Great staff, good location, nice rooms, nice breakfast, comfortable bed, would stay again - however please see my 'what didn't you like?'

We were told on arrival that our window blind was broken and wouldn't open - not the end of the world but a little annoying. The shower got no more than tepid, again, not a disaster, but an irritation. The bathroom affords very little privacy and the door and shower door cannot be closed quietly as they operate on what I assume is a magnetic system and bang every time you close them. Very noisy outside (obviously not the hotels fault). Would imagine the rooms will be extremely warm in the summer.

The hotel was small,(only 18 rooms), spotless and very comfortable in lovely surroundings beside the canal .Staff were very friendly , Breakfast was excellant , well presented and plenty of it. Lovely sitting area outside beside the canal for drinks/coffee .

windows didn't open as was on the ground floor , and being originally the Guard House of the Barracks they seemed to be the original windows.Dont know if had air-conditioning as we were there in April .Unfortunately didn't have restaurant for evening meals , but plenty out and around the area , with 2 being behind the hotel.

Interesting minimalist industrial mode, in keeping with the building's original function as a barracks. Metallic stairs. Open freestanding Bath in bedroom . Beams. The staff in the downstairs cafe ( original barracks mess) were excellent.

We agreed the room could be cleaned every other day in exchange for a drink voucher. We were there for three nights. The bins were changed only once with no extra attention. Cleaning regime could be tightened up. Design wise, a ladder for clothes storage is not sufficient ( no bathroom hooks or closet drawers only an open hanger stand). It looked great but was not practical.

The staff are outstanding - super friendly and very helpful. The room is a great size and laid out well. Beds were nice and comfy. An easy location to explore Leiden.

For the price of the room I would have liked to have at least a light breakfast included (coffe and croissant?). Although there are lovely big windows, the room lighting isn’t very bright for older eyes. A secure bike storage was not available at the premises so we had to park our bikes at the train station; this was fine but we would have preferred to have a secure place at the property.

The location of the hotel is fantastic (close to city centre and railway station. T). All the staff we fantastic, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is fantastic, great value for money, tasty and well presented. The room was comfortable The bed was comfortable and i slept well

The room could have had a little more storage. (drawers, chairs place) as it was difficult to fully unpack.

It is a lovely hotel and in a perfect location. The room is a good size and the radiators work properly so you adjust them if you need to. Breakfast is plentiful and the staff are very helpful.

I have already made this comment last year - while the breakfast is well put together and plentiful - you basically get a small buffet selection to yourself on a board - the bread is below par. It does not match everything else and it is a really pity. There must be a better bread supplier to be found....

Beautifully renovated old barracks, next to a little park with a windmill and Rembrandt statue, the Morschpoort and the canal. Very centrally located close to the railway station and downtown. The staff were wonderful. Breakfast was delicious. Relaxed welcoming atmosphere.

The room lacked a fridge and Airconditioning. It was noisy until midnight with the windows open. No elevator, but the staff kindly helped us carry our bags upstairs.

This hotel is very clean and inviting. The hotel is close to the train station (six minute walk) but also very close to all the sites in town. This close access to the train station was great being able to travel quickly around the country. The hotel is an old army barracks and sits in a small park. We had a lovely windmill out our window. Loved watching families and children play and enjoy the spring. The staff here are super friendly and helpful. They make you feel at home and are knowledgeable and proud of their great town.

No Air conditioning in the room. I stayed for 2 nights and unfortunately (?) those were really hot day..! I understand that it’s rare to have those hot days in the Netherlands but it was pretty hot and stuffy in the room so it was a bit hard to stay and had to go outside to get fresh air. Window only opens a little bit and since I was staying on the first floor close to restaurant, I didn’t feel comfortable opening curtains especially when bathing. AC would’ve been really nice! Also, there was no TV remote.

Interesting property - great location. We faced the canal. My daughter’s room on the ground level faced a brick wall. So that was not so nice.

No elevator but they helped with the bags. No clear communication when you arrived on where to pull in and unload the bags. Entrance is around the corner but no signage on the side of the building having the street that you drive in on. We drove around, parked the car briefly and got a 100 Euro ticket.
