardens (book both in advance!). Near the hotel is the wonderful Hortus Botanicus botanical garden.

Con - our room was on second floor up two flights of stairs (no lift), room was a bit spartan, and view is only of fire escapes in a rear lightwell. There are very few hotels in the heart of this bustling University town.

The bedroom was clean, the location was excellent & the staff friendly and helpful from start to finish.

The noise from the window was incredibly loud and disturbed mine and my friend sleep on both nights. I was also disappointed that the Body wash and shampoo were all in one… for the price of the hotel I would have expected more I think! As an aside - the company we ordered a taxi with (recommended by the hotel) did not come through! Brought this up to staff and they were helpful and understanding…
